Chapter 121 121: The Pinnacle
Won?
DarkSaber was struck by an overwhelming sense of disbelief. His final price limit had been set at 350 million, but before he could even reach that, Drake had thrown in the towel after just 270 million. This didn't make any sense.
His face blank, DarkSaber couldn't immediately process it. He finally stammered, "Drake, what's your game here?"
Drake, looking puzzled, replied, "I'm a little short on cash. I can't outbid you, so I chose to drop out. What's the problem? You could always lend me some, and I'll raise my offer again."
DarkSaber snapped, "Don't even think about it!"
Drake, feigning regret, sighed, "See? I offer to borrow money, and you won't have it. I say I'm out, and you don't believe me. You're tough to deal with, man."
As the two were about to start bickering again, Tristan stepped in decisively, "270 million once, 270 million twice. Anyone willing to go higher?"
He scanned the room with a hopeful expression.
DarkSaber hurriedly urged, "Just announce the result, no need to ask."
By now, he had no doubts left—Drake had really given up the auction. The price of 270 million was high, but it was well within his means. Plus, he had already arranged for his guild members to hype up the event on the forums. It would be a huge promotional opportunity.
DarkSaber was already imagining the headlines:
"Spending a fortune to claim the Guild Token—The first guild of ExoGenesis goes to this man!"
"Who's the person who made Drake bow down? Find out!"
"ExoGenesis' first guild is here, are you ready to face them?"
With those ideas in mind, DarkSaber felt great satisfaction. It was money well spent.
"270 million, third and final call! Congratulations to Shadow Legion for winning the Guild Token!" Tristan said with finality.
Then he looked at ShieldBreaker, "Send your virtual card number to DarkSaber. Once the transfer is complete, let us know. With so many guild leaders here, I'm sure DarkSaber will honor his commitment."
DarkSaber scoffed, "Honor my commitment? Are you questioning my integrity?"
Tristan thought for a moment, then replied, "Not at all. It's just that I went to great lengths to bring everyone here, and we should ensure things are done right, don't you think?"
Before DarkSaber could respond, Drake chimed in mockingly, "Blackshade's got a point, One Knife. Hurry up and transfer the money. Everyone's waiting for the equipment auction to start."
This auction, aside from the Guild Token, had also attracted attention due to the rare equipment Tristan had. Now that the Guild Token auction was over, the guild leaders could focus on the next big item.
DarkSaber, eager to close the deal and avoid any future complications, quickly asked ShieldBreaker for his card number.
Moments later, ShieldBreaker called out in surprise, "It's here! The transfer has gone through! It's 270 million!"
His voice trembled as he spoke. Seeing that many zeros made his head spin. He had counted several times to confirm it.
But even now, he couldn't shake the feeling that it was all too surreal. He had only intended to dabble in this groundbreaking virtual game, but now... he was a billionaire.
DarkSaber impatiently urged, "Did you get it? Transfer the Guild Token now! There are so many people here, don't play games."
ShieldBreaker calmed himself and ignored DarkSaber's tone. After all, anyone who had spent so much money would be anxious to wrap things up.
ShieldBreaker initiated the trade, placing the Guild Token on the table. He then added, "DarkSaber, just so you know, I recorded the entire transaction, don't try to pull any fast ones later."
DarkSaber rolled his eyes, "Do I look like I need to deceive you?"
As the trade completed, DarkSaber finally received the Guild Token. His confidence soared. With the token in hand, he immediately turned to his archrival, Drake, and shot back, "Drake, I'll take that as a win."
Drake smirked, though his expression was tight. "A win."
Seeing his enemy's defeat was immensely satisfying for DarkSaber. He even felt embarrassed for his earlier hesitation. What had he been thinking, giving up just because Drake might raise the bid again? No way! He had to go all the way.
Other guild leaders stepped forward to congratulate him, and then asked the crucial question—how was the Guild Token going to be used?
DarkSaber, already prepared, explained confidently, "You see, to form a guild, it's not just about having the Guild Token. You also need to register at the main city's office before the guild can officially be created."
Everyone nodded in realization. They hadn't known about the extra step. Setting up a guild in this game was more complicated than they thought.
But soon enough, the first guild of ExoGenesis would be founded. They would get to witness history in the making, so it wasn't a wasted trip after all.
DarkSaber raised his hand to the others. "I'll leave now, and I wish you all the best in the equipment auctions."
Feeling elated, DarkSaber was on cloud nine. Nothing could ruin his mood right now.
He turned to leave the shop, eager to go register his guild.
However, Tristan wasn't going to let him off that easily. Standing on the stage, he addressed the crowd, "Next up, we have the equipment auction, which will be conducted by a professional auctioneer. Please stay tuned."
He shot Sophie a look, signaling her to take over.
Sophie gracefully stepped forward. Her beauty and poised figure immediately caught the attention of all the players. She was far more pleasing to the eye than Blackshade.
Before entering the auction, Sophie had already received the equipment from Tristan. She displayed a Silver Grade Armor-Breaking Greatsword, explaining, "This is a two-handed sword. While it's only level 10 equipment, its attributes are outstanding. For melee warriors, it could double their combat power."@@novelbin@@
"The starting price is 100,000. Please place your bids."
As soon as she finished speaking, the bids started flooding in.
"100,000!"
"110,000!"
"120,000!"
The bidding intensified.
For Tristan, Silver Grade equipment wasn't much of a draw, but not everyone was like him. Many top-tier players struggled with Silver Grade BOSSes, and they would love to get their hands on this sword.
As the auction heated up, Tristan quietly exited the shop. He had one more surprise in store for DarkSaber.
At the Davi City registration office, a player approached the counter and presented the Guild Token.
The NPC took the Guild Token and checked it. "Please confirm your guild name."
The player paused for a moment, then slowly said, "Pinnacle."
"Got it. Your guild is being registered now."
The NPC proceeded with the paperwork.
The player received a notification: Continue reading on My Virtual Library Empire
"Congratulations! You have successfully created the guild 'Pinnacle'!"
"This is the first guild ever created in the server. A server-wide announcement will be made shortly. Would you like to hide your name?"
"No."
