Chapter 74 The Legend of the Old Fang Family
"By the way, Uncle Wang, if you don't mind me asking, do you know my father?" Fang Jueyu recalled that conversation with Wang Cong, where a private plane modified from an armed helicopter was up for auction, and Wang Lin was present. He also seemed to recognize his father.
"In the business world, who doesn't know your father?" Wang Lin laughed, "But your father never shows up in public, probably because he doesn't like to be disturbed. Except for those around him, no one has ever seen his face, and there's not been a single photo of him taken!"
"So mysterious?" Fang Jueyu hadn't realized his father liked to play at being mysterious.
"Not just your father, even your ancestors have never appeared in public," Wang Lin reminded him, "Although you're quite famous online now, it's best not to easily expose your connection with your family."
"Why? Do we have enemies?"
"In business, the battlefield is the marketplace. How could anyone in business not have enemies?" It's quite common in business—some people may appear warm on the surface but might secretly wish ill upon your family.
"It's not just that. Business is business, and while things can't get too extreme, your family is not just simple business." Wang Lin's tone turned serious.
"Before Wang Cong knew you, even I didn't know your family name. Of course, not many people know about your family's existence either. We usually refer to the current heir as 'The One,'" Wang Lin said, "You probably know there was an auction your father and I attended."
"Yes, I know. Wang Cong mentioned it to me."
"At that auction, almost everyone on the Forbes list was there, including the Morgan family and the Chaiert family, because they got word your father would attend that auction! Do you know what happened afterward?"
"Someone tried to take down my dad?" Fang Jueyu naturally thought of this possibility.
"Exactly!"

"Such a thing really happened?" Fang Jueyu was greatly shocked. He thought he was just here to chat with Wang Lin and ended up receiving such astonishing news.
"And guess what happened in the end?" Wang Lin asked with a mysterious look.
"I'm guessing those people were wiped out!" Although Fang Jueyu didn't know how powerful his father had become after his potential was unlocked as Xiao Yi described, the fact that he was still alive said it all.
"How did you know? Did your father tell you?" Although it might be that Fang Jueyu's father had a very strong team of bodyguards, escaping unscathed under such a siege would have been very difficult.
"I was just guessing!"
"You guessed right. All those mercenaries, assassins, and mystery figures disappeared," Wang Lin narrated in a story-like tone. "When we sent people out to investigate, they reported back that half of a nearby island was shattered, with bits of blood scattered on the rocks belonging to different people!"
"Ha, a bunch of fools, trying to assassinate Fang Huai, isn't this just asking for death?" Xiao Yi's disdainful voice sounded in Fang Jueyu's ear.
"Xiao Yi, do you know what happened then?" Fang Jueyu asked.
"Want to see? Call me Daddy!"
"Screw you! Don't get carried away. Say it again and I'll end my life, leaving you without a host!"
That line usually worked to threaten Xiao Yi, and instantly, the events from years ago played out in Fang Jueyu's mind.
The auction was held on a large private island, and at that time, Fang Huai was on a private plane leaving when a shoulder-launched surface-to-air rocket directly hit the rotor of his helicopter.
However, the helicopter didn't crash immediately and instead slowly descended to the ground, enveloped in a golden light. Seeing this, Fang Jueyu seemed to hear the sound of Newton turning in his grave.
Wearing a tank top, beach shorts, and slippers, Fang Huai emerged with disheveled hair from the helicopter, and the pilot seemed to have passed out. As soon as he stepped onto the island's beach, hundreds of people surrounded him.
"Dog, block the entire island for me!" Fang Huai spoke in a slick tone.
"Dog? Who's Dog?"
"That's me!" Xiao Yi reluctantly replied. At that time, Fang Huai's potential development had reached a ridiculously high level. At least Xiao Yi's abilities couldn't counter him, and there was nothing it could do about the nickname.
In almost an instant, a metal frenzy, accompanied by some whistling bullets, enveloped Fang Huai's body. This scene probably could only be recreated by a Hollywood special effects team.
However, a more astonishing scene occurred—the bullets all stopped a few meters away from Fang Huai, then followed their original trajectory and shot into the mercenaries and assassins themselves.
"Holy crap! Awesome!" Fang Jueyu couldn't help but shout out loud. Luckily, it was just in his thought process with Xiao Yi, or else he might have scared Wang Lin half to death!
"Poof!" A cloud of mist exploded above Fang Huai's head, and a middle-aged man dressed like a Ninja, wielding a samurai sword, stabbed down towards his head.
Afterward, all sorts of others appeared—some spitting fire, some spraying acid, some with immense strength, some turning invisible—just like the Calabash Brothers.
"What the heck? Are these people even human?"
"Of course, they are. They've activated a part of their potential through drugs or external stimulation. In your terms, they'd be called superpower users!"
"My God! Such people really exist?"
"Yes, and there are many!"
But how could those mixed methods stand against someone like Fang Huai who had fully unlocked his potential? It seemed like he was just toying with them until Cao Lan called him on the phone.
"Host, the mistress is calling you. Do you want to answer?"@@novelbin@@
"Answer, answer, I wouldn't dare not to!" Fang Huai leisurely answered Cao Lan's call thanks to Xiao Yi.
"Darling! Where have you run off to? Don't you know there's a parent-teacher meeting for your son tonight?" Cao Lan's roar blasted from the phone.
Fang Huai stood trembling with his phone in hand while those assassins and Superpower Users looked as if they were facing a feared enemy and didn't dare to advance.
"Sorry, honey, I'll be back right away!" Fang Huai hung up the phone with a helpless smile. "It must be that rascal who flunked his exams again, otherwise they wouldn't call me for the parent-teacher meeting!"
An intense energy burst forth from Fang Huai, centered on him. Half of the island seemed to evaporate instantly, leaving only Fang Huai and the unconscious pilot in the helicopter intact.
Fang Huai lifted the helicopter with one hand and then flew into the sky like an immortal.
"This... am I watching a fantasy movie?" Fang Jueyu's expression became dazed.
"Xiao Fang, what's wrong?" At this point, Fang Jueyu's awareness had returned to reality, and his unusual expression caught Wang Lin's attention.
"Oh, nothing, just really surprised by what you just said."
Now Fang Jueyu finally understood why, on that day during the parent-teacher meeting, all the other parents were in suits and ties, while Fang Huai was in shorts and slippers. For that, he got scolded by the teacher. Turns out such a thing had happened!
"After that, no one dared to probe into your family's affairs. It's become a silent taboo that everyone knows," remembering the shocked expressions of those who brought back the news, Wang Lin said with clarity.
"It turns out the world still speaks of the legend of our old Fang family!" A sense of pride rose in Fang Jueyu's heart.
What do you think?
