Back To The 90s: The Resilient Daughter-In-Law

Chapter 127: 127: Whose Room_1

Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Whose Room_1

“Wow!” Chen Cuihua’s hands covered her face, revealing a hint of admiration and envy. She muttered to herself, “So this is Nan Fei’s man? They are indeed a perfect match. Truly a feast for the eyes.”

Upon hearing his own mother’s words, Gongxi Yunqi gritted his teeth, his vision blackening. He wasn’t sure if it was due to anemia or that he had stood up too abruptly, causing a lack of oxygen to his brain.

In any case, he was furious.

He finally understood why his mother never favored him since childhood—it was because he wasn’t her birth son. Jiang Nanfei was her biological daughter; calling her ‘sister’ was merely a deliberate smokescreen.

“Son, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Chen Cuihua finally noticed his pale face. Seeing him swaying slightly, she hurriedly went over to support him.

“Let me take you to the hospital!” While appreciating a beautiful woman was important to her, her own son was unquestionably more so.

“I’m fine,” Gongxi Yunqi managed to utter, “I just stood up too suddenly.”

“That’s good!” Chen Cuihua finally relaxed. Her mood to admire beautiful women returned. She didn’t forget to share her thoughts with her son, “Son, look at your Aunt Nan Fei’s boyfriend, isn’t he handsome?”

“No! He’s! Not! At all! Handsome!” Gongxi Yunqi enunciated each word before turning away, his shoulder brushing against two people who had just entered the door.

“Hey! Isn’t this my nephew?” A sardonic smile curled up on Huo Beijiang’s face. Staring at Nan Fei, he taunted, “So you live here?”

“Look, I had no idea you’d be here. Do you believe me?”

“I do.”

Nan Fei quietly let out a sigh of relief. She felt unnerved by his bullying behavior. She was fearful he might repeat it.

“Nan Fei!” Chen Cuihua’s eyes sparkled as she reached out to greet Nan Fei. However, Huo Beijiang stepped forward, shielding Nan Fei behind him. He now perceived his mother as a greater threat than his son.

“And you are?” Chen Cuihua hadn’t recognised him due to the distance. Her eyes finally landed on him as she got closer. This man seemed familiar. She racked her brains, her gaze fixed on Huo Beijiang.

Huo Beijiang didn’t care. He pulled Nan Fei in nonchalantly and walked across the lobby directly towards the stairs. On the way, he asked, “Which one’s yours?”

“The one in the furthest corner,” Nan Fei had already resigned herself to her fate.

“Open the door.” Huo Beijiang led the way. Upon arrival, he threw his bag on the floor, crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the wall.

“Okay,” with her head lowered, Nan Fei had no idea why she ended up opening the door. Only after opening did she question why she did so. If he wanted to stay, he could just get another room.

Why did he drop his luggage in her room?

Huo Beijiang stepped in, his sharp gaze scanning the modest room. The pale blue bed sheet, the desk, the Slam Dunk poster on the wall, and the basketball in the corner.

His pupils suddenly narrowed, and his entire demeanor changed.

Nan Fei followed him in and got startled. Instinctively, she wanted to run but ended up yanked back by him at the doorway. The door closed with a bang, and her entire body was pinned against the door by Huo Beijiang.

“What… what are you doing?” His brooding demeanor scared her as she nervously swallowed her saliva.

Unbeknownst to her, the action of her swallowing ignited a raw craving in the man’s icy gaze.

“Do you know whose room you’re living in?” His voice was stern and threatening.

Nan Fei had initially felt that the room was different from the usual hotel rooms since she moved in. But as it was clean, she didn’t give it much thought.

Moreover, at that time, she didn’t know Sister Chen or that she was Gongxi Yunqi’s mother, so she never really gave it much thought.

Now being questioned by Huo Beijiang, everything made sense.

Huo Beijiang carefully observed her expression, “You indeed know!” his voice hoarse, tinged with a ferocity that could shred anything.
