Chapter 128 Blazing Duel
CLANG!
Isla's eyes went wide with shock.
That wasn't possible.
Alex had reacted like he had seen her attack coming a mile away.
And even crazier, he hadn't dodged.
But rather, he had raised his hand to block it.
Her energy beam should have torn through his arm, cutting straight to the bone.
But instead, it had vanished.
Like it had never even been fired.
Alex slowly lowered his arm, staring at his wrist.
For a brief second, a faint glow flickered—revealing a bracelet—before it dispersed like it wasn't there.
[Anti-Magic Gauntlet]
The gauntlet had an effect that made it invisible to others, and he had been wearing it all along, ever since he first got it.
But until now, he had never actually been pushed hard enough to use it.
His expression darkened as his eyes snapped toward Isla.
The fierce, determined look on her face didn't change.
But Alex's thoughts were clear.
She needs to go.
CRACK!
Akio broke free from the [Petrify] spell, muscles bulging with raw power as he charged at Alex again.
At the same time, a blur of motion came from behind.
Kato.
His katana gleamed, moving in a deadly arc—
And Alex seemed completely unaware of his approach.
Kato's lips curled into a victorious grin.
This was it.
He would cut Alex down in one clean stroke.
His katana whipped forward, Kato's blade whistling through the air—
But Alex simply tilted his head slightly, dodging it like he had eyes in the back of his head.
Then he vanished.
[Stealth Walk] activated.
Akio and Kato froze, their eyes darting around.
Where did he go?!
The air felt thick.
Their grips tightened around their weapons, and their senses were on high alert.
Then a flicker.
A shadowy blur reappeared, and it was rushing straight for Isla.
His intent was obvious.
He was going to eliminate the sorcerer.
"Shit!"
Akio and Kato reacted instantly, surging forward to intercept him—
But before they could, Alex's hand snapped backward, and he threw something.
A small, dark object spun through the air.@@novelbin@@
Their eyes tracked it.
A rock?
No...
Their instincts screamed at them.
There was no way it was an ordinary rock.
Kato's katana flashed, ready to swat it away—
But then, Alex snapped his fingers.
BOOM!
The [Blast Shard] exploded in a blinding flash of fire and shockwave.
Kato and Akio were sent flying, their bodies twisting midair before slamming into the dirt.
Dust swirled.
Rubble fell.
And now, Isla stood alone.
Her body shuddered.
Her breath hitched.
And then—
Alex emerged from the smoke.
Two black blades in hand.
His eyes glowed with a predatory glint.
The sight sent a chill down her spine.
It was like watching a demon march forward to claim her soul.
But Isla wasn't weak.
She forced a steady exhale, pushing back the fear.
She could still fight.
She had to fight.
Her grip on her staff tightened.
Then, she thrust it forward and fired a storm of energy bolts.
WHIZZ!
WHIZZ!
WHIZZ!
They tore through the air, aiming straight for Alex.
But, Alex didn't slow down.
He zigzagged, moving unpredictably.
He leaped.
He twisted.
Avoiding the attack.
Every single energy bolt missed its target.
And before she knew it—
He was almost on her.
Isla's heart pounded.
Her lips moved quickly, uttering an incantation.
And then there was a deafening crack.
The ground froze over as an ice golem erupted in front of her.
A towering figure of frost and stone.
It slammed its fists together, acting as a living wall, atank, blocking Alex's path.
The ice golem towered over Alex, its frost-covered body steaming as it radiated an intense chill.
Crackling ice spread beneath its feet.
The air froze.
It was colossal, a true force of destruction.
Yet, Alex grinned.
Unfazed.
This only confirmed what he already knew.
Taking Isla out first was the right choice.
Before the golem could even move, Alex thrust his hands forward.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Black flames erupted.
A barrage of scorching, cursed fire slammed into the ice behemoth.
The force pushed it back, its massive form skidding across the frozen ground.
Then..
SIZZLE.
The flames began to consume it.
Cracks spread.
Chunks of its frozen limbs melted and crumbled.
Its arms snapped off. Its legs buckled.
And then it collapsed.
A pile of steaming, broken ice.
Isla's breath hitched.
Her body trembled.
She had poured almost everything into summoning that golem, only to watch Alex burn it to nothing.
Her skin turned pale.
She was running on fumes.
And now, she was completely exposed.
Her eyes darted behind Alex, and she spotted Akio charging forward frantically, his axe raised.
But, he wouldn't make it in time.
And Alex was already closing the distance.
Isla's heart pounded.
She had to buy time—it was her only chance.
Desperately, she stepped back and raised her staff, trying to use [Storm Cage] once again.
Wind howled, crackling with the intensity of a storm, swirling around her staff and she directed it towards Alex.
The cage should've trapped Alex in seconds.
But, he was too fast.
He dodged with impossible agility, slipping through the gusts like a shadow, avoiding the stormy snare.
Isla's stomach dropped.
Dread sank in as she realized wasn't going to win this.
Her only choice was to use the last of her mana blink away, to escape.
She raised her staff high, preparing to teleport.
But just as the spell formed...
THWACK!
A small projectile struck her hand with precision.
The pain shot up her arm as her fingers slipped, causing her staff to fall from her grip.
A pebble.
Alex had used [Minor Telekinesis] to direct the tiny stone, hitting the back of her hand and disarming her in an instant.
Isla's eyes widened in panic.
She lunged for her staff, hoping to reclaim it, but it was too late.
Before she could react, she heard Alex's voice—low, commanding:
"Petrify."
Her body froze.
It wasn't full strength—not anymore, not with the energy she had left—but it was enough to lock Isla in place for a few crucial seconds.
And in those seconds, she could feel the crushing weight of fear—her body paralyzed, her options slipping away.
Time slowed.
Isla's body was still, trapped by Alex's skill.
Fear took over, her breath shallow as she saw him approach.
Her doom was inevitable.
In one smooth, fluid motion, Alex reached her.
His expression was calm, but his gaze—cold and determined—never left her.
He raised his blade, without hesitation. Experience new tales on My Virtual Library Empire
Then:
CLEAVE!
The sound of metal cutting through flesh was sharp and brutal. Alex's blade sliced through Isla from her shoulder to her waist, a clean cut that left disbelief in her eyes.
Her body split into two.
The halves of Isla's torso fell to the ground, lifeless, in a mess of blood and broken form.
Alex stood over her, but there was no satisfaction in his eyes—only focus.
Then he got a notification, and his eyes flickered to it.

Before Alex could even read the rest of the message, a shift in the air caught his attention.
He turned and then saw Onigi rise to his feet.
The old man was making a move.
What do you think?
