Ascension of The Unholy Immortal

Chapter 401: Arrogant Fool ?

Despite seeing his opponent barely standing, the Frostfall God didn't move an inch. He was in no hurry to act.

His focus lay elsewhere—comprehending the laws of this nascent universe. The more he understood, the swifter his control over it would grow. And the longer Liang's nascent divinity remained here, the easier it would be to claim.

Besides, he knew that no matter what he did, it wouldn't be fatal to Liang. This universe was merely connected to Liang's essence and nascent divinity. At the last moment, Liang could sever that link, draining the life from it. Such an act would destroy his cultivation entirely, but it was his only option.

That was why the Frostfall God waited in silence, steadily deepening his comprehension – making use of each second.

"Impressive."

Suddenly, Liang's expression turned eerily calm. He raised his head and met the Frostfall God's gaze with indifference.

"Trying to steal my cultivation, are you?"

The Frostfall God's eyes flickered with amusement. "So what?"

"Hah. You're awfully brazen for just a soul fragment." Liang's lips curved into a cold smile.

A ripple of unease passed through the Frostfall God.

Liang took slow, deliberate steps forward. "Before I moved the orchid into my universe, I ran through every possible scenario. Your appearance was unexpected… but not unanticipated in it's danger level."

"You foresaw this, yet you still acted?" The Frostfall God suddenly understood and burst into laughter. "Arrogant fool! Did you truly believe you could overpower a god?"

Liang halted just a few meters from the orchid. "I did. At most, you'd be nothing more than a soul fragment. I never imagined you'd pose any real threat."

The Frostfall God's expression darkened as he reassessed Liang. The man's tone carried no hint of deception.

"It seems this small cultivator has finally understood."

Indeed, in his current state, he poses no real threat to Liang.

"Then let's make a deal," the god proposed.

"A deal?" Liang's eyes glinted with surprise.

The Frostfall God nodded solemnly. "Swear to aid me in gathering the materials to forge a new body, and I will leave your nascent universe."

"I see… You want my help to reincarnate." Liang's amusement deepened.

"Reincarnate?" The god chuckled. "An overstatement. I merely need a vessel. In return, I'll guide you. Where else would you find a mentor like me?"

"A win-win situation, then." Liang smiled faintly.

"Exactly." The god grinned, his eyes gleaming with amusement. He had never held high expectations—gaining Liang's cooperation was more than enough.

Liang lowered his head, feigning contemplation. Then, a strange smile twisted his lips.

"That might have worked… if you hadn't overlooked one thing."

"And what is that?" The Frostfall God raised an eyebrow, perplexed.

"This."

With a flick of his hand, Liang summoned a pitch-black mirror from the depths of space. It hovered between them, its obsidian frame etched with shifting runes that pulsed like dying embers.

"A sealed treasure mirror?" The Frostfall God frowned, unimpressed.

"Sealed?" Liang smirked and pushed his palm forward. "Not anymore."

The runic chains shattered, one after another, vanishing in the blink of an eye. As the last seal dissolved, the mirror's surface trembled violently, emitting an eerie, blinding light.

Then—it turned utterly black.

The mirror shot toward the orchid.

The Frostfall God's eyes narrowed. "This… could it be—?"

Realization struck like lightning. Dread contorted his face as he tried to retreat—

But he couldn't move.

A monstrous suction force erupted from the mirror's abyssal surface, pulling him inexorably toward oblivion.

"You dare—!"

The Frostfall God let out a thunderous roar shaking the very threads of space within the nascent universe.

But it was too late.

The black mirror surged forward, locking onto the orchid. In an instant, the orchid's radiant glow dimmed, its pulsing rhythm faltering as if its very soul recognized the horror awaiting it. The suction from the mirror grew in intensity, not a mere physical force, but one that seemed to target the very essence of things—souls, laws, karma, time.

The orchid twisted and writhed, its petals folding inward in agony. Tendrils of light—the soul fragments of the Frostfall God—began to peel away from it, drawn irresistibly into the void-like surface of the mirror. The god screamed, a sound that fractured the heavens within Liang's universe.

"No! This mirror—it also can devours divinity ! Where did you get such a thing?!"

When a being ascends to the mystical step, they forge a divine soul—an evolution beyond nascent divinity. So long as even a fragment of this soul endures, true death remains beyond reach.

Liang observed the Frostfall God's struggle with detached calm. The mirror's abyssal pull had reduced the once-mighty deity to a flickering specter, his form unraveling like mist before dawn.

"You dare?!" The god's voice thundered, though its power waned with each passing moment. "Destroy this fragment if you will—countless others remain scattered across existence! Do you truly believe this changes anything?"

Liang's smile deepened, serene as a frozen lake. "Oh, I harbor no illusions of ending you completely." His fingers traced an idle pattern in the air. "But tell me... how many eons did it take you to cultivate even this shred of power?"

The Frostfall God's essence stilled. In that suspended instant, he understood—this wasn't merely a battle of strength, but of time itself.

"Y-you planned this from the start," Frostfall God suddenly came to a realisation" You knew I wouldn't be able to resist the bait, it was a trap!"

"Not exactly. I didn't expect reviving a god," Liang said, snorting coldly.

A faint, almost mocking smile tugged at his lips. "But from the moment you stepped into my universe, everything although hasn't unfolded according to my design. But it's your arrogance... your greed... They sealed your fate. You wanted to steal my cultivation, to forge a new body for yourself—but instead, you'll become fuel for something far greater."

Liang's fingers twitched in a grasping motion—and the void itself answered.

A colossal ethereal hand materialized above them, its translucent fingers spanning the heavens like five divine pillars. As it descended, the very fabric of space hummed in resonance with its power. When those celestial fingers closed around the orchid, the Frostfall God's soul fragment shuddered violently, its divine light flaring in desperate resistance.

But in this universe, Liang's will was law.

"You—!" The god's voice cracked with outrage. "To steal divinity from a god is to invite eternal damnation!"
