As a Fisherman, My Fish Can Level Up

Chapter 59 - 59 Mom, how did you get here?

Chapter 59: Chapter 59 Mom, how did you get here?

When they got back to Yanmen Island, it was already past four in the afternoon, and Chu Mingcheng had bought some groceries to entertain Jiang Luoluo at his home.

However, as soon as they arrived, they found the back door open and could faintly hear the sound of people talking in the front yard.

“Ah Cheng, it couldn’t be that your family has come, could it!” The door being open didn’t seem like the work of a thief. There was only one other possibility, which Jiang Luoluo guessed and suddenly felt a bit nervous about.

“That might be the case!” At this moment, Chu Mingcheng also inexplicably felt a bit guilty, as if experiencing the awkwardness and embarrassment of encountering one’s parents while on a date with a girl.

“How about we sneak away now and go check into a hotel for me? Can you find a chance to bring my luggage over later tonight?”

Although there wasn’t a special relationship between Jiang Luoluo and Chu Mingcheng, the experience they had that morning made her feel differently about him.

If it had been before, she could have faced his parents confidently and without nervousness.

But now, she found herself feeling unprepared and lacking confidence.

“Alright, let’s leave for now.” Chu Mingcheng did not intend to let his family see Jiang Luoluo either. If discovered, he was sure his parents would barrage him with questions.

If they knew he was just treating such a beautiful girl as a regular friend, they would feel deeply disappointed and would nag him daily to “secure” Jiang Luoluo.

Chu Mingcheng felt that their current way of getting along was comfortable, and besides, he was about to focus on making money and upgrading his aquaculture manual. Who had time for this damn romance!

Sometimes, the things you don’t want are more likely to happen.

Just as Chu Mingcheng and Jiang Luoluo turned to make their getaway, a woman’s voice rang out from behind them.

“Ah Cheng, you’re back. Is this your friend?”

An Xiuwen had come over today to clean up their old house because she was worried her son was too busy fishing to maintain it.

Upon entering, she immediately noticed a pink suitcase, quite certain that her son would never have such a suitcase.

Her son having a female friend or girlfriend, something An Xiuwen had never heard him mention before, took her by surprise and piqued her curiosity.

She waited and waited but didn’t see her son return, so she decided to clean the house and just as she came to the front yard, she happened to meet the next-door neighbors.

Chu Mingcheng was not familiar with these neighbors, merely greeting them when they met.

But An Xiuwen had lived here for so long and the age gap wasn’t big, so naturally, she engaged in a good chat with these neighbors.

However, she was continuously preoccupied with thoughts of her son’s friend and soon went back inside, only to catch sight of the two trying to leave through the back door.

“Mom, why did you come today? This is my friend, Jiang Luoluo.” Having been spotted, Chu Mingcheng had no choice but to turn around and introduce them.

Jiang Luoluo, who was usually straightforward and bold, was uncharacteristically shy as she greeted An Xiuwen: “Hello, Auntie.”

‘Such a beautiful girl!’

Seeing Jiang Luoluo clearly, An Xiuwen, who was a great beauty in her youth, couldn’t help but silently praise her.

“Luoluo, may I call you that?”

“Of course you may!”

Seeing An Xiuwen’s pleased smile, Chu Mingcheng felt helpless inside. He knew that once Jiang Luoluo left, he would have to face his mother’s relentless bombardment.

But what happened next surprised him.

An Xiuwen affectionately pulled Jiang Luoluo into the living room: “Luoluo, where were you two planning to go?”

Jiang Luoluo hurriedly answered, “Auntie, I came back to get my suitcase. I’m going to stay at a hotel tonight.”

“Why go to a hotel? It’s a waste of money and not safe. Why don’t you stay with Auntie tonight!”

“Ah?” Jiang Luoluo was totally bewildered.

Chu Mingcheng blinked, secretly marveling at his mom’s prowess, managing to persuade her to stay after just meeting her.

“Auntie has two empty rooms upstairs. I’ll take you to see them,” An Xiuwen said as she grabbed Jiang Luoluo and led her upstairs.

The moment the young girl was going upstairs, she sneakily turned her head and gave Chu Mingcheng a pleading look.

For a girl to rashly move into a man’s house was indeed not very appropriate.

Chu Mingcheng spoke up, “Mom, since Luoluo is a girl, it might not be appropriate for her to live in the same house as me.”

“Of course it’s not appropriate!” An Xiuwen nodded in agreement, “So you’ll come back to town with me tonight.”

Jiang Luoluo: “…”

Chu Mingcheng: “…”

He never expected his mother to have such a move up her sleeve.

If he went back to town and considering Jiang Luoluo didn’t know anyone here, staying at his house for the night seemed fine.

An Xiuwen took Jiang Luoluo upstairs to show her around and made a point to let her see the large bathtub.

The bathtub was designed for enjoyment; Chu Mingcheng’s house had a comfortable bathtub, even including a custom-designed table for placing items.

Sometimes An Xiuwen would come over, cut some fruit, and then sit in the tub with her laptop to watch shows while eating fruit.

The adjoining window could also be opened to view the nightscape, and because of the angle, there was no need to worry about being seen from the outside.

Initially reluctant, Jiang Luoluo hesitated the moment she saw the bathtub, and An Xiuwen immediately made the decision for her.

By now it was dinner time, and An Xiuwen didn’t bring up having Mr. Chu come over to cook. Instead, she took her leave to give the young couple some privacy and asked Chu Mingcheng to prepare a lavish dinner.

She had some confidence in her son’s cooking skills—this was a good opportunity to impress.

After An Xiuwen left, the two young people breathed a sigh of relief.

However, Chu Mingcheng wasn’t so insensitive as to suggest sending Jiang Luoluo to a hotel, instead, he took out the groceries from the car and started making dinner. @@novelbin@@

After dinner, Jiang Luoluo took the initiative to wash the dishes and tidy up the kitchen.

She worked efficiently, clearly not a pampered and lazy girl.

Once they finished cleaning up, they found themselves with nothing to do. Chu Mingcheng was considering whether he should head back to town to discuss buying a boat with his family when Jiang Luoluo brought up the subject of videos.

“By the way, Ah Cheng, you filmed some videos before, didn’t you?”

“Yeah, what about them?”

“Have you edited and dubbed them yet? If not, let me teach you tonight!”

“Sounds good, I’ll register an account as well.” Since Jiang Luoluo had offered her help, Chu Mingcheng didn’t rush back to town, so the two headed to the mezzanine.

Jiang Luoluo didn’t have any brothers, and this was her first time in a man’s room, so she looked around curiously.

Though Chu Mingcheng’s room was simply furnished, there was not much to see.

He turned on the computer and took out the head-mounted camera, transferring the videos of fishing under the pier at sea to the computer.

Jiang Luoluo pulled up a chair beside him, and a pleasant scent wafted from her, making Chu Mingcheng subconsciously sniff slightly.

But he quickly focused and registered an account on Bilibili.

“Now on Bilibili, you can categorize the video accounts so why not post videos of Xiao Mi eating fish and mice? You don’t have to post them all today; spreading them out over a few days is fine,” she said.

“Remember to save plenty of video material to maintain regular updates; it’s not easy to gain followers with inconsistent updates.”

“Plus, if you have other matters to handle, you can do so without worry.”

Chu Mingcheng naturally took Jiang Luoluo’s advice since she was more knowledgeable in this area.
