Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Even the Richest Man’s Son Has No Clue!
Zhang Qiqi spoke the words “killing with borrowed knife” in an indifferent tone.
Liu Dahong’s eyelids twitched after hearing her, but he didn’t make a sound immediately.
He glanced at the guard room window to ensure no one was outside before he looked at Zhang Qiqi with suspicion and asked,
“Killing with a borrowed knife? Whose knife? Kill whom?”
Zhang Qiming and the rest of the property management supervisors felt a chill down their spine and glanced at the two in surprise.
“Here. Borrow their knife, kill those unlucky folks,” Zhang Qiqi said nonchalantly, and pulled out her cellphone to open the residents’ group chat. She scrolled to the conversation between Jiang Yan and the property’s head caretaker, and handed the phone over to him.
Liu Dahong frowned, “I don’t quite understand, please elaborate, beauty.”
Having worked at Shallow Bay for many years, he could name almost every long-standing owner.
But the A-3201 in the group and the Zhang Qiqi in front of him, he found somewhat unfamiliar.
However, having seen her closely following Zhang Qiming earlier, he had assumed she was Zhang Qiming’s new romantic interest.
With relationships between men and women, unless stated, he felt it was not appropriate to inquire.
“I’ll take a look,” said Zhang Qiming, taking the cellphone from her hand.
Seeing it was a conversation between Jiang Yan and the property caretaker, he frowned, pulled Zhang Qiqi aside into a corner of the room, and said quietly,
“Qiqi, you can’t be thinking of dragging Miss Jiang into this? Didn’t you just tell me this afternoon that when you’re sleeping on the ground floor tonight, you wanted to get on good terms with her? What’s this? Changing faces faster than flipping a book!”
Also, Jiang Yan had not responded to his messages at any point.
He initially thought that she was either out of battery or had her phone turned off, and would certainly reply once her phone was back on.
Yet now, although she had been actively posting messages in the group, she completely ignored him.
And unexpectedly, she was planning to go to the official shelter.
Lucky for her, he had secured a good spot for her, even reallocating the three girls who were originally assigned to share with her.
Zhang Qiming suddenly felt that his genuine intentions had been harshly betrayed.
The weather was scorching hot, almost reaching sixty-five degrees.
His heart felt as if someone had poured ice water over it, chillingly cold.
“Miss Jiang? Brother Zhang, you sound quite fond there!” Zhang Qiqi, unaware of Zhang Qiming’s inner thoughts, pouted and remarked with a hint of jealousy.
She didn’t answer his question.
After all, Zhang Qiming was her chosen temporary support.
If he knew that she had once been the mistress to Jiang Yan’s stepfather, who knew what he would think.
Zhang Qiming, already feeling somewhat guilty, could only say, “She’s a woman worth over three billion, it might be best not to provoke her.”
“Heh, Brother Zhang, times change. You talk about her billions, but even if Young Master Wang, the richest heir, were here, it wouldn’t make a difference. I’d still dare to push him out! Haven’t you noticed the changes in the neighborhood today?
In the morning, someone throwing a dead body into the garden would get criticized and scolded.
In the afternoon?
Everyone has gotten used to it and even started copying them!
So, compared to those big numbers lying dormant in the bank accounts, controlling supplies and reducing competition is what’s most important right now!
This high temperature is relentless, none of us expected it, do you think that lovesick girl would think to withdraw billions and keep it at home?!
Also, it’s just an idea of mine, whether or not to execute it, it’s not up to us to say.”
Although Zhang Qiqi spoke convincingly, what she didn’t understand was why Jiang Yan, with a perfectly good villa, would choose to stay here. @@novelbin@@
This logic flowed in a sequence that made Zhang Qiming pause:
Indeed, looking at today’s trend, this heat may not end anytime soon.
And this heatwave was literally a global phenomenon.
The apocalypse might really be coming.
All this dreaming of marrying a wealthy beauty and leading a lazy, comfortable life, seems truly unimportant now.
Surviving is what matters.
Convincing himself of this, he sighed quietly and fell silent.
Liu Dahong glanced at the two whispering in the corner and said, “Beauty, you haven’t finished what you were saying.”
Zhang Qiqi squeezed Zhang Qiming’s hand and then walked forward with a smile, “Manager Liu, now everybody fears the high temperature and shortage of supplies, but what else are they afraid of?”
“Blood Mosquito?”
After Liu Dahong spoke, he glanced at her and said, “Do you mean to let the Blood Mosquito eliminate some of the residents?”
A cold, mocking smile flicked across Zhang Qiqi’s eyes.
She didn’t respond, but her intent was clear.
“Currently, no one dares to go out to the garden, we can’t possibly call all the residents out… The key is as long as we don’t expose skin, those Blood Mosquitoes can’t really attack,” said Supervisor A.
Even if the mosquito’s proboscis mutates, it can’t evolve from flesh to metal.
Zhang Qiqi smiled, “We are used to luring the enemy deep, closing doors to beat the dog. Don’t we know about welcoming guests too? If no one comes out, then let the mosquitoes in!”
“But our duty as property management is to ensure the safety of each apartment’s doors. Currently, the community is as secure as a fortified castle, unattacked by Blood Mosquitoes, and it’s also thanks to the diligent brothers in property management. If we open the doors, wouldn’t that be akin to stealing from ourselves? And if responsibility is pursued later…” Supervisor B said, his heart uneasy as he glanced at Liu Dahong.
Nevermind responsibility, their own psychological defenses were already failing.
Zhang Qiqi scolded them like they were hopeless, “Who said you have to open the doors? Some residents leave their doors unlatched, it’s not impossible. As for responsibility?
You’ve also seen the moral standards and bottom line of our fellow residents, didn’t you? See what crap they throw out?!
People daring to abandon even their own parents, who else should we punish if not them? Simply put, we are carrying out justice on behalf of the heavens, executing the law for them! Besides, do you really think this heatwave is going to end? Dream on!
Even if it actually ends, the blame will fall on someone else!”
Supervisor C immediately understood her meaning, chiming in:
“I think the lady makes a good point, one can’t trap a wolf without risking some sheep! Now, there’s no surveillance left in the community, we can wait for it to get dark later tonight, quietly open the doors, and let the Blood Mosquitoes in. No one would know. If anyone asks, we could say it was those who left for the official shelters today who didn’t close the doors properly.
Today, all the residents will move downstairs, and given the lack of incidents in the buildings during this period, everyone is hot enough to expose their limbs, unlike us who consider protection. Those mosquitoes are famished. If they swarm, just one bite drains half a tube of blood!
I reckon at least half the population here could be reduced. If it’s precisely them who get bitten, it’s truly their own bad luck. No one to blame.”
Liu Dahong had remained silent.
He furrowed his brows and was silent for a few seconds before finally concluding softly,
“Less people, it’s not just about easier management.”
“????”
The others looked at each other puzzled, their gazes turning collectively toward him.
What do you think?
