Chapter 707: Chapter 354: Implementing the Bill_2

So when they saw that he had finally returned, the department was instantly stirred, with everyone crowding around to offer their greetings.

“Sorry to have worried you all.”

David also expressed his apologies to the department.

“It’s okay, as long as you are fine.”

The Tax Inspection Department had not easily welcomed David’s leadership, and naturally, everyone had wanted to make a big splash. But upon hearing about the assassination attempt, the entire department truly felt as if the sky had fallen.

But fortunately, now that David had returned safely, this was the greatest fortune for them.

...

“Alright, everyone go back to work. Nisen Bakesimmons, come to my office.”

Previously, these three had been sent by David to inspect their respective regions, but since receiving the news of David’s assassination attempt, the three had rushed back in grief to anchor the department.

“BOSS, you really scared us this time; don’t do this again. At the very least, give us a heads-up so we can be prepared.”

“Simmons is right, these past few days I’ve had sleepless nights because of this.”

“It’s indeed worrisome.”

When they entered the office, Simmons was the first to complain, and Nisen Bucky followed suit.

It must be understood that unlike the other people in the Internal Revenue Service, they had been personally groomed by David. If David had truly fallen victim to the assassination, not only would their ascension have been halted, but they might not even be able to secure their current regional director positions.

“An emperor for all seasons,” a term that applies to any era, any department.

“I did this to avoid information leaks.”

“Enough, we don’t want to dwell on this anymore. Those bastards from Freemasonry actually dared to use such despicable methods, we can’t let this go!”

“Yes, we must make them pay the price they deserve!”

“Exactly!”

The three said indignantly.

“Rest assured, I have a plan already!”

“What plan?”

“I’m planning to…”

David shared his thoughts on pushing legislative plans, and upon hearing his ideas, the three fell silent.

After a while, Nisen finally spoke, “Pushing such a bill will indeed be challenging, but if it succeeds, those three major powers are likely going to bleed.”

“Nisen is right; the difficulty of this bill is indeed great, but if it succeeds, most of the enterprises controlled by the Illuminati, Freemasonry, and the Ansa Group will no longer be able to avoid taxes through tax policies in other locations, and that probably hurts more than killing them.”

“Not only can this act as revenge, but it also gives our Tax Bureau a big payout. It’s worth a shot!”

The three all considered the plan difficult, but they unanimously agreed that if the plan were to be completed, it would indeed be enough to make those three major powers bleed and jump.

“This plan is indeed challenging, next I’ll need your help to…”

David spent the remaining time delegating work to the three.

It wasn’t until half an hour later that the sound of the office door interrupted their conversation.

“Come in.”

Kepel pushed the door open and said, “Chief Inspector, Mister Ted, John, and Miss Sally from the media have arrived. They want to see you.”

“Let them come in!”

David turned to look at the Nisen trio and said, “Off you go.”

The three did not linger any longer and left the office.

A few minutes later, Ted, John, and Sally walked in, but their faces were tinged with unease, their heads hung low in a manner that clearly suggested guilt.

“I can understand your decisions; you don’t need to explain any further to me. Continue doing what I had instructed you to do before!”

Despite their immediate shift to Freemasonry’s feet after his ‘death,’ as David said, he could understand their decisions.

“`

Furthermore, in his eyes, these three were just insignificant bit players; as long as he lived, they posed no threat to him at all.

There was another reason, which was that if these three were removed, David would have a hard time immediately finding suitable people to take control of the news corporation and help with his personal image propaganda.

Thus, considering all the above, there was no need for him to trouble these three over such a trifling matter.

The trio was stunned; they had thought that coming here today, they would surely face David’s thunderous fury, they had even prepared pleas for mercy.

But unexpectedly, not only did David not show any intention of making things difficult for them, he actually seemed to trust them and let them continue their work?

“Inspector David, this… I…”

It took a while for John to recover, but he stumbled over his words for a long time, not quite knowing what to say.

“No need to say more, go back to your work. However, I must remind you, if you work for me, you need to do it well. Don’t get any other ideas, or else, you know what the consequences will be!”

“We understand…”

The three of them knew that David was warning them, and they hurriedly agreed in unison.

Once they stepped out of the office, all three of them let out a long sigh of relief, feeling as though they had just survived a disaster.

David had shown surprising leniency this time, but it wouldn’t necessarily be the case next time.

It seemed they couldn’t make such wishy-washy decisions so easily anymore!

It was two o’clock in the afternoon.

David was looking through a set of personnel files that Elvis had brought to his office when there was another knock on the door.

Kepel entered and said, “Inspector David, Mr. Sean would like to see you.”

“Let him come in.”

A few minutes later, Sean entered, beginning with, “Chief Inspector David, your recent ‘faked death’ really took us by surprise.”

“Sorry, Mr. Sean, the reason I did that was to see who among the three major powers would jump out after my death.”

David still expressed apologies, just as he did with others.

“Now you have gotten your wish.”

“Yes, but on another note, Mr. Sean, your Kennedy Family must have had a tough time these past few days, haven’t they?”

Freemasonry and the Kennedy Family had a deep-rooted enmity.

During this time, the Kennedy Family had been acting as his ally, striking against those people, and now that he had been suddenly stabbed and ‘died’, it would have been strange indeed if Freemasonry hadn’t tried to take a harsh stance against the Kennedy Family, given their vindictive nature.

Sean let out a wry smile and replied, “Don’t laugh at us, but just last night, we decided to move our entire family. Fortunately, we received news that you were still alive at the last minute during the banquet in New York, and that’s what stopped us in our tracks.”

“Sorry for that…”

“There’s no need for such formalities between us. Besides, I bear some responsibility for this matter too. I had no idea that the Three Major Families, behind my back, were actually conspiring with Freemasonry. If you hadn’t received advance notice, the situation would have been irreversible.”

The Kennedy Family was ostensibly part of the Ansa Group, yet the Three Major Families had secretly colluded with Freemasonry and planned such an assassination. Strictly speaking, he bore some responsibility.

“This matter is not your fault.”

“Let’s get to the point then. I suppose you won’t let this matter rest, will you?”

“Of course not.”

“So, what are you planning to do?”

David pondered for a moment before speaking, “There is something I want to confirm with you first.”

“What’s that?”

“How much control does your family still have over the congressmembers?”

Sean’s brow furrowed slightly as he answered, “To be frank, during the days you weren’t seen, many congressmembers who represented our family’s interests started wavering, and some even made contact with Freemasonry, Illuminati, and Ansa Group. So, if you’re asking about the extent of our family’s control over congressmembers, we truly cannot give you a definite answer at the moment.”
