Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Chapter 243 243: Can never understand people like her

When Dacheng saw that Bai Meiyue was rushing at the zombies without caring about the rest, he was slightly surprised. Why was this woman charging at those monsters? Shouldn't she use her supernatural abilities to deal with these monsters?

Bai Meiyue naturally ignored Dacheng and chopped down the head of a zombie that was staggering towards her. Why would she use her abilities to kill these zombies that couldn't even run at the moment? Wasn't it equivalent to killing an ant with a sword?

What was more, the ability of a person was not unlimited. It was stored within a person's core like a reserve and this reserve was recharged and refueled each time the ability user absorbed the energy within the crystal nuclei. And the stronger the ability of a person was, the more crystal nuclei they would need to replenish their ability.

Why would Bai Meiyue use her ability for no reason? It was better to save as much as possible; after all, there would be a lot of zombies at the city hospital. If she was to waste her abilities here, then what would she do at the hospital?

And who said that just because she was an ability user she could not kill these zombies with her sword? Was there a rule that stated that she needed to kill with her abilities? It was her ability. If she wanted, then she would use them, and if she didn't like it, she wouldn't do it. Who was Dacheng to ask her why she was not using them?

More importantly, relying on abilities completely was simply foolish. Sometimes, there were situations when the abilities of a user would be of no use to them. And at those times, it was the strong body and skills of a person that would help them.

But of course, Bai Meiyue would not bother telling these things to Dacheng. That man was way too ambitious for Bai Meiyue's liking. It was better to stay on guard against her.

Not to mention, he was in cahoots with Lu Yin.

Anyone who liked Lu Yin could never be her friend.

Dacheng, of course, knew that Bai Meiyue was resistant towards her but he was unwilling to let go of her. Though he didn't understand how Bai Meiyue knew so much about the current situation, it seemed like this woman was much more useful than Lu Yin.

This morning, he heard Lei Qian talking about the mutated dog and how Bai Meiyue saved his life. That man kept saying that Bai Meiyue had read an article that relayed information about the end of the world by a blogger. But Dacheng didn't believe it.

Even if the blogger did publish an article, they couldn't have known everything so deeply about the apocalypse. But Bai Meiyue's knowledge was way too deep; it was as if she had gone through such things before. Dacheng knew that it was impossible but something about Bai Meiyue was off.

And he was determined to find out about it.

With that thought, he raised the dagger in his hands and charged at the zombies; for the time being, he would follow whatever Bai Meiyue was doing.

Soon more and more of the zombies sensed them and the battle situation turned more intense. Even Lei Qian and Lei Yan had to unleash their abilities to kill the zombies as they completely gave up on controlling the situation with weapons.

On the other hand, Jiang Haidai saw the zombies attacking Bai Meiyue and the rest; she gulped before covering her son thickly. She then tied him on her back and said to him, "Guo Guo, stay very quiet, okay? Only make a noise when these monsters attack mommy from behind, okay?"

Meng Guo agreed with a soft whisper. He was scared of the beasts in front of him but there was nothing he could do but listen to his mother. Since, his mother asked him to stay quiet as she fought with the monsters, then Guo Guo would do it!

Jiang Haidai then padded her pregnant belly to make sure that the unborn child wouldn't suffer with her and picked up the panga in her hands.

"Don't rush." Meng Suisui saw that Jiang Haidai was already sweating and soothingly spoke to her. "There is no need to run right into the mob of the zombies; just take care of the ones that Sister Meiyue and the rest miss."

"But—"

"There is no need to worry," Meng Suisui patted the woman on the back, as she knew what she was worried about. "Sister Meiyue don't expect too much from you, just make sure that you don't become a burden on her. As long as you can get ten or twenty crystal nuclei at the start, it would be enough."

"We are the same," Director Feng walked up while panting. He had his hands on his knees and was breathing heavily. "We can't kill more than ten zombies every day, twenty if we are in good condition. So, take it easy, girl."

Jiang Haidai felt a bit more relieved when she heard Director Feng and Meng Suisui's words. She then followed the two of them and killed the zombies that were not killed by Bai Meiyue or the rest of the team.

Of course, she didn't succeed at once and needed a lot of help but Jiang Haidai was unwilling to drop the weapon in her hands.

When Bai Meiyue saw that Jiang Haidai was willing to kill zombies, she deliberately stepped away such that a few zombies would stagger over to where Jiang Haidai and the rest were fighting with the zombies.

She, of course, didn't let more than three zombies escape her grasp, lest the situation turn chaotic and dangerous. She wanted Jiang Haidai and the rest to get stronger but not at the cost of their lives!

However, just as she turned her head away, she saw Lu Yin creeping right behind Lei Qian.
