Chapter 744: 255. Shipyard and Military Factory_3

Donnie could recite from memory the classic models of guns from every era!

Robert suddenly realized and said with a smile, “Got it, I’ll have someone look into it right away!”

Standing beside them, Chris also laughed and said, “If we had our own arms factory, then we could equip our own transport team with the best weapons!”

Donnie stood up, smiled, and said, “Alright, let’s first resolve these issues, and while we’re at it or in the process, we might find solutions to other problems!”

Robert and Chris nodded, then went off to do as Donnie had instructed.

After they left, Winston Marl brought over some documents on the recent company affairs. Although Robert had already taken care of them, Donnie still wanted to review the specifics.

...

That review took a whole afternoon; after completing the day’s work, Donnie headed to a villa in the eastern part of Atlantic City.

Old Carl and Jennifer were in Atlantic City today, and nothing else but John’s wedding was the reason.

While it’s not a custom for Americans to meet the parents before marriage, sometimes even marrying without their families knowing, that only applies to ordinary families.

But after Donnie had brought the Block Family to its current height, John’s wedding naturally concerned both old Carl and Jennifer a lot!

John used to live in his own tavern, but now that he was going to marry Evelyn Melo, he brought her to the villa he had bought long ago.

When Donnie entered the living room, he saw old Carl and John chatting. Upon asking, he learned that Jennifer and Evelyn Melo were in the kitchen.

“We were just talking about you, and here you are—saves John the trouble of passing messages!”

Old Carl looked at Donnie, who had just sat down, and blurted out nonchalantly.

Donnie said indifferently, “It’s John getting married, not me. Why should I care if you don’t pass on your wisdom properly?”

Old Carl waved his hand nonchalantly, “What’s there to pass on about these things? If she doesn’t listen, just give her a good punch!”

Donnie chuckled and said, “Want me to pass along what you’ve just said to Mom?”

Old Carl’s face changed color, but he stubbornly said, “Even if you do, so what? Am I afraid of her?”

“Mom!” Donnie immediately shouted loudly.

“Hey, hey, hey, why are you calling her for?” Old Carl hurriedly got up, flustered.

At this moment, Jennifer also came out with a kitchen knife, looking puzzled at the three, “What’s going on?”

“Nothing, nothing, just go ahead with the cooking!” Old Carl hastily pushed Jennifer back into the kitchen with a flattering smile, leaving her utterly confused.

Hehe! Donnie laughed mercilessly at old Carl. Donnie knew Carl had clearly forgotten how Jennifer once chased him all around with two handguns!

“John, see? Don’t learn from him. Aside from being bullheaded, he’s got no other skills!”

John looked doubtfully at old Carl, “Dad, I’m seriously doubting that all those things you told me were just your own imagination!”

Old Carl’s face turned bright red, “Your mother wasn’t like this before. Now, I respect her, it’s not that I’m afraid of her!”

Donnie and John exchanged glances, then chuckled ‘hehe’ in unison.

Old Carl huffily sat back down and abruptly changed the subject, “John’s getting married now, have you thought about your own matters?”

Donnie knew old Carl wanted to talk to him about this and helplessly replied, “You don’t have to worry about me, I can solve my own problems!”

Old Carl wasn’t trying to rush Donnie into marriage, but he believed that with Donnie’s business growing bigger, there ought to be a successor. It didn’t matter whom Donnie married—just having an heir was enough.

“Surely you don’t want your vast empire to be left without an heir if you suddenly kicked the bucket?”

Donnie rolled his eyes at old Carl, “Am I really your son? You’re actually hoping I kick the bucket suddenly?”

Old Carl snorted coldly, “I was very sure before, but now that I see all that you’re doing to me, I’m not so sure anymore.”

“Mom!” Donnie shouted again.

“Stop, stop, stop!” Like a spring was attached to his bottom, old Carl leapt up, covering Donnie’s mouth, “If you want me dead, just say it directly!”

Donnie snorted coldly, pried Carl’s hand away, and said, “You don’t need to worry about my affairs, which will happen when it’s time!”

Having been threatened by Donnie twice, old Carl dared not bring up the subject again.

Right on cue, Jennifer called everyone to dinner.

Despite being a Broadway actress and not having much in common with old Carl and Jennifer, Evelyn Melo managed to make them laugh heartily at the dinner table. Donnie realized that John was in danger for life.

This woman could easily wrap John around her finger.

But it was none of Donnie’s concern, and he didn’t bother to say more.

After dinner, the housemaids naturally took care of the clean-up, and Jennifer started talking to Donnie about Cameron’s future, given that he was going to Yale University for further studies next year.

Donnie indicated that Cameron was going down a path entirely different from his or John’s; he was going to be a high-ranking government official in the future. Jennifer might not understand much about life planning, but the thought of Cameron becoming a high official made her very happy!

Donnie talked with them until after nine in the evening and then rode back to the seaside manor. Then he found Helen standing there, radiantly smiling, while Alice was sitting on the sofa huffing with a pillow in her arms!

“What happened?”

Donnie curiously asked as he took off his coat.

Helen smiled and said, “I’m pregnant!”
