Chapter 1853 Stupid Alliance
Chapter 1853 Stupid Alliance
Collin Morton considered putting the big faction as the main share, but that would dilute their share to two point five percent instead of five percent. Then what was the point of merging the alliance and offending the United Sovereign and The Tang Empire if they had to reduce their share further compared to when they were in The United Alliance.
"We will talk about its details, and we will think of a way to compensate The Kingdom of Sand, King Igmar," Collin Morton tried to console the angry king.
Tang Shaoyang watched everything from the sideline, and he was amazed at how Herman managed to isolate one opposition faction. Igmar might hate Herman because it started from his proposal, but Igmar would hate The North Federation, The Whitney Kingdom, and The Kingdom of Napoles more. Herman directed the hostility to these three, turning allies into enemies.
He was amazed, but that was it. Herman made the meeting less boring as he got to see Igmar's fumed expression. No matter how angry Igmar was, the king was helpless. The helpless king could not do anything to keep his right in the main seat. Offending the four big factions was not wise no matter how stupid Igmar was. In the end, Igmar crumpled on his chair helplessly.
Herman, Collin Morton, Victor, and Marco turned toward Tang Shaoyang. They only needed his approval, and then they would merge.
Tang Shaoyang had heard the details of the alliance. If any factions from the four worlds discovered a resource such as mine and gardens, they had to split it equally. Meaning each alliance would get twenty-five percent of harvested resources.
The original agreement for the Earth Alliance was that they shared the twenty-five percent share equally. If a faction under their alliance found the resource, then the said faction would get a five percent share from the twenty-five percent while the Tang Empire and The United Sovereign got ten percent. It was a fair deal since The United Sovereign and The Tang Empire would protect them from the three alliances' aggression, so it would be safer for them to explore the tower.
It was a fair split, but it was stupid in Tang Shaoyang's eyes. He could not understand why Zhang Mengyao agreed to such an agreement, but he quickly realized why Zhang Mengyao and the others agreed to the proposal. In his absence, they played it safe because he was not with them all the time, and it would be better to work together with the United Sovereign than fight all big factions without him.
"Do you have any suggestions for the agreement, Sir?" Herman asked with a smile.
Tang Shaoyang smiled widely. Zhang Mengyao, Kang Xue, and Rosalie had a bad feeling when they saw his smile. It was an unnatural smile, not even a forced smile, but unnatural. They knew that Tang Shaoyang was up to something when he made that kind of smile, and they were right about it.
"I have a better solution so our friends here don't have to fight for the main seat or even leave behind."
Herman was surprised to hear that, and he was glad that The Emperor had a better solution. For the first time, Victor Brent Whitney's expression changed, furrowing his brow as he had a feeling that he might not like the suggestion. Collin Morton and Marco also did not like the way The Emperor said it, as if there was a hidden meaning. Igmar was not happy in the slightest when he heard it as well, in fact, he was suspicious of The Emperor.
"We would like to hear your suggestion, Sir," Herman took the lead to speak with The Emperor since the four faction leaders seemed not wanting to speak.
"The Kingdom of Sand can take The Tang Empire's share instead. There's no reason for the Tang Empire to continue this alliance that barely brings benefits to the empire," Tang Shaoyang shook his head.
Herman's smile froze, Victor Brent Whitney's frown deepened, Collin Morton and Marco's expressions turned ugly, and Igmar was confused.
Herman took a deep breath and tried to calm down, "Can you elaborate more about your solution, Sir?" He tried to be polite.
"Is it not clear enough? The Tang Empire will step down from the alliance, and you can enjoy your political game yourself, gentlemen," Tang Shaoyang maintained his unnatural smile while answering the obvious.
"Can you tell me why The Tang Empire suddenly stepped down from the alliance?" Herman was holding his anger because he felt like The Emperor did not give the respect The United Sovereign deserved. If the Tang Empire wanted to step down from the alliance, they must discuss it with him instead of saying it in front of the other factions.
"Isn't it obvious? Why do I have to share the resources with you guys? It doesn't make sense, at all. The reason I want to create the Earth Alliance is so that we can avoid conflict among ourselves, not to share my resources while risking my people's lives for you," Tang Shaoyang did not bother to mask his words with politeness.
"Let's say that another city found our city and they attacked us. What can you do when their God Ranks target our alliance? Do you expect the three worlds will protect you? Or do you expect my people to risk their lives for yours?"
Tang Shaoyang turned toward Herman, "The fact that you try to take an even split from our original is outrageous enough, and now you want to lower my share even more just to protect your little profit outside the tower? Do you take me as a fool? Are you looking down on The Tang Empire just because we are being nice to you, Sir Herman!?"
"Watch your tone when you speak to our king! Are you aware the tower is in the United Sovereign's territory?" Richard, one of the United Sovereign's Generals that had reached the Demi-God Rank a few months ago. He could not accept it when the other faction leader talked down to The King. He heard a lot about The Emperor, but he had not seen The Emperor in action yet.
The Tang Empire might be the strongest faction on Earth based on the Leaderboards, but they were in the United Sovereign's territory. They had to pass the army of the United Sovereign's army.
Henry, the youngest General, had been with Herman the longest, ever since The First Order Guild. He forcefully pushed Richard's head to bow toward The Emperor. He was about to force Richard to apologize, but The Emperor spoke first.
"Oh, I am aware that we are in The United Sovereign's territory. Are you aware that it was me who allowed it to happen? And I am curious what you will do, should we find out?" Tang Shaoyang grinned. The smile turned into a grin, and he looked at Herman because the man who spoke was forced to bow.
Richard tried to break away, but he could not because Henry was much higher in level and stronger than him, "Apologize to Sir Tang Shaoyang!" Henry whispered forcefully.
"NO! WHY DO We—" Henry was smart enough to push Richard's jaw up so the man did not finish whatever he wanted to say.
"Bring him outside and calm him down, Henry," Herman commanded with a sigh.
Henry forcefully brought Richard outside the room. As the two left, the atmosphere inside the room was getting worse and worse. It looked like the Tang Empire wanted to dissolve the cooperation even with The United Sovereign.
It was bad even from The United Alliance's perspective. The three worlds might only take the Tang Empire into the city alliance instead of them. Without a doubt, the three worlds had investigated them, and the Tang Empire was the most standing out faction compared to all of them.
Herman closed his eyes and looked up at Zhang Mengyao, "Does Emperor Tang know about our agreement beforehand, Miss Zhang?"
"I don't know, but maybe. But I have to apologize, Sir Herman. Regardless of our previous agreement, the Emperor's decision is absolute," Zhang Mengyao let out a sigh, "And His Majesty is right. We are taking the most responsibility if something goes wrong with the alliance from the other worlds, and yet we split the share evenly despite the risk we bear. I have to agree that our previous agreement is indeed not fair, Sir Herman."
Zhang Mengyao could not help but feel stupid that Herman managed to convince her to agree with such a stupid agreement. She thought she played it safe, but she failed to realize that the actual threat came from the other worlds, not the factions from Earth. She could not believe that she agreed with such an agreement, she was risking her people to protect the people from the other factions. She was ashamed to look Tang Shaoyang in the eyes, she once more had failed him again. Fortunately, she maintained her poker, or else she would have a breakdown right now.
Tang Shaoyang stood up, "The reason I propose the alliance is so we can avoid conflict in the tower between us, not to create a conflict. We should fight together, but it seems like you exploit my goodwill for your benefit, Herman. I am disappointed that you fail to see the big picture because of your greed."
"Then are you suggesting we fight the three worlds, Tang Shaoyang?" Herman threw away the politeness and questioned The Emperor. Deep inside, he knew that he did something he was not supposed to, but his frustration won over his rationality.
Tang Shaoyang let out a chuckle, "Greed makes you dull, huh? Why do you agree to form an alliance with them in the first place? Why do we agree with those stupid shares?"
Tang Shaoyang stood up, shaking his head, "You take what you find, why do you want to share them? Afraid that they will gang up on us? Do you think they will spare their force to fight us? NO! Because they are also wary of each other. If one of the alliances makes a move against us and suffers a loss, the remaining two alliances will take that chance to get rid of them. No one will openly war against us, but you have to be careful of their scheme. That's the reason why I want to create an alliance. We will fight them together if they try to scheme against us, not to share the resources we found with them!"
What do you think?
