America Tycoon: The Wolf of Showbiz

Chapter 939 - 872: Acting God of Pretended Accidents_2

Leonardo couldn't help but laugh, "Jack truly deserves his two Oscar Best Actor awards. His performance was too convincing."

Alexandra was stunned, "You mean Jack was acting? He's alright?"

Martin shrugged, "The guy might just be too bored."

"That's right." Leonardo, who knew more, continued, "Originally, Jack wanted to prank Martin, but pranking your own is never as fun as pranking strangers."

Alexandra, unfamiliar with the Trio of Scoundrels' way of interacting, found it very strange.

After consulting Alexandra's opinion, Martin told Bruce, who was driving, "Call your sweetheart when we get to the hospital."

Bruce knew that Lorraine had taken the video and replied, "Okay."

Leonardo laughed again, "That scoundrel Jack has used every trick in the book."

Including Martin, no one in the car had expected Nicholson to resort to a scammers tactic like staging an accident.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the paramedics immediately took Nicholson to the emergency center.

Soon, a doctor came out to inform them, "Mr. Nicholson has awakened, but he keeps complaining of dizziness. We recommend hospital observation."

Martin had anticipated this as the human brain is extremely complex, and often symptoms like headaches and dizziness can't be diagnosed.

Leonardo and Lorraine went to handle the hospital admission, and the group then transferred Nicholson to a luxury ward.

While handling the paperwork, Lorraine took the chance to meet with Jody who had rushed over.

He paid a sum of money and got a copy of the bar's video.

Back in the ward, after sending the doctors and nurses away, Bruce also turned off the monitoring system.

Nicholson slowly sat up, rubbed his lower back, and ranted at Martin, "You really are a scoundrel, leaving me on the floor. It's cold and hard, almost triggered my back pain!"

"I was cooperating with you, okay?" Martin retorted habitually, "With your great acting skills, I had to provide you with the space to fully perform."

He asserted confidently, "Even lying on the cold, hard floor, you still successfully portrayed an unconscious old man! You should thank me because I've allowed you to prove to everyone that Jack Nicholson is still Hollywood's number one in acting!"

Leonardo chimed in, "Martin did what was normal, I fully support him."

Alexandra, hearing the Trio of Scoundrels' absurd rants for the first time, glanced back and forth among them, thinking to herself these were three buffoons from who knows where.

Nicholson, pressing his lower back, stood up, "Since you gave me a chance to perform, should I thank you properly?"

Martin waved it off, "You're my boss, no need to be so formal."

The door was knocked from outside, Bruce went to check and seeing that it was Lorraine, opened the door to let her in.

Martin asked, "How much 'pocket money' did we make this time?"

Lorraine, smiling coyly, replied, "Not much, not much." She located Alexandra, "I'll give you half."

Alexandra didn't need the money and shook her head with a laugh, "No, thanks."

Leo then spoke up, "What's the next step?"

"The video will be posted on TMZ, and the angle of the news will be sexual harassment," Martin had discussed this with Alexandra in the car earlier and asked her, "You might need to post a few things on social media."

As the direct victim and having a very poor impression of Dwayne, backed by Martin, Alexandra answered, "I will accuse him on social media."

Nicholson suddenly coughed a few times, reminding everyone that there was still a severely injured good guy here.

Martin looked at the acting legend, "Jack, what do you think?"

Nicholson lay back down on the bed, holding his forehead and said, "No, I'm really dizzy... ah, my head is starting to hurt again, staying in the hospital will cost so much money, and with this mood, I definitely can't recover."

Leonardo said, "There are no doctors here, no rush to act."

Nicholson dropped his hand, "I'm just making you realize how serious my injuries are, so I can ask for some compensation."

Martin suggested, "In that case, let your lawyer know, he's more professional in such matters than we are."

Nicholson nodded.

Lorraine called the lawyer.

Nicholson started complaining about his headache and dizziness again.

Everyone has their own issues, so who's to say.

...

In front of WMA headquarters, Johnson paced back and forth anxiously. After the hustle and bustle, he had sweated out much of the alcohol and sobered up.

He had already used his connections to inquire about Jack Nicholson's condition at the hospital. The feedback wasn't good; Jack Nicholson kept feeling dizzy and had headaches.

This matter, minor as it might seem, could also become very troublesome.

Agent Raymond rushed over and found Johnson, asking, "What happened? Why did you have an altercation with Martin?"

"I didn't have an altercation with Martin. This..." Johnson quickly recounted what had happened, sticking to his previous statement, "I just wanted to invite Alexandra Daddario to play a role."

Raymond had been an agent in Hollywood for more than a year; he understood what had happened by combining the afternoon's events and Johnson's personality after a little thought.

He said, quite helplessly, "Why did you provoke Alexandra? Aren't there enough rumors about her and Martin on the internet and in gossip media? And the Trio of Scoundrels always stick together; you've messed with Nicholson, Leonardo and Martin won't just sit by."

Johnson rubbed his bald head, "What's done is done."

Raymond thought for a moment, "Have your manager and lawyers come over right away, let's quickly discuss a countermeasure. The longer we drag this on, the worse it will be for you. Remember one thing, any problem that money can solve is not a problem."

He took out his phone, "I'll give Ari a call, see if he can help mediate."

Johnson crossed his arms and let out a sigh of frustration.

As soon as Raymond hung up the call, an assistant came in, reminding, "TMZ just released a video. Dwayne Johnson harassed Alexandra Daddario at Avalon Bar and assaulted Jack Nicholson."

"I know," Raymond gestured Johnson to his office.

The two sat in front of the computer, opened the TMZ website, and at a prominent spot on the homepage, there was a video report.

"Dwayne Johnson harasses Alexandra Daddario, Nicholson intervenes and suffers an attack from Johnson"

Clicking on the video, it played the entire sequence of Nicholson rushing to stop Johnson, all the way to Johnson pushing down Nicholson.

Johnson frowned as he watched because the video made Nicholson appear righteous, while he was obviously too drunk.

Below the news were a slew of biased comments.

"I never thought Dwayne Johnson was this kind of person."

"Attacking an elderly person in their seventies, this guy is too bad."

"Just got news, apparently Nicholson has been hospitalized. Someone took photos of Martin and Leonardo in the hospital corridor; both are worried, suggesting the injuries are serious."

"After all, how can a person in their seventies withstand an attack from Johnson."

"Aren't you all overlooking the most important point? The whole incident started with Johnson harassing a woman!"

The tone below was completely changed, becoming a stage for feminists to perform.

Johnson's face became very ugly, "Can it be taken down?"

Raymond shook his head, "Once a TMZ headline is out, it's never been retracted." He suggested, "Start crisis PR right away, let's try to talk to Nicholson's side as soon as possible."

Johnson nodded.

Later, his lawyer and manager both rushed over, but the PR did not go smoothly.

TMZ, of course, rejected Johnson's request. Lorraine used the excuse of Nicholson's poor condition to turn down an immediate meeting, Alexandra wouldn't even take Johnson's calls, and she went on social media to describe accurately what happened before the video.

Ari Emanuel did indeed call Martin.

Martin directly said, "Jack is my friend, my best teacher in performing, and he's lying on a hospital bed, his head hurting so badly he can't recognize me and Leo."

This year was Martin's contract year, and Martin was still WMA's top client. Without having to think, Ari Emanuel already knew whom to choose.

WMA's crisis PR department was slow to respond.

It was normal to be this way during off-work hours.

By the next morning, Johnson was pushed into the eye of the storm, attacked not only because of causing Nicholson's injuries but also nearly savaged by feminist fighters.

His only choice was to follow his agent's advice and settle things as quickly as possible.
