Ascension of The Unholy Immortal

Chapter 90: Obsidian Source

A figure soon appeared outside a desolate valley at the base of the magnificent Iron Mountain. It was Ji Fang, An ugly expression marred his face, betraying his inner turmoil and dissatisfaction.

With a simple flick of his hand, a door materialized in the heart of the desolate and barren valley.

Sighing heavily, weariness etched into every line of his face, Ji Fang stepped over the threshold and found himself transported once again into the secret realm.

Without wasting a moment, Ji Fang settled onto the ground, crossing his legs and closing his eyes. He entered a deep state of meditation, allowing his consciousness to dive into the depths of his soul.

After what felt like an eternity, Ji Fang released a long exhale, causing dark green vapors to emanate from every pore of his body. The vapors swirled around him, carrying an aura of hatred and regret.

As the dark green gases dissipated into the air, Ji Fang's eyes fluttered open, revealing a mix of relief and realization."Who would have thought there were still fragments of Han Zhi's consciousness lingering within me? Luckily, it awakened upon seeing Liang Yifei, or else I wouldn't have discovered it."

Feeling Liang Yifei's presence, fragments of Han Zhi's consciousness took hold of Ji Fang's emotions repeatedly. He was certain that if he had stayed any longer beside Liang Yifei, he would have attacked him.

After clearing his thoughts, Ji Fang expelled a golden sphere from his mouth with precision and control. The sphere glistened with a brilliant golden light, seemingly pulsating with an otherworldly power.

Upon catching sight of the golden sphere, he couldn't help but chuckle. This was the true reason he joined the Mortal Ascension Legion.

The golden sphere, known as the obsidian source, provided the Enlightenment stages in the Enlightenment Hall with their unique properties.

These small golden spheres possessed a mystical ability when used as a formation source—they could establish a connection between the formation and the laws of heaven and earth.

That was why the spheres were used to construct the Enlightenment stages, enhancing cultivators' connections with the laws and further improving their comprehension.

However, that was only what most people knew. If that were the only ability, Ji Fang wouldn't have gone through such hardships to obtain it.

The obsidian source possessed a hidden ability that the majority were unaware of—it could store the power of law, whether it be the law of Dao or the law of Origin.

Laws, the fundamental embodiment of the power of heaven and earth, were the governing forces of all things in the infinite domains at least that is what Ji Fang knows.

Ji Fang smirked knowingly as he toyed with the obsidian source between his fingers, fully aware of its untapped potential "It will be some time before the Lord of the Enlightenment Hall discovers the disappearance of this obsidian source. But by then, it may no longer matter. Moreover, I am almost certain that the Legion may already harbor suspicions about me." His voice carried a hint of amusement and a trace of caution.

"Heh, they only need me to fulfill the requirements of the Starry Sky Alliance. I wouldn't be surprised if they attempted to dispose of me once we arrived at the devil realm," he said, shaking his head with a hint of sarcasm.

Suddenly, his expression changed and he directed his gaze outside the secret realm. After scanning the area for a while, confusion flashed through his eyes.

"Weird, I'm certain I felt a presence outside the valley just now. But it disappeared immediately, almost as if it didn't exist."

"Who might that be? The Mortal Ascension Legion? No, it's unlikely to be them. If they wanted to make a move on me, they would have done it in the paradise city. They still need me," he pondered aloud.

Suddenly, a thought flashed in his mind, and his lips curved into a sly smile. "It's most likely that brat Liang Yifei. He is probably very suspicious of me, but I have to admit, his method of hiding isn't bad," he chuckled.

Looking at the shadow beside him, Liang Yifei's eyes flashed thoughtfully. "A secret realm at the base of the Iron Mountain? Interesting," he exclaimed before his figure disappeared into the void.

Outside a cave near the Arcane City, the very fabric of space began to warp and bend, giving birth to a swirling distortion from which Liang's figure, materialized.

Liang took a moment to observe his surroundings, his eyes scanning the rocky terrain and the scattered vegetation clinging to life in the unforgiving conditions. The landscape seemed exactly as he left it.

With a subtle smile, he extended his void sense to encompass the entire region, his senses reaching out for anything amiss. Finding nothing suspicious, he allowed his void sense to stretch further, this time directed towards the mysterious cave.

As the aura emanating from within the cave touched his consciousness, a wider smile graced his lips, Without any further delay he confidently took a step forward, entering the cave without hesitation.

Soon His gaze fell upon a familiar figure sitting cross-legged in the depths of the cave - It was none other than Yang Wu.

Sensing Liang's presence, Yang Wu opened his eyes and chuckled, "I thought you had left me and went to the devil realm."

Liang shook his head, his expression serious. "I was considering it, but I decided to see if you had succeeded first. And indeed, you have." He opened his hand, revealing a jade slip. "This contains all the information you need for when you arrive in the devil realm," he said, tossing the jade slip to Yang Wu.

Yang Wu's eyes widened in surprise as he caught the slip. "When do we leave?" he asked, stowing the jade slip in his space ring.

Liang shook his head. "There has been a change of plans. You will go without me."

Although caught off guard, Yang Wu nodded, his mind racing with the sudden turn of events. "When do I leave then?"

Liang's smile held an air of mystery "Now. You leave now."

Surprise flashed in Yang Wu's eyes, comprehension slowly dawning upon him. "But according to your previous estimation, there is still about a year before the devil realm aligns with our world."

Liang chuckled softly, the sound echoing in the cavern. "You don't need to worry about that. I will open the portal for you. Once you arrive, our people will be there waiting. The jade slip you have also contains instructions for them. After fully memorizing it, you give it to them."

With a flicker of gray light in his eyes, the atmosphere within the cave seemed to intensify. The air crackled with an electric current as the space around them began to distort and converge.

In no time, a two-meter-sized hole appeared. "Now, go."

With a final nod, Yang Wu stepped towards the portal, his body disappearing into the gray light. The hole closed behind him, leaving Liang alone in the cavern.

A bittersweet smile played on Liang's lips as he peered at the spot where Yang Wu had vanished. The air in the cave seemed to be still as if holding its breath in anticipation of what was to come. A mix of excitement and apprehension coursed through Liang's veins as he contemplated his next steps.

"Huh, now everything is almost set," he murmured to himself, the words echoing through the cavern.
