Apocalypse: After Being Reborn, I Stocked Up on All Supplies

Chapter 67 - 67 Ye Qing

Chapter 67: Chapter 67 Ye Qing

Su Dai hesitated for a second, her gaze flickered to her husband, and she said softly,

“Little friend, auntie doesn’t have any sugar, oh.”

Seeing the child’s hollow-cheeked, sallow, and thin figure that obviously hungered, she actually felt somewhat distressed.

But seeing her husband’s frown, it was clear he was indicating that they couldn’t give any right now.

With so many people around, opening this can of worms would lead to unpredictable consequences.

Moreover, sometimes people can choose to be kind, but they shouldn’t choose to be brainless.

“Xiao Su, you don’t have sugar, but others do!” A white-haired old man spoke with a tremble.

He said this while lifting his dragon-headed cane to point at the half-bag of White Sugar sticking out of Tian Jiliang’s hands.

Tian Jiliang did not expect to be innocently cued up and without a second thought coldly refused,

“Uncle Zhang, sorry, I can’t give it to you!”

“Why can’t you give it?!” Another little boy said plaintively and then burst into tears with a “waah.”

Two little girls even got up and ran towards Su Dai.

She was the only lady in the team.

And her appearance was of the delicate and gentle type without the faintest hint of aggression, not stained with blood, nor did she wield any weapons.

The only one everyone felt they could approach was her.

Sun Jingtao saw this and quickly stepped forward to shield his wife behind him.

The two little girls, smelling the blood on his body, recoiled with a flash of terror in their eyes.

But after quickly glancing back at the old people and children, they turned around again, sat on the ground, each reached out, and clung to Sun Jingtao and Tian Jiliang’s legs.

“Uncle, I want candy!”

“Uncle, give me candy!”

Su Dai: “…”

Sun Jingtao, already burdened with a pile of supplies, wasn’t as agile as usual and simply couldn’t dodge in time.

Staring at a brood of wailing children, he furrowed his brow and took a deep breath.

Tian Jiliang wanted to kick them away, but one child stubbornly clung to his foot like a cloying lump of hard glue.

“Xiao Sun, Xiao Tian, these children are pleading with such hardship, how can you bear it?!” Those old people sitting on the ground continued to question unmoving.

The normally cultured Tian Jiliang felt a rush of anger upon hearing their words and retorted with sarcasm,

“We can’t bear it, can you?!! Can the parents of these children bear it?!!”

Then he added furiously, “You send the children to pull at our heartstrings with this sob-story strategy; you might as well come up and rob us directly!!!!”

If the adults had come forward to rob them, as dreadfully as Liu Dahong and Pot Lid Head, they would have already picked up their weapons.

After all, following the “bloody battle” they had recently experienced, their courage was far from ordinary.

But what they faced now were the helpless elders and children with no power to fight back.

And they were neighbors they had known for many years.

Some of the children used to warmly call them “uncle” when they met after work.

At this moment, they truly found it hard to strike.

So, this ploy by their opponents was truly low and despicable!

“Xiao Tian, how can you talk like that?!” An old woman with a face full of wrinkles angrily stood up upon hearing his words.

Perhaps she had been sitting on the chilly ground for too long, her legs had gone numb, and due to rising too swiftly she felt faint, staggering slightly in mid-air.

“How am I speaking? Aunt Ye, you’re all about to crap on our heads, and you have the nerve to blame us for not handing you toilet paper?!! Fuck!”

“Xiao Tian, you—” Aunt Ye was choked up by his words, face flushed and neck bulging.

“Bang!”

Somebody bumped into a fire door, and the sound of metal clashing resonated.

Hearing this noise, some among the old men and women quickly changed the subject:

“You guys can’t monopolize these supplies!!” @@novelbin@@

“That’s right! These supplies were originally sent to us by the authorities, they should be distributed equally, what gives you the right to keep them for yourselves?!”

Sun Jingtao had originally intended to hold back and try to persuade them gently.

But judging by the situation, it was clearly pointless.

The others were set on dragging this conflict out, so he clenched his teeth and said in a stern voice,

“Old sirs, old madams, we need to go upstairs, please make way! If you don’t make way, don’t blame us for being impolite!”

“Yo, Xiao Sun, I remember you work for a public institution; don’t be so fierce in your words. Later, if the disaster passes and someone from our group simply files an anonymous report, I’m afraid you won’t be getting off so easily!”

This sort of talk was worse than saying nothing at all.

“Heh, Sun Jingtao, who are you threatening?! I’ll be straightforward: either everyone leaves half their supplies behind and then goes,

or you’ll have to step over our dead bodies to leave! We’re already half-buried in the ground, we’re not afraid of death!!” The old man who had been holding a dragon-headed cane slowly got up.

Sun Jingtao was nearly faint with frustration due to his unreasonable attitude.

“Old Man Zhang, don’t be so shameless for your age!! You think we wouldn’t dare?!!” Tian Jiliang almost jumped up as well.

The faces of the elderly showed no hint of any sentiment, as if they had accurately gauged their bottom line.

Sun Jingtao’s frown deepened.

“Brother Tao.” Ye Qing suddenly stepped forward and whispered a few words in his ear.

While the others had been verbally sparring with the opposition, Ye Qing had quietly been making a plan with some of the team members.

It was only now that it had come to him.

Listening to his scheme, Sun Jingtao showed a rather troubled expression: “This— doesn’t seem right.”

“Brother Tao, my parents died because villains took children and the elderly hostage, and in their weakness, they traded their own lives for the hostages. But little did they know, those old people and children were the villains’ parents and offspring.

How are these people’s actions any different from those villains? If they knew the danger and still pushed their children and parents forward as human shields, how are these people any different from scum!”

Ye Qing finished speaking, and upon seeing Sun Jingtao torn, he continued,

“Brother Tao, remember, in the apocalypse, your kindness will not satiate the evil of human nature.”

“…” Sun Jingtao stared blankly at Ye Qing’s stern, earnest face:

What on earth has this kid experienced over the years???!!!

Ye Qing ignored Sun Jingtao’s complex gaze and took a stride forward.

He swept a cold glance over everyone and then announced in an icy tone,

“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m young, hot-headed, and quick-tempered. Now, I’m going to count to three, and if you don’t make way! Then, don’t blame us for not being polite!!!”

The old men and women were startled by his words and the fierce intensity of his demeanour, but they quickly resumed their carefree attitude as if they had nothing to lose.

Ye Qing bellowed, “One!”

The elders were mentally preparing to count “two” with him, but saw Ye Qing give a swish of his hand, and the group, with a leap, surged forward.

Before they could react, everyone was grabbed by their collars and roughly dragged and tossed to one side.

“What??!!”

“Ow, my old bones!!”

“But you didn’t count to three! Young people have no sense of fair play!!”

“Murder!!”

“Help!!”

“…”

Everything happened in the blink of an eye.

“Bang!!”

Ye Qing faced the locked fire door and kicked it fiercely!

“Boom!”

“Ow!”

The sound of someone’s head being struck by the door echoed from behind it.
