Chapter 68
October 26, 2020
"I'm sorry. I'm late."
Cabelenus strode forward, cutting down skeletons in his path, and stood in front of Alicia. While she wasn't gravely injured, the small cuts on her body and her torn dress were enough to be jarring. Cabelenus bared his teeth with a loud grind, his gaze locking onto Veloa. Alicia, seeing this, held Mikael tightly in her arms.
"What have you done?"
"Nothing."
"Lie."
Alicia fought back tears as she clenched her arms. With Cabelenus’s back to her, she couldn't check for injuries, but the wounds she had glimpsed earlier refused to leave her mind.
"...Did you do this to yourself?"
"......"
"Why? Why would you do this?"
"......I did it so I wouldn't miss you when I fell asleep."
"You can't justify doing something like that!"
Alicia's voice grew sharp. To hurt yourself in order to stay awake was madness. The thought process was so far removed from what she expected that it left her stunned.
"You said you wanted to see me."
"......"
Alicia’s pupils shook.@@novelbin@@
"You said that, so how could I give up?"
Cabelenus tightened his grip on the sword in his hand. The lost time, wasted over the past eight years, was enough. He no longer blamed himself for not protecting her, nor did he feel the anger toward Jerpeneus, the one who ruined her. He was done denying the passage of time, and now, all that mattered was her.
What do you think?
