Chapter 490: 186, Chen Shanhe has been captured!_1

After all, it was the King of Japan visiting, and Huafu International Airport used the highest standards of reception.

Besides the motorcade, there were also some senior national officials waiting at the cabin door.

However, unlike previous visits, there were no reporters present this time; the surroundings were entirely staffed by American security personnel.

Once the plane had settled, under everyone’s gaze, the aircraft cabin door slowly opened, and the Japanese security personnel and service crew all disembarked.

All of these security officers were well-trained personal guards of Chen Shanhe, each possessing formidable combat skills. They immediately took up positions at all potentially dangerous spots as they got off the plane.

With their protection, even if there were assassins lurking about, they could rush forward to take bullets and deploy effective defenses at top speed.

Only after all the security was in place did Ichiro Toyota, upon receiving the safety signal inside the cabin, rise unhurriedly and gracefully descended from the aircraft.

Chen Shanhe followed behind, about three paces back.

Although he was the actual power behind Japan, the fact was that Ichiro Toyota was the King, so in public events, protocol demanded Ichiro Toyota take precedence.

Chen Shanhe walked slowly, his gaze vigilantly scanning the airport officials who had come to greet them, as well as those American security personnel.

He trusted his instincts and possessed keen observational skills.

While these soldiers and officials might not be privy to many secrets, he could gauge the success of the visit by the presence or absence of hostile intent in them.

That said,

back when Lin Mo was live-streaming in Northern Sea City, Chen Shanhe, although aware that big trouble was afoot, did not feel particularly anxious.

Because he had made adequate preparations, he could calmly face the worst outcomes and even in such an event, had contingency plans in place.

Subsequent events proved his judgment correct.

But this visit to America was different; Chen Shanhe felt tense, yet his lifelong sharpened senses seemed to have vanished.

Take the present moment, for instance,

he vaguely sensed a killing intent from the American officials nearby, but felt that the aura was not strong—mere residue from years in politics or the military.

As for what came next, Chen Shanhe had no inkling.

Now, all he could do was pray in his heart that the Duke had no ill will toward him, and that Lin Mo was not behind these events, causing trouble.

Of course, his main reliance was on his subordinates, who were engaged in various missions.

If even one or two of those four squads could complete their tasks, then Chen Shanhe was confident he could leave America alive.

“King Toyota, welcome to America,”

a neatly-suited American official around 50 years old approached, extending his hand in introduction, “I am Townsend from the Foreign Affairs Office of America, ordered by the Duke to await your esteemed arrival.”

Although the man was only a high-ranking American official, Ichiro Toyota dared not show any disrespect, extending his hand with a polite smile, “Mr. Townsend, you’ve gone to a lot of trouble!”

It was well-known that MacArthur was the Retired Emperor of Japan, and the man was only America’s sixth-ranking individual.

In terms of administrative rank, he was on par with this chubby American official, so Ichiro Toyota was careful not to show any slack.

“King Toyota, the motorcade is ready, and the Duke is already awaiting you at Johnson Tower!”

Townsend walked alongside the motorcade, proactively opening the car door, “Let’s go, I shall take you to meet His Grace, the Duke.”

Johnson Tower?

Upon hearing the name, Chen Shanhe furrowed his brows and asked cautiously, “Mr. Townsend, aren’t we heading to the palace?”

Normally, when the Duke of America meets foreign guests, especially the King of a nation on good terms with America, it should be a different protocol.

A flash of displeasure crossed Townsend’s face, but it quickly disappeared, as he asked with a hint of dissatisfaction, “King Toyota, who is this?”

Ichiro Toyota sensed the shift in atmosphere and smiled, “This is my assistant, I apologize for his blunt nature. Please do not take offense.”

After speaking, Ichiro Toyota turned and gave Chen Shanhe a displeased look but said nothing after all.

This was all part of the act, to maintain the appearance of their respective identities.

Townsend nodded slightly, saying to Chen Shanhe, “His Grace, Olima, has not yet finished dealing with all matters and the handover with Hester is incomplete, so he cannot meet with your King at the palace.”

“Do you understand my explanation?”

While the content of his words had no issue, the condescending tone was irksome.

However, Chen Shanhe was accustomed to big events and would not let such minor matters cause him to lose his composure or show any dissatisfaction.

The explanation given was flimsy, but still passable. @@novelbin@@

Chen Shanhe nodded slightly and replied, “I apologize for my rashness.”

Townsend did not say more, not even casting another glance at Chen Shanhe, but stood by the car door, waiting for the King of Japan to board the designated vehicle.

Ichiro Toyota did not add anything either and sat in the special car prepared by America.
