Chapter 32 - 32 31 The Pig is Foaming at the Mouth
Chapter 32: Chapter 31: The Pig is Foaming at the Mouth Chapter 32: Chapter 31: The Pig is Foaming at the Mouth Mianmian’s words turned Qin Tao’s face as black as the bottom of a pot, and since they were live-streaming the event, that circle of red marks was evidence enough that he had to apologize.
“Little Auntie, I’m sorry, I was just worried that you’d cause trouble for the sow,” Qin Tao apologized while searching his mind for a way to turn the situation around, and he actually thought of one.
So, his expression became even gentler, and he bowed to Mianmian, “It’s right for you to want to return it to me, and now it’s best that the sow is okay.”
Seeing Qin Tao apologize, Mianmian felt it was somewhat a pity.
She fidgeted, touching her little hands, “My dad says that apologizing for making a mistake for the first time can be forgiven, you can’t grab my hand so hard next time.”
After finishing her words, Mianmian turned her head away from Qin Tao’s face and looked at the suckling piglets instead.
Animal babies are cuter when they are small, and piglets are no exception. The pink piglets born to the sow Dafen were especially adorable in their pinkness. At that moment, the 9 piglets lay neatly in a row, gulping down milk with ‘glug glug’ sounds.
As she watched, Mianmian gulped down her saliva.
“Mianmian also wants some milk,” she muttered softly. “I wonder if my big nephew has given away the milk powder to other little friends this morning.”
The staff knew about Mianmian taking a milk bottle in the morning and asking someone to help her mix the powder to drink, and now hearing Mianmian’s muttering, they couldn’t help but laugh so much that the screen shook.
Mianmian, the little darling, is just too funny, isn’t she?
While Mianmian was watching the little pigs, Qin Tao was still apologizing to Su Chenfei, “I’m truly sorry, I was just afraid your task wouldn’t be completed and there would be problems with the pigs, so I got a bit anxious. As good brothers for so many years, you won’t hold this against me, right?”
Su Chenfei smiled, accepting the apology, “No problem, it’s good as long as we’ve talked it out, but you must be careful next time.”
Qin Tao nodded, “Yes, I will. I’m going to go see how Ahao and Li Yang are doing, I’ll take my leave now.”
Qin Tao turned and left.
Su Chenfei looked again and again at Mianmian’s wrist, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.
He still felt uncomfortable.
Now that the sow Dafen and her piglets were safe, Grandpa Zhao and Grandma Zhao were very happy. Taking advantage of the break in conversation with the guests, Grandma Zhao asked Mianmian, “Mianmian, what did you feed the pig mother? How did she suddenly give birth to the piglets?”
Mianmian, curled up small on the ground, turned her adorable little head to Grandma Zhao and replied, “It was the Smooth… um, what was that pill again? Oh, it’s not important. Mama said that Bai Bai’s mother couldn’t give birth to Bai Bai until she ate it, and then she successfully had Bai Bai.”
Grandma Zhao looked astonished, “There is such a pill? Is it called the Smooth Delivery Pill?”
Mianmian nodded her chin, “Yes, yes, the Smooth Delivery Pill.”
After responding to Grandma Zhao, Mianmian carefully reached out her small hands to touch the little piglets who had already dried off, “The little piggies are so cute. Grandma, may I invite my friends to come see the piglets with me?”
Grandma Zhao nodded, “Of course, go ahead and bring your friends over.”
With the homeowner’s permission, Mianmian patted Dafen’s piggy head, “You’re so great, Dafen. I’m going to invite my friends to come to see you, do you agree?”
Dafen, “Ng, mmh!”
Mianmian smiled happily and also mentioned to Su Chenfei that she wanted to find Gu Youyou.
Su Chenfei took off his coverall and handed it to Grandma Zhao before asking, “Grandma Zhao, do you know the way to Madam Wang’s house at the entrance of the village, where the chickens are raised?”
Grandma Zhao gave him directions, and then both the large and small figures went to the well outside where they washed their faces and hands with the well water before heading toward Madam Wang’s house.
The camera followed along.
Grandpa Zhao and Grandma Zhao stood in the same spot for a while longer, watching the sow and discussing future care. After stocking the feeding trough with pig feed for the sow, the two elderly people then closed the doors to the pigsty and went to attend to other matters.
After Grandpa Zhao and Grandma Zhao left, a long time passed before Qin Tao came over.
The pigsty, designed for ventilation, usually had half a roof open. The sow, after feeding her piglets for half the day, was eating the feed in the trough to replenish her nutrients.
As she ate, she sensed a stranger approaching. Lifting her head, she caught a glance and backed away several steps.
She was indeed afraid of Qin Tao.
Qin Tao’s lips curled into a smirk, his expression cold as he watched the sow with amusement. Checking that no one was around, he unscrewed the cap of a small bottle he was holding and poured the liquid inside into the pig feed. Then, he grabbed a stirring spoon next to him, stirred the mixture evenly, and put the spoon down.
“Damned beast, you dare to make me lose face. Just die already.”
Those three words, “Herbicide Liquid,” were written on the small bottle.
After cursing, Qin Tao glanced around to make sure no one was nearby, hurriedly threw the bottle into a pile of pig manure, and returned to Li Gao’s house.
Li Gao had said he was going to weed the vegetable garden and hadn’t come back yet. The camera was also filming Qin Hao and Li Yang, as the two boys played with plastic building blocks, each engrossed in their own play.
After Qin Tao returned, he squatted by the table, playing with the two children.
“Ahao, you should play more with your little brother,” Qin Tao said as he handed over a small car he’d casually put together to Li Yang, adding, “Toot toot beep beep, oh, here comes the car, Li Yang.”
But that small car immediately knocked over the tall building Li Yang had meticulously assembled.
Li Yang’s brows furrowed, his eyes—black and white clearly defined—glared intensely at Qin Tao, his expression extremely displeased.
Seeing Li Yang remain silent, Qin Tao thought to himself that it was just as he expected.
Li Yang, this kid, has autism! He might also have a speech impairment, which is why he doesn’t speak at all. Otherwise, why would he just stare at him without a word when his toys were knocked over?
A child who can’t speak is good, very good.
Qin Tao apologized with a smile: “Ah, sorry about that, big brother knocked over your toy. Shall I help you put it back together?”
As he spoke, he reached out his hand, intending to touch Li Yang’s toys.
Li Yang looked at him with disgust, and with a slap, knocked Qin Tao’s hand away, placing all his toys on a chair and started playing there.
[This kid is really stingy, our Tao just wanted to play with him.]
[Exactly, Ahao played with him for so long, and he didn’t even respond when he was spoken to. Country kids have no manners.]
On the live stream screen, many of Qin Tao’s fans criticized Li Yang.
Qin Tao squatted down and continued to coax Li Yang in front of the camera. He tenderly apologized to Li Yang, but he still ignored him, and eventually, Li Yang took all his toys and went back into the house, refusing to come out again.
Qin Tao continued to coax while occasionally glancing at the large clock in Li Yang’s house. As half an hour passed, he thought: By now, there should be some noise, right?
Sure enough, Grandpa Zhao came running back from the pigsty, panic-stricken, grabbed some things, and ran back toward the pigsty.
Qin Tao smiled slightly and quickly caught up to ask, “What’s wrong, Grandpa Zhao?”
Annoyed at being stopped, Grandpa Zhao said to Qin Tao, “Our pig is foaming at the mouth. I’m taking this emetic medicine to feed it. Don’t block my way.”
Having heard the answer he wanted, Qin Tao said to the crew, “They might need my help over there. I’ll go take a look. You just film this side.”
Without waiting for the crew to agree to let him look after the children, he ran off.
What do you think?
