Chapter 621: 313: Are You Scared Now?

Chapter 621: Chapter 313: Are You Scared Now?

In the midst of discussions from all sides, two days quickly passed.

At the Bellagio Hotel, Lakruwa and his associates gathered early in the morning, but at this moment, each of their faces bore a deeply furrowed brow.

“There are only four hours left before the court session, how can that damn David remain so calm!”

“Over the past two days, there hasn’t been the slightest hint from the Los Angeles IRS that they intend to call off the hearing. Could they really have something on us?”

“We’re close to the court session, and he’s still acting so confidently, it’s a bit concerning…”

Guessing that David might be tricking them into initiating a settlement agreement, the Amazon Legal Department patiently waited.

But two days had passed, and with only a few hours left until the court session, the Los Angeles IRS hadn’t shown any indication or hinted at wanting to discuss things.

Naturally, this caused them to become a bit restless.

If the Los Angeles IRS really had something on them and it went to court, they would reach a point of no return!

Just thinking about this, whether it was Lakruwa or other members of the legal team, all felt a chill down their spines.

Just as the atmosphere grew tense, Lakruwa’s phone rang. He checked the caller ID, and his face immediately showed a trace of fear.

Because the person calling him wasn’t just anyone, it was Jeff Bezos, the Chairman of the Board of Amazon.

Now, with only four hours left before the session, his boss calling him at this time clearly indicated urgency. Fearing the possibility of being berated, his hair stood on end.

But he couldn’t ignore his boss’s call. In the end, Lakruwa shakily pressed the answer button and weakly said, “Mr. Jeff…”

“What’s going on, Lakruwa? There are only four hours left before the court session. What’s the situation with the Los Angeles IRS? Have they shown any ‘mistake’?”

Jeff’s mention of a mistake was, of course, referencing any sign from the Los Angeles IRS of wanting them to initiate negotiations.

“It doesn’t seem like it… they even seem very confident!”

“Dammit, do they really have something on our Group?”

Jeff’s tone became frantic and exasperated.

“This…”

By now, Lakruwa didn’t dare to be so absolute.@@novelbin@@

“Never mind, go to the Los Angeles IRS right now and get a sense of their position. If necessary… just put out there that we’re willing to come to an agreement and see how they respond!”

Taking this action would put Amazon Group at a disadvantage, but Jeff couldn’t gamble, for he feared David might actually have something on them, and once it went to court, there wouldn’t be any room for remedy.

“Please think again, Mr. Jeff. We’ve also discussed the possibility that David is bluffing us. If we approach them now, we might fall right into his trap!”

“Dammit, do you even have brains? Look at how little time there is left before the court session. Even if it’s a trap, we can’t afford not to go!”

Lakruwa was speechless at this, but after thinking for a while, he spoke, “How about this, Mr. Jeff. We’ve still got four hours to the session. If it really comes down to it, we could wait and make our move when there’s only one hour left. There might still be a chance.”

After pondering Lakruwa’s suggestion, Jeff considered that there was indeed a bit of time to take a chance, and then he grudgingly agreed, “Alright, Lakruwa, but damn it, remember, don’t screw this up.”

“Got it…”

After ending the call, the members of the Amazon Legal Department patiently waited.

Soon, three hours had passed.

They still hadn’t heard anything from the Los Angeles IRS, and many were getting restless, standing up and pacing back and forth in the room.

Welber was also getting restless. He picked up his phone and made several calls but, not getting any useful information, he went over to Lakruwa and said, “Lakruwa, things are looking grim. I think we should do as Mr. Jeff suggested and head over to the Los Angeles IRS.”

Frustration and reluctance flashed across Lakruwa’s face, but in the end, he gritted his teeth, stood up, and uttered, “Let’s go.”

As the time approached for Amazon Group to be sued, discussions about it on various social media were escalating.

At the Los Angeles IRS, many journalists were still stationed outside, hoping to receive any fresh news at any moment.

“Is that… the vehicle of Amazon Group’s Legal Department!”

As the media discussed what would happen next, someone suddenly shouted this, causing everyone to look up quickly.

Sure enough, two sedans had pulled up at the entrance of the Los Angeles IRS.

And as the car doors opened, out stepped members of the Amazon Group Legal Department, led by Lakruwa.

“Ladies and gentlemen, there’s only about an hour left until the court session, and as we can see, the team from Amazon Group’s Legal Department has arrived at the Los Angeles IRS. Whether they are here to negotiate or to plead, we currently do not know. Stay tuned to our channel for continuing coverage…”

“Oh my god, the legal team from Amazon has arrived again. Could it be as the TV reporters are saying, that they’ve come to plead?”
