Chapter 91 - 91 8 The Mysterious Bronze
Chapter 91: Chapter 8: The Mysterious Bronze Chapter 91: Chapter 8: The Mysterious Bronze The commercial center, overseen by the Four Great Families within Azure Cloud City, is also the busiest place in the city.
Here, people come and go, with shops arrayed in close succession.
Many mercenaries, after hunting down fierce beasts or acquiring other good things in the Wilderness Jungle, would come to the commercial center to sell their spoils.
Lin Feng came to the commercial center to collect the items needed by the Fire Kirin.
Deep within the Wilderness Jungle lived a Great Demon Jiaolong, commanding awe throughout the region, the king among beasts.
This was something Lin Feng had heard of.
But to obtain the Jiaolong Blood was not an easy task.
Fortunately, the Fire Kirin said there was hope.
The items the Fire Kirin needed were dozens of Spiritual Medicines.
Now bereft of Divine Power, the Fire Kirin’s strength was limited, but aside from its dropped strength, it still retained all its previous abilities.
The Fire Kirin intended to use these Spiritual Medicines to concoct an elixir which, once consumed, could temporarily restore the “aura” of its peak period.
It would restore only the “aura” of its peak period, not the “strength.”
When sensing its aura, the Fire Kirin appeared still to be an exceedingly powerful, supreme Divine Beast.
In reality, the Fire Kirin’s strength had not changed at all.
Plainly speaking, the Fire Kirin wanted to “bluff” the Jiaolong.
Whether this plan could succeed, Lin Feng did not know, but he had to try, as his time was running out.
Whatever method that could yield the Jiaolong Blood, Lin Feng was willing to attempt it.
“It’s Young Master Feng…”
Within the commercial center, patrolling guards from the Lin Family, upon seeing Lin Feng, all came forward to greet him.
Lin Feng’s return to the family had naturally already spread throughout the Lin Family.
“Feng’er, have you come to the commercial center to buy something?” asked Lin Feng’s Third Uncle, Lin Xiong, with a smile.
“Indeed, there are some items I need to purchase,” Lin Feng said.
“Write down the items and let the people below collect them for you,” Lin Xiong said.
Lin Feng nodded, wrote down the required Spiritual Medicines, and handed the list to a guard.
“Come on, follow Third Uncle and have a look around,” Lin Xiong said with a smile.
“Please lead the way, Third Uncle,” Lin Feng said with a smile.
The commercial center is a Guardian Land protected by the Four Great Families of Azure Cloud City.
Doing business within the commercial center, one would receive the patronage of the Four Great Families; of course, each month, these shops must pay a certain amount of taxes.
For a smaller family like the Lin Family, the main income is the taxes collected from the commercial center and some business within the family.
The annual income could be about five or six hundred thousand taels of silver.
But the Lin Family, including both the main and branch lines, servants, and guards, has over a thousand people, incurring colossal expenses.
And Lin Feng’s Cultivation at Jialan Academy costs a regular expense of one hundred and fifty thousand taels of silver a year, which is why a minor family like the Lin Family can only afford to send one or two individuals to study at Jialan Academy.
Besides providing for basic Cultivation, some precious Cultivation Resources are beyond the means of smaller families like the Lin Family to afford.
Fortunately, Lin Feng has always been diligent, and having encountered fortuitous adventures, his Cultivation improved rapidly, not disappointing the expectations of his family members.
Lin Feng patrolled the market with his Third Uncle, Lin Xiong, mainly to prevent disturbances, as many of the market’s visitors were mercenaries.
These individuals tended to be hot-tempered and were prone to disputes with shopkeepers over various issues.

Whenever such incidents arose, the Lin Family had to intervene to prevent the situation from escalating.
“Third Master, you’re here, please come in for a glass of water before you leave,” greeted the shopkeeper of an antique shop with a smile as Lin Xiong passed by.
“Ha ha, have you gotten your hands on some good tea again?” Lin Xiong asked, laughing.
“We’ve got some newly harvested tea that just arrived.
Third Master, please come in and have a taste.
If you find it to your liking, I’ll pack some for you to take back for the elders in the family to enjoy,” the shopkeeper offered with a smile.
“It’s one thing for me to enjoy your tea, but it’s quite another to take it home,” Lin Xiong shook his head.
“The Lin Family has provided protection these years, allowing me to conduct my business in peace.
Some tea leaves are the least I can offer,” the shopkeeper said, still smiling, as he invited Lin Xiong inside.
“Is this Young Master Lin Feng?” the shopkeeper respectfully inquired upon seeing Lin Feng.
“You know me?” Lin Feng asked, somewhat surprised.
“An old relative of mine is cultivating at Jialan Academy.
When I went to Jialan City to stock up on goods a while ago, I stayed at my relative’s place and heard my nephew speak of Young Master Lin Feng.
They said that at the Jialan Academy Inner Court competition, you were invincible and without equal.
To meet Young Master Lin Feng today is indeed a great honor,” the shopkeeper said somewhat obsequiously.
He was fully aware what it meant that Lin Feng, at the age of sixteen, was already a strong figure in the Martial Master Realm, and that little Azure Cloud City might not be able to accommodate the presence of such a significant figure from the Lin Family one day.
The shopkeeper’s eager demeanor was an attempt to forge a good relationship with the Lin Family.
“Ha ha, this nephew of mine is indeed the hope of our Lin Family,” Lin Xiong beamed with pride.
“Cough cough, it’s not as magical as the rumors outside make it seem.
Competitions between students, with victories and defeats, are quite commonplace,” Lin Feng said with a smile.
Suddenly, Lin Feng felt someone tugging at his pants.
He looked down to find it was the Fire Kirin doing the tugging.
“Third Master, Young Master Lin, please join us in the inner hall,” the shopkeeper invited them.
Lin Feng, feeling that the Fire Kirin must have something important to convey, said, “Rather than tasting tea, I’d prefer to look at the various antiques on display here.”
Lin Feng gestured towards the wide array of items inside the shop.
“Then, Young Master Lin, please take your time.
If there’s anything you fancy, just let me know,” the shopkeeper said.
Lin Feng nodded, and the shopkeeper went with Lin Xiong into the inner hall.
“What’s the matter?” Lin Feng asked.
“Buy the piece of bronze on the counter over there,” the Fire Kirin instructed.
Lin Feng walked over and saw that the counter was adorned with many small trinkets.
“Young Master Lin, all these items were excavated from an ancient tomb.
Have you taken a liking to anything?” inquired the shop assistant with a smile.
“Excavated from an ancient tomb?” Lin Feng was taken aback.
“A year ago, a cultivator discovered a tomb; many adventurers went treasure hunting inside, and it’s said that many people died.
These items are what were uncovered,” the shop assistant explained.
“Let me see that piece of bronze,” Lin Feng said, pointing to the piece mentioned by the Fire Kirin.
The shop assistant handed the bronze to Lin Feng.
This piece of bronze was clearly a fragment and quite damaged; vague imprints could be seen on its surface, and it seemed to be from a very distant past.
“I’ll take this,” Lin Feng said as he handed a silver note to the shop assistant and took the bronze.
“Young Master Lin, the shopkeeper told us not to take money for it,” the shop assistant said, trying to return the silver note to Lin Feng.
Lin Feng smiled and replied, “It’s fine, keep it.”
Lin Feng greeted Third Uncle Lin Xiong in the inner hall and had the bodyguard purchase the items he wanted and send them to his home.
Leaving the antique shop, Lin Feng walked in the direction of his family because he was eager to ask the Fire Kirin about the origins of the bronze piece and why it regarded it so highly.
What do you think?
