Apocalypse: I Built the Infinite Train

Chapter 133: Underestimated

Ratatatatatat!

On the Infinite Train, bullets hammered against the train’s armored exterior. Outside, the chaos reached a new level—zombies flooded in through a breach in the rail barriers, tearing into both sides indiscriminately.

The once-distant firefight had turned into brutal close-quarters combat, with casualties mounting on both sides!

Inside Car No. 3, Zhao Yan and Xu Wen cowered in fear as the gunfire intensified.

"AHHH!! Why did we stop?!" Zhao Yan screamed.

"Did the tracks get blocked? Why aren’t we just leaving?!" Xu Wen shouted in panic.

Across from them, Ding Junyi remained completely unfazed, tapping away at her laptop as if the battle outside was none of her concern.

"Director Ding, get down! Bullets are flying everywhere!" Zhao Yan cried.

"The windows in the research carriage are bulletproof. The entire train is reinforced to P5-grade protection, with additional external armor. Ordinary bullets won’t affect us at all," Ding Junyi replied calmly, her hands never stopping on the keyboard. "Since we can’t help, don’t make unnecessary noise and distract others."

Zhao Yan’s shrieks slowly faded as she realized the logic in Ding Junyi’s words. Her face twisted in frustration, but she clamped her mouth shut and covered her ears, waiting anxiously for the battle outside to end.

BOOM! BOOM!

Meanwhile, Lin Xian was closing in on the fallen Guo Er, unleashing relentless gunfire. Snow and dust burst into the air as the gray-winged birdman suddenly darted sideways.

At the same time, a black object tumbled toward Lin Xian’s feet.

A live grenade!

Lin Xian reacted instantly. With a flick of his wrist, he extended a mechanical clamp, snatched the grenade mid-air, and hurled it right back at Guo Er in one fluid motion.

Guo Er, still retreating, barely had time to register what had happened before the very same grenade he had thrown came hurtling back at him.

"You f**king b*stard! What kind of freak has a mechanical hand that long?!" he cursed.

In reflex, he snapped his wings shut and raised his cybernetic arm to block the blast.

BOOM!

The explosion ripped through his wings, shrapnel punching bloody holes into them.

Blackened by soot and seething with rage, Guo Er realized he had completely underestimated his opponent. Panic seized him—this wasn’t a fight he could win.

"Screw it, I'll just take out a few weaklings before I retreat!"

Determined to change tactics, he twisted in the air, adjusting his trajectory to target the more vulnerable survivors in the convoy.

But just as he turned—

WHOOSH!

Darkness.

A giant electrical transmission tower, as if suddenly alive, snapped in half and came swinging toward him!

CRACK! ZZZZZZZZT!

Dozens of power cables snapped, and the steel tower, controlled by an unseen force, slammed into him mid-air.

BAM!

Guo Er crashed into the ground like a swatted fly, rolling to a stop beside the railway tracks.

Near Infinite Train’s open carriage door, KIKI lowered her right hand, her eyes glimmering with faint light.

"Hmph. Flap those wings all you want, you’re still just a crow," she sneered.

CRACK.

Guo Er groaned as he struggled to his feet—his wings were shattered, his bones fractured.

He glanced toward the train, where two figures were approaching—Lin Xian and KIKI.

Fear gripped him.

Flying high and looking down on his victims, he had always felt untouchable. Now? He was prey.

Lightning abilities. Telekinesis.

What kind of monsters were on this train?!

Guo Er’s mind screamed retreat.

"This level of ability... I should leave this for the boss."

Click!

He activated a small cylindrical device on his mechanical prosthetic—a miniature explosive—his last trump card.

But just as his fingers reached for it—

WHOOSH!

A dark shadow lunged at him!

"Who—?!"

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Gunfire erupted as Blonde Thug fired to cover Guo Er.

But it was too late. The shadow dodged every bullet, reaching Guo Er in seconds.

THUMP!

A boot slammed onto his mechanical arm, pinning him down.

Before Guo Er could react—

CRACK!

The shadow twisted his wrist, ripping the entire prosthetic arm off his body.

At the same moment, the figure spun around, raising a massive black shotgun, aiming it point-blank at Guo Er’s head.

Two barrels.

A Remington M96.

Guo Er stared into the abyss of those twin muzzles.

Fck…

BOOM!

His head exploded like a watermelon, chunks of skull and brain splattering onto the snow.

Three seconds.

A flawless sequence—sprint, disarm, turn, execute.

The shadow stood tall, gripping the still-smoking shotgun.

Shu Qin.

Lin Xian and KIKI stared, momentarily stunned.

"Whoa, that was fast! Is she an ability user?" KIKI gasped.

Lin Xian, eyes narrowing, shook his head.

"She’s not."

He had assumed Shu Qin and Xu Jin’s group were just hardened survivors—tough, sure, but ordinary.

Now?

He realized he had completely underestimated them.

Ding Junyi had once told him:

"Those who survived the Polar Night, even without abilities, have evolved beyond human limits."

Shu Qin was proof. She was no ordinary human.

She wasn’t here by luck—she had earned her survival.

"YOU MOTHERF**KER!!!"

Blonde Thug, seeing Guo Er’s headless corpse, lost it.

Raging, he sprayed bullets at Shu Qin with his AK-47.

Shu Qin sidestepped, throwing the severed mechanical arm toward Lin Xian as she dashed forward with inhuman speed.

At the same time, the Infinite Train convoy opened fire on Blonde Thug.

Rat-tat-tat-tat!

Lin Xian’s eyes glinted as he caught the prosthetic arm mid-air. With a flick of his wrist, he fired wind cannons toward Shu Qin, covering her advance.

Blonde Thug was caught off guard. A wind blast tore through his abdomen, leaving a gaping wound.

"F**k!" He scrambled into the zombie horde, using the chaos for cover.

Lin Xian frowned. Even if this guy had enhanced physical abilities?

"LOLO! UNLEASH THE HORDE!!!"

Blonde Thug yelled into his walkie-talkie, finally realizing they had miscalculated.

This convoy was not an easy target.

But they had one last trump card—the zombie swarm.

On the Black Crow convoy, Lolo, the purple-haired woman, bit her lip. Seeing the battle turn against them, she activated her ability.

Her eyes gleamed green, radiating an unseen force.

ROAAAAARRRR!!!

The zombies turned rabid—their eyes gleamed with insane bloodlust, their target shifting toward the Infinite Train convoy.

"Oh no! They’ve unleashed the horde!" Xu Jin shouted.

BAM!

The side panel of a heavy-duty truck slammed open.

A modified electric Gatling gun was wheeled out.

"Hold the line!!!"

WHIRRRRRRR!

DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-DA!!!

The six-barreled beast roared, shredding the oncoming zombies.

But it was too late—

They were now fighting on two fronts.
