Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Chapter 352 Sneaking In, Sneaking Out

"Finally, they're silent," Renren sighed as he closed his eyes.

"I think it was the wrong call to place them inside one room," Kun said. "They're not going to let us sleep tonight."

"I'm so glad I'm not in that room," Jinping said with a smile. "I can only imagine how noisy it would be if I was actually there."

"Well, at least we know they're capable of being silent," Yuze chimed, also closing his eyes.

"Let's take advantage of this situation and sleep while they're quiet," he added.

Kun yawned and covered his body with the blanket. "Now that we're talking about it, I am pretty tired."

Renren also yawned, being infected by Kun. "I'll set up the alarm for us."

With that, the group of four boys closed their eyes and fell into slumber, oblivious to the mischievous acts that their teammates were doing.

"And we're out!" Jet exclaimed. "See? That wasn't so hard, was it?"

"It definitely was," Andy said, feeling breathless. "I almost threw up when Lina went out of her room just as we had passed her."

Shang felt a shiver run down his spine. "Yeah, that would have been the end of us."

Jet clicked his tongue. "What's even the matter if we sneak into the main dorms? It's not like we're doing anything illegal."

"It's because we don't have a slot inside," Kai said. "But you're right. Let's go."

"That's my boy!" Jet exclaimed.@@novelbin@@

Andy looked at Kai with raised eyebrows. "You're actually for this?"

"Why not?" Kai shrugged. "Aren't you guys curious, too?"

"Besides," he said, pulling his beanie lower to cover his eyebrows. He also wore a mask. "They won't even know that we're there!"

"Let me have one," Andy said, grabbing one of the masks.

Shang and Jet also put on a mask before they entered the main dorms. Fortunately, the entrance was unguarded, so they made it in without being interrogated.

However, even then, they couldn't help but feel cautious.

"Why are we crouching down?" Kai asked after a while.

"Because we might get caught," Jet whispered.

"Don't you think this is more suspicious, though?" Kai asked. "We look like idiots."

After Kai said those words, they realized that they, indeed, looked like idiots.

With that, they straightened their postures and finally looked around the building.

Chatters filled the space as students wandered the halls.

"I knew I said that our quarters aren't bad, but dang, this place takes the cake," Shang said with his mouth agape.

"And you guys got mad at me for complaining," Jet said. "This is the life! We should definitely go here again."

"Well, if Shizi High supports us further, then that would be possible," Andy muttered.

Just then, Kai stopped, causing the others to halt, too.

"What?" Shang asked.

"Do you guys hear that?" Kai said with narrowed eyes.

The other three turned to each other with raised eyebrows.

"Hear what?" Jet clarified.

"That," Kai smirked. "It's the sound of the ball bouncing."

Andy shook his head in amusement. "I can't believe you've heard that over the chatters."

Kai chuckled and started walking in the direction of the noise. "Let's go," he said. "It's near here."

With that, the other three followed after Kai until they arrived at the in-house court of the building.

The facility had a separate basketball court—a covered and an open one for their basketball player guests. However, aside from that, they also had a court inside the dorm itself, where guests could play to their heart's extent.

As Kai entered the court, his breath got caught in the back of his throat.

"What the heck?" Jet muttered from behind them. "What's with this fancy-ass place?"

"They even have different colored lights," he added.

"And what's that? An automatic ball cleaner?" Shang asked.

"You need one of those in your home," Jet remarked. "For your real balls."

Shang clicked his tongue and ignored his words.

"Let's go inside," Andy giddily said.

The others nodded and made their way to the seats, all while observing the court. With their weird get-up, they gained some attention.

The Feng Foxes, who wanted to play for fun, immediately noticed the four newcomers.

"Why do those guys look familiar?" Yiming asked.

Chunlei narrowed his eyes at them before shaking his head in amusement. "That's because we know them," he deadpanned. "What are they doing here, though? They aren't allowed to be here."

"This feels like a fever dream," Andy muttered as they sat on the small bleachers. Two teams were playing—one of them being the Feng Foxes. The other one was a school that they didn't recognize.

However, it seemed like they were from Shanghai.

The two teams settled half court, doing some fun drills. A few players from the Xing Stars, along with Qiang, were also with the Feng Foxes, casually conversing like they were old friends.

Kai then noticed that Chaoxing, along with some other players of the Juren Champions, had arrived. He unconsciously sighed in relief when he didn't see the 'Jimmy' guy that disrespected him a while back.

Chaoxing walked to where the Shanghai players were and asked them if it was alright to practice with them.

The other players appeared happy and honored as they passed the ball to the Champions. With the arrival of the Champions, more people poured in.

Some of them wore different uniforms for different sports, which Kai found cool.

Some girls also entered the court, causing Jet to clutch Kai's clothes. Volleyball players, basketball players, and even some with swimming caps graced the bleachers.

"They also have girls here?" he whisper-shouted.

Shang chuckled. "This place is a common ground," he said. "The rooms are separated, but anyone can come to this place."

Jet pursed his lips. "Ah, it was a great decision for us to come here."

Kai stayed silent as he took it all.

He felt like a kid in a little playground, but he couldn't really get up and play since he knew that they shouldn't be there. Moreover, he wasn't in the proper attire.

He was still wearing semi-pajamas along with the free slippers they had given.

With that, they settled with conversing and enjoying the atmosphere.

However, the court suddenly turned silent, and the boys followed suit.

"What's happening?" Andy muttered.

The people around them started murmuring as a group of players entered through the door.

"Is that... the University of Shanghai?"
