Awakening: Reincarnating With the SSS-Level Extraction Talent

Chapter 300 Astolf VS Lorien, Alex VS Varyn

[Astolf, The Undead King VS Lorien, Chosen One of the Abyss]

Darkness loomed over the battlefield, thick and suffocating, an abyss swallowing everything in its path.

Alex stood motionless, his golden eyes tracing the outlines of the two warriors before him.

The air crackled with tension as Astolf, the Undead King, and Lorien, the Chosen One of the Abyss, faced off, their weapons already drawn.

But before the battle could truly begin, Varyn, the God of the Abyss, shifted his gaze toward Alex.

His presence alone was enough to make the shadows twist unnaturally.

"My Chosen One won't lose to that weakling, especially here." Varyn grinned, his voice deep and resonating, filling every inch of the darkness. "And once I kill you, this fight will be over."

His confidence was absolute.

He was in his domain.

He held the advantage.

Varyn took a slow step forward, extending his arm. S

hadows coiled around his fingers, forming into a weapon, a scythe.

Alex's eyes narrowed.

Of course. It made sense.

A Chosen One inherited the power of their god, so Lorien's scythe had likely been gifted by Varyn himself.

But something was off.

That weapon wasn't the [Abyss Scythe].

No, it was something far worse.

[The Scythe of the Damned]

[Uses the power of the abyss and all the souls trapped within as fuel. Enhances range and attack power significantly while inside the Abyss.]

The moment that weapon manifested, a heavy weight settled onto Alex's shoulders.

The atmosphere shifted.

[You have received the "Forsaken by Light" Debuff.]

[Effect: The longer you stay in this arena, the more your mind will be clouded, eventually turning you into one of them.]

Alex clenched his fists.

'Shit.'

It was happening again.

He was on a timer, just like before.

If he didn't win quickly, he would lose himself entirely.

His very thoughts would be swallowed by the abyss, and in the end, he'd become nothing more than a mindless puppet under Varyn's control.

He wasn't sure if Astolf had been given the same debuff, but it didn't matter.

The goal was clear: Kill either Lorien or Varyn.

That was all it took to win.

Why? Because the bond between a god and their Chosen One was both their greatest strength and their greatest weakness.

As Kaelios had informed Alex, there was a massive risk in granting someone divine power.

If Varyn died, Lorien would instantly perish, his very existence tied to the god's will.

If Lorien died, Varyn would lose half his strength for two weeks, a death sentence even in his own domain.

The fight was about to begin.

[FateBreaker, Chosen One of Destiny VS Varyn, God of the Abyss]

Varyn wasted no time.

In an instant, he moved.

A single step forward, then two slashes.

His [Scythe of the Damned] tore through the darkness, sending out two massive crescents of cursed energy.

Souls, hundreds of them, wailed within the attack as it hurtled toward Alex at a terrifying speed.

Alex's instincts flared.

He ducked at the last second, avoiding them both.

The attack carved through the air behind him, the weight of death brushing past his skin.

He could already tell, this wasn't just mana.

It was something else entirely, much more raw and terrifying than simple magic that any mage could do.

In fact, only a handful of Grand Mages could fight a god, and the massive majority would simply die, since they would be powerless.

Even they had limits.

His golden [Destiny Vision] flickered, but the outlines of Varyn's attacks weren't forming fast enough.

That meant one thing.

'I can't only rely on this vision.'

He would have to trust his instincts if he wanted to survive.

But something else caught his attention.

The way Varyn moved, the way he controlled his power, it was structured.

'Just like me...'

He has his own power system.

Just like Kaelios' [Destiny Points], Varyn had some kind of resource he was managing.

If Alex could figure it out, he could exploit it.

Varyn's laughter echoed through the abyss, "I can read your mind, you know?"

Alex froze for a moment.

"What?"

Varyn's grin widened, "You're trying to figure out my power system? Fine, I'll tell you."

His aura swelled.

The abyss itself trembled as thousands of souls screamed in unison.

"I don't have a limit," Varyn declared, "My power system is the souls of those I've cursed to this abyss. And in here… I have MILLIONS!"

A monstrous pressure filled the battlefield.

The sheer weight of the abyss pressed down on Alex, making it hard to even breathe.

"I don't see any reason to hold back, you are strong."

Then, Varyn's body began to change.

Shadows twisted, bones cracked, and limbs grew.

His form expanded, warping into something inhuman.

Alex's [Destiny Vision] struggled to keep up, but the golden outlines finally traced the shape of a massive creature.

A hulking monstrosity, five meters tall, even taller than Astolf.

Four arms, two of them wielding scythes, the other two crackling with dark energy.

A gaping mouth replaced where his head should have been.

Eyes, hundreds of them, scattered across his torso.

The air itself distorted around him.

This was his true form.

[The Abyss Controller]

Alex tensed. This wasn't good.

"Why the hell would you transform already?" he asked, stepping back. "Aren't you supposed to gradually power up?"

Varyn's voice rumbled from within the grotesque form.@@novelbin@@

"Nah. I prefer to start at full power and kick your ass immediately."

Ding!

[Forsaken by Light has been enhanced. Since you have witnessed the God of the Abyss' true form, escape is now impossible.]

Alex's gaze snapped to the side.

Astolf and Lorien were still locked in battle.

The Undead King had summoned extra skeletal arms, each wielding a different weapon, using them to clash with Lorien's rapid attacks.

Neither of them even looked at Alex or Varyn.

Alex turned back, and nearly had a heart attack.

Varyn was right in front of him.

His massive, grotesque form loomed over Alex, inches away from his face.

Alex's entire body froze in pure, unfiltered terror.

For the first time in a long while, he felt fear.

Then, before he could react—

Abyss Tendrils!

Black, writhing tendrils lashed out, grabbing Alex by the leg.

"Got you." Varyn's voice was a deep growl, vibrating through Alex's chest.

SLAM!

Varyn lifted Alex and smashed him into the ground.

Then again.

And again.

And again.

"ARGH, WHAT THE FUCK?!" Alex roared, pain shooting through every nerve in his body.

Each impact shattered the ground beneath him.

His bones cracked.

His vision blurred.

The worst part wasn't even the pain.

It was the [Forsaken by Light] debuff.

The more he suffered, the faster it progressed.

He couldn't let this continue.

Reaching for the tendrils, Alex activated [Dragon Bleeding Claws], ready to slice them apart.

But before he could...

Dark Pulse!

A surge of abyssal energy flooded through the tendrils, straight into Alex's body.

The moment it hit, he died.

His body disintegrated, unable to withstand the corruption.

Varyn let out a victorious laugh, tossing what was left of Alex aside like garbage.

"Pathetic."

He turned toward Astolf and Lorien, ready to end them next.

But just as he took a step forward, something changed.

The air crackled.

The flow of fate shuddered.

Then...

[DESTINY SHIFT.]
