Chapter 820: 281. The relationship with the Rockefeller Family began to become subtle

Purchasing shares in the New York Central Railroad Company from the Vanderbilt Family wasn’t too difficult; the real challenge was ensuring no information leaked during the process!

So when Jack Morgan heard about Donnie’s actions, he immediately began to worry!

“What if Reggie Vanderbilt wants to pass this message on to the Rockefeller Family, what then?”

Sitting on the sofa with a relaxed smile, Donnie replied: “Jack, have you forgotten where we are?”

With just a brief moment of thought, Jack Morgan understood what Donnie meant, “This is Atlantic City!”

Donnie nodded with ease and chuckled: “Correct, this is Atlantic City. Without my permission, Reggie Vanderbilt’s calls won’t reach Rockefellers!”

In this era, communication technology wasn’t as convenient as in later times, where you could make satellite calls from mobile phones!

With the current communications technology, if Donnie wished, even if Reggie Vanderbilt made a call, Rockefellers wouldn’t be on the other end.

Right on cue, Steve Cotting walked in with a smile: “Boss, just as you thought, Reggie Vanderbilt called the Rockefellers, and I have declined Reggie Vanderbilt’s proposal to collaborate with the Rockefellers as per your instructions!”

Donnie nodded: “Before Reggie Vanderbilt signs a contract with us, keep a close watch on his actions. We must know everything, even how many times he goes to the bathroom at night!”

Steve Cotting agreed: “No problem, those two girls around him have been instructed, and they will closely monitor Reggie Vanderbilt’s actions.”

Donnie waved his hand and sent Steve Cotting out, then turned to Jack Morgan with a smile: “Jack, what you Morgans need to do now is prepare the cash and be ready to acquire New York Central Railroad Company at any time.”

Jack Morgan was in awe of Donnie’s actions; it was only now that he realized the extent of Donnie’s control over Atlantic City!

“What if Reggie Vanderbilt wants to go directly to New York to find the Rockefellers?”

Jack Morgan still asked with some concerns.

Acquiring New York Central Railroad Company was too important for Morgan; it was directly related to whether Morgan could compete with the Rockefellers in the railroad sector.

Donnie reassured with a smile: “Jack, rest assured, do you still not understand what kind of person Reggie Vanderbilt is? If he had such scheming, he wouldn’t be here now.”

After thinking it over, Jack Morgan agreed with Donnie’s point and laughed: “Indeed, nothing appeals to Reggie Vanderbilt more than playing a couple of games after downing a glass of whiskey!”

Donnie: “As for the other members of the Vanderbilt Family, I’ve already sent people to contact them. I believe they’ll be willing to sell their shares in New York Central Railroad Company at a reasonable price.”

Jack Morgan sighed: “Hearing you talk about it so easily, I’m starting to doubt if there was any value in what we Morgans did before!”

Donnie smirked: “Of course, it had value. If Morgan and Rockefeller hadn’t already infiltrated the management of New York Central Railroad Company, causing the Vanderbilt Family to lose most of their control over the company, they wouldn’t be giving up the company so readily!”

The most important thing for Donnie right now was secrecy and speed.

Morgan and Rockefeller had already done the preliminary work, and the reason they hadn’t further expanded their shareholding in New York Central Railroad Company was exactly because they were worried their actions would alert the other party.

Now that Morgan wasn’t making a move, and Donnie was the first to act, coupled with his current status in the United States, this made the Vanderbilt Family even more willing to accept such an acquisition!

After discussing the acquisition of New York Central Railroad Company for a while longer, Jack Morgan brought up another matter to Donnie.

“I’ve already negotiated on your behalf with the UK side; once you secure the extraction rights for the Baku Oil Field, they will open up the European oil transportation pipeline for you!”

Donnie was very pleased to hear this news.

Now that Sinclair Oil Company’s affair was publicly exposed by British Military Intelligence Six, it was now an open secret and, given the character of the Soviet Union, they would definitely not collaborate with Shell anymore.

That left only Donnie’s Pandora Oil Company as their option!

Of course, some oil companies, after seeing Sinclair Oil Corporation’s situation, also wanted to vie for the Baku Oil Fields, but they lacked Donnie’s long-term operations in the Soviet Union, and at this time, they hadn’t even found a way to contact the Soviet side.

So there was no chance for any surprises with this deal!

The UK side saw this outcome and naturally, they were dissatisfied, but at this point, they had no alternatives. However, as long as Sinclair Oil Corporation did not succeed, they were already satisfied!

With Pandora Oil Company having a high probability of securing the Baku Oil Field, the only option for the opposition was to accept this fact. They could still earn some profits by opening the European oil transportation pipeline to Donnie’s Pandora Oil Company — if not, they would have no profits at all!
