Chapter 167: Father and son
Chapter 167: Father and son
"Can you really do it? You're not lying to me, are you?" Standing in front of his son's room, Huo Rulie asked Yun Wuji the same question for what felt like the hundredth time.
Even though the young man in front of him repeatedly confirmed he could heal his son, Huo Rulie couldn't bring himself to believe it. No one could truly understand the sweat, pain, and effort he had poured into searching for the best doctors across the entire God Realm over the past thousand years. He scoured the entire Eastern Divine Region, ventured to the Southern Divine Region, and even traveled to the distant Western Divine Region.
If not for the Northern Divine Region's reputation for being weak and impoverished, he would have disregarded everything and searched there too.
Yun Wuji glanced at him. Earlier, this man had been so dignified and domineering, but the moment he heard there was a chance to heal his son, his attitude changed instantly.
Despite Yun Wuji being nothing more than an unknown Divine Soul Realm cultivator, Huo Rulie chose to cling to this slim chance and place his trust in him.
"Whether I can heal your son or not is not your concern. What you need to do is fulfill my demands," Yun Wuji said calmly before pushing the door open and stepping into the room.
Huo Rulie followed closely behind, nodding repeatedly. "Yes, yes, yes! As long as Little Brother Yun can heal my son, no matter what your demands are, I will fulfill them. Even if you ask me to die, this Huo will do so without hesitation."
Inside the room, the scent of medicinal herbs immediately assaulted Yun Wuji's senses. His gaze fell upon a man lying motionless on a wooden bed, his eyes closed and his face a sickly shade of pale. Yun Wuji's attention, however, didn't linger on the man for long. Instead, he focused on the bed itself, which was intricately covered with numerous profound formations. These formations are what have been sustaining this man's health.
Yun Wuji turned around, his expression stern, and said with a frown, "Who told you to come in? Wait outside. I'll call you when I'm done." He was about to use the Light Profound Energy to heal the man, and although Huo Rulie's character had been portrayed as trustworthy in the novel, Yun Wuji wasn't willing to take the risk of exposing his ability to use Light Profound Energy to anyone.@@novelbin@@
"This..." Huo Rulie was stunned. His eyes darted anxiously between his son and Yun Wuji, and he hesitated, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
"Are you afraid I'll harm your son? Even if you were here, if I truly wanted to harm him in secret, would you even realize it?" Yun Wuji raised an eyebrow and asked.
He was a doctor, after all. He had countless ways to harm a patient in secret, even under the watchful eyes of a Divine Master.
"...Alright, Little Brother Yun. If you need anything, call for me. I'll wait outside." Huo Rulie wanted to say more, but in the end, he let out a long breath and reluctantly walked out of the
room.
After Huo Rulie left, Yun Wuji first set up an isolation barrier around the room. Once the space was secure, he walked over to the bed. Raising his hand, a pure, radiant white light emanated from his palm, gently cascading over the sleeping man and enveloping his entire body in its glow.
...
"Why is he taking so long?" Huo Rulie muttered to himself, pacing anxiously outside the room. Although less than ten minutes had passed since Yun Wuji entered, it felt like an eternity to him.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Yun Wuji stepped out. Before he could even speak, Huo Rulie was already in front of him, gripping his shoulders tightly. His voice trembled with anxiety and impatience as he asked, "How was it?! How is my son?!"
"Father..." Before Huo Rulie could hear Yun Wuji's response, a faint, weak voice called out from the room. The sound caused Huo Rulie's body to freeze completely. His frame trembled violently, and a single tear rolled down his cheek. It was the voice he had longed to hear for more than a thousand years!
His son... his son had finally woken up!
"Ye'er!" Huo Rulie released Yun Wuji and rushed into the room.
Yun Wuji didn't follow. Instead, he closed the door quietly and waited outside, he didn't want to intrude on the long-awaited reunion between father and son.
Truthfully, though Huo Rulie's son, Huo Ye, had endured a tragic life, he was still incredibly fortunate to have a father like Huo Rulie.
...
"Little Brother-no, Benefactor Yun, please accept this bow from this old man," Huo Rulie said after a long while, pulling Yun Wuji back into the room. Both he and his son bowed deeply, their gratitude overflowing.
Not only had Yun Wuji completely healed his son, but he had also restored his cultivation to its former state. This was nothing short of a miracle...an unbelievable, earth-shattering miracle in the world of the profound!
If Huo Rulie hadn't witnessed it with his own eyes, he would never have believed it, even if someone had beaten him to death!
In the novel, Yun Che didn't have the Light Profound Energy and only used the Great Way of the Buddha to heal Huo Ye. While he succeeded in restoring his health, he couldn't preserve Huo Ye's cultivation.
Huo Ye's complexion was still slightly pale, but he could now move and speak like any normal person. He rose from the bed and kneeled before Yun Wuji, his voice filled with sincerity. "Senior Yun, your grace has given me a new life. I am eternally grateful!"
"There's no need for this. I only helped you because of the deal I made with your father," Yun Wuji said calmly as he helped both father and son to their feet.
Though the bond between this father and son was touching, Yun Wuji had come to help them for his own purposes. Their gratitude, while genuine, was not something he needed.
"Right! Benefactor, please tell me your demands. This Huo will do everything in his power to fulfill them," Huo Rulie said immediately, standing up and patting his chest with determination.
"I only have two small demands," Yun Wuji said, holding up two fingers. "First, I want all of your profound jades, crystals, and cores."
He added in a serious tone, "Second, I want you and your son to go to the Snow Song Realm, kneel before Mu Bingyun and Mu Xuanyin, and beg for their forgiveness."
"In the past thousand years, it wasn't just you and your son who suffered. Both sisters endured just as much, if not more."
"It's undeniable that your son was the one at fault in the beginning. But you, Huo Rulie, went ahead and shamelessly ambushed Mu Bingyun, condemning her to a thousand years of
suffering."
"Honestly, if I were in Mu Xuanyin's place, I would've massacred the entire Flame God Realm
in my fury."
"In fact, I can confidently say that the day Mu Bingyun dies would be the day the Flame God Realm ceases to exist."
"..." Mu Xuanyin, who had been secretly observing him, gazed at Yun Wuji with a complex expression in her eyes.
Chi Wuyao's chuckle echoed in her mind, her sultry, bone-melting voice dripping with amusement. "Hmm~ It seems this boy knows you far too well. Ahn~ Kids these days are truly
terrifying~"
"..." Mu Xuanyin.
Both father and son exchanged a glance. After a moment, Huo Rulie lowered his head, his
voice filled with guilt and solemnity. "I was blinded by hatred and harmed that young girl, Bingyun. I will go at once to apologize for my actions, and even if she demands my life in
return, I won't hesitate."
"Father, this is my fault as well. I will go with you to apologize to Fairy Bingyun and Realm King Mu Xuanyin," Huo Ye said solemnly, gripping his father's arm with determination. Yun Wuji smiled faintly as he listened to them. Just as he had expected, this father and son were men of great pride and integrity, and they would always honor their word.
"Ye'er!" Huo Rulie called out, his eyes red with emotion.
"Father!" Huo Ye grasped his father's arm and cried out emotionally.
"You can save those words for the sisters. Can you just hurry up and give me my things?" Yun Wuji interrupted rudely, seeing that father and son were about to dive into another round of emotional exchanges.
