Chapter 8: The Fox Boy Wants to Cohabit
Before college, I never needed to dorm. At home, I could shed my capybara disguise completely, freely embracing my inner "husky" personality without restraint.
But cohabitation risked exposure. Constant proximity made perfect concealment impossible.
Maintaining disguise even in my own dorm would drive me insane!
Thus, avoiding roommates remained the wisest choice.
My wooden-toned dorm featured not just front lawn grass, but a circular hot spring pool—such thoughtful design! We capybaras adore soaking. I could lounge submerged all day without moving. Especially when water streams cascade over our heads, flushing away worries like cleansing mental clutter.
Though human-raised, my capybara upbringing ingrained certain habits.
I stared at Xiao Fen in surprise: "How did you know my dorm location?"
His silken hair slid across smiling features as he murmured: "Our team handles freshman registrations. I knew you'd come today."
"Wow—"
He lowered his face, whispers trembling with vulnerability: "I've waited so long. Feared overwhelming you with eagerness... Never imagined our reunion would involve bloodshed."
His chuckle carried rueful resignation.
Neither had I anticipated such violent first encounters.
"Does that happen often?" I asked.
The question erased his smile. Vulpine brows furrowed as shadows clouded his gaze.
He sighed deeply, forcing a smile: "Have your school badge?"
Clear topic diversion. I produced the treasured emblem—a circular bronze with flowing mountain-sea patterns. No ordinary insignia, this spiritual artifact fused mystical alloys with modern AI systems. Over 100 functions: digital access, navigation, networking. Since my phone got confiscated, this badge could connect me to Yu Tu.
Now it became my dorm key.
"Activate it," Yu Tu gently prompted.
"Activate!" I commanded. The badge levitated, glowing as it "split" into holographic beast-eared woman: "Identity confirmed. Freshman Xi Yao registered."
Single command completed entire enrollment.
"Greetings, Xi Yao. I'm your Donghuang University AI assistant. Customize my name and form. I'll accompany your campus journey until employment~"
"Please unlock my room," I suppressed excitement.
"Door access granted."
Click. Entrance unveiled.
I restrained husky-like sprinting urges, adopting capybara zen to enter calmly.
Spotless studio layout greeted me. Smart dining system adorned living area—meals could materialize via transmission disc! Donghuang's extravagance stunned. Perfect for reclusive demons avoiding public spaces.
The sunken bedroom featured nest-style bedding popular among demons—egg-shaped enclosure providing security. Southern wall boasted spherical one-way glass with defensiveç»ç arrays. Scattered aerial cabins dotted the view, demons soaring between them.
"Xi Yao, cohabitation request received," the AI suddenly announced.
I froze. "Who?"
"Student Yu Tu."
Turning, I found the pink-haired boy standing rigidly sideways in my room, lips compressed, hand jammed in pocket.
"Xiao Fen, why message when you're here?"
He turned fully, golden eyes piercing: "Will you agree?"
Suddenly he closed the distance, palm thudding against glass behind me. Pink strands brushed my cheek as his warmth encroached. "I want to sleep together like childhood days!"
My soul stiffened.
Only in demon realm could such propositions sound normal. Trusted demons revert to communal habits.
Maintaining capybara serenity, I smiled placidly: "We've grown. It's... inappropriate now..."
He leaned closer, breath ghosting my ear: "Xi Yao... I know your secret..."
Every neural fiber tensed. What secret did he uncover?
What do you think?
