The fisheries officials left, but Chu Mingcheng’s mood for dinner had been thoroughly ruined.

“Do you need us to help?” Liu Jianjun asked.

Chu Mingcheng shook his head, “No need, it was just a bit upsetting, let’s continue with the meal.”

At that point, Li Bin suggested, “Ah Cheng, why don’t you get a free diving fishing license? With that, you can dive and fish without worry, and no one will bother you.”

“I was actually planning to do that. The boat is already ordered, it’s just that I haven’t had the chance yet because I’m moving to Xia City.”

“You’re moving to Xia City?” Liu Jianjun asked in surprise, then quickly realized, “That’s right, the coastal fish resources are too poor around here, it’s indeed better for you to develop your skills over there.”

“If you’re planning to get a free diving certification, I can introduce someone to you.”

“He’s a former comrade of mine who also loves free diving. After being discharged, he became a coach at a club in Qiongzhou.”

“In most places in the country, you can only get a one-star certificate, but you can get a two-star one there, and for the fishing license, you can apply after you have the two-star certification.”

Chu Mingcheng became quite interested when he heard from Liu Jianjun that his former comrade could help him get a two-star free diving certification.

He knew you could get a two-star certification in Qiongzhou, but since he wasn’t planning on developing his career there, he initially intended to just get a one-star in Xia City.

After all, he needed to get both a driver’s license and a free diving certificate, so his time was a bit tight.

But if he had Liu Jianjun’s recommendation, maybe he wouldn’t need to learn slowly at all; with his diving skills, he could take the test directly.

He figured he could get his two-star free diving certificate at an extremely fast pace, then go apply for the fishing license.

No one would choose the long route if there was a shortcut, so Chu Mingcheng immediately asked Liu Jianjun to make the connection for him, enabling him to quickly earn the two-star certificate.

This matter improved his mood quite a bit, and the atmosphere at dinner returned to how it was before.

The next day, Chu Mingcheng received a notification from the hospital; his medical report was ready.

Originally, he planned to get his driver’s license while at home, and after he had it, he would move to Xia City, where he could go out to sea to fish while applying for the free diving certificate.

Besides, going there would mean renting a house, and living expenses would certainly rise.

If he couldn’t go out to sea, it made more sense to earn some money at home first.

Even though He Zheng had stood him up and didn’t call him to go fishing for yellow croaker, he knew the area well and there were other good spots to go to.

But now, with Liu Jianjun’s help, his original plan was clearly disrupted.

Yesterday, Liu Jianjun had contacted his former comrade and explained the situation.

His comrade said that since Chu Mingcheng often dived in the sea, obtaining a two-star certificate would be easy, and he could even get a fishing license there, perhaps all within a week.

Since he could get the certificates in such a short time, he definitely chose to get them first.

With the fishing license, there was no need for him to come back; he could just apply for his driver’s license in Xia City and simultaneously earn money from fishing and hunting.

Chu Mingcheng first booked a flight to Qiongzhou online. It wasn’t a holiday season, so he didn’t need to rush, and he set his departure for the day after tomorrow.

Then he went to the hospital to get his medical report, and on his way, he paid a visit to Chen Yang’s shop.

But at half-past ten, the shop was still closed, prompting him to take out his mobile phone in disbelief.

“What time is it? Why haven’t you opened the shop yet?”

Chen Yang was a bit confused, thinking Chu Mingcheng needed him for something important, but instead, he was asking why the shop wasn’t open yet?

“What’s going on?”

“I came to get my medical report today and dropped by your shop on the way.”

“Oh oh oh, I’m on my way, I’ll be there in a moment.”

“Alright, then I’ll wait at the front of the shop.”

Since Chen Yang was driving, Chu Mingcheng didn’t press the matter any further.

After the call ended, it took just five or six minutes before he arrived.

Zhang Wei was the first to get out of the car from the passenger seat and greeted Chu Mingcheng with an enthusiastic slap on the back.

“Ah Cheng, stay for lunch.”

“Are you treating?”

“I’m treating, just say what you want to eat.”

“Roast whole sheep or a few tomahawk steaks?”

“Damn, you’re heartless!”

Chen Yang chuckled as he came over, “Alright, if Ah Wei is treating at noon, then I’ll treat tonight. I’ll take you out for sea, land, and air.”

“Sea, land, and air?” Chu Mingcheng became curious instantly. What was that?

Chen Yang smiled mysteriously, “You’ll know when the time comes.”

Eventually, because a rich dude was treating them to a big meal in the evening, Zhang Wei’s wallet was spared at noon and they ordered three bowls of wonton noodles to fill their stomachs.

“By the way, I have something to tell you guys. The day after tomorrow, I’m going to Qiongzhou to study free-diving fishing and hunting, and to get certified. Once I pass, I’ll head straight to Xia City. When you have time, come visit me in Xia City.”

Chen Yang was shocked, “So soon?”

Zhang Wei nodded, “Weren’t you going to get your driver’s license at home first?”

Chu Mingcheng explained, “There’s been a change. I’ve met a free-diving instructor. Going to Qiongzhou is to get certified with him; it’s faster. Once I have the certification, I can fish and hunt, so there’s no need to come back.”

Chen Yang patted his shoulder and said, “Alright, as long as you’ve decided, then go for it. When we come to visit, remember to get us some rare catches.”

“Ah Cheng, wait for me to make a name for myself, okay? When you do, take me with you.” Compared to staying at the shop every day, Zhang Wei actually preferred Chu Mingcheng’s profession.

However, Chen Yang had always taken good care of him, making it difficult for Zhang Wei to leave.

The words he said now left Chu Mingcheng and the others unsure whether he was joking or serious.

“Damn, what am I going to do if you also run off?” Chen Yang laughed and cursed.

Zhang Wei didn’t hesitate to retort, “Can’t you find yourself a girlfriend? Why are you always sticking to me?”

“…” Chen Yang suddenly found himself with no comeback to that remark.

After resting a bit in the shop and agreeing to have dinner together the day after tomorrow on Yanmen Island, Chu Mingcheng left first.

He planned to dive under the bridge piers to check out the fish situation and catch some good ones. He would bring one fish home tomorrow to talk to his parents about leaving.

The other he would save for the dinner with Chen Yang and Zhang Wei the day after tomorrow. Since they were parting ways, indulging in two lavish meals wasn’t too much.

Back on Yanmen Island, he put his gear in the trunk of his car and first headed to Zhao Jun’s house.

Zhao Jun would definitely go out to collect his nets in the afternoon, so Chu Mingcheng could hitch a ride on his boat to the bridge piers. It shouldn’t be too much trouble coming back either.

It was quite coincidental; as soon as Chu Mingcheng arrived at Zhao Jun’s home, he saw him opening the door to leave.

“Brother Zhao Jun!”

“Huh, Ah Cheng, you looking for me?”

“Yeah, I plan to dive and hunt fish near the bridge piers and wanted to hitch a convenient ride.”

“Sure, but you can dive?”

Zhao Jun was somewhat surprised; his young buddy had quite a few skills!

“Of course, I speared quite a few fish yesterday and sold them for a good amount at the dock.”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Jun suddenly remembered what other fishermen at the dock were talking about last night and realized, “So it was you who sold several thousand worth of fish yesterday!”

“That’s right, it was me!” Chu Mingcheng nodded in acknowledgment, “Let’s head to the dock now!”

“Let’s go!” @@novelbin@@

Zhao Jun needed to keep many of his catch chilled for selling later, so he drove a van to the dock, with plastic boxes and buckets for storing the fish in the back.

Both men arrived at the dock, and Chu Mingcheng carried his gear onto the boat before setting off.

His hunt today also had a purpose—to draw out the lean man from yesterday.
