Chapter 354 College Players Are On Another Level
"Dang," Jet muttered. "It's about to go down."
"I knew it was a good decision to come here," Andy said, leaning against his knees as he folded his legs. "This is bound to become fun!"
"You were the most against it in the beginning," Jet deadpanned. "Anyway, I can't wait. Are they really going to play against the players of the University of Shanghai?"
"What do you say?" Donghai asked with a mischievous smile.
Chunlei pursed his lips. He was confident in the beginning. However, after seeing Donghai's stunt, he felt a bit hesitant. Moreover, he didn't think that the Feng Foxes would be able to beat their roster—especially since they were all older, bigger, and probably a little bit better than most of them.
Not Chunlei, though.
He still believed in his skills.
"Or are the little kids scared?" Jiho asked, obviously taunting Chunlei.
Chunlei turned around and looked at his teammates. Bocheng, who was their center and tallest player, quickly shook his head, appearing scared.
Well, next to Donghai, he did appear like a little mouse. Shilei, too, shook his head. He knew he was powerful, but against them, he felt too much like an amateur.
Chunlei clicked his tongue and shuffled closer to Yiming to whisper something to him.
"If I agree to the game, would you back me up?"
Yiming raised his hands in surrender. "Don't drag me in this. I was offered a try-out for their team, so I'm not taking any chances."
Chunlei pursed his lips and shook his head. He couldn't beat their team all alone!@@novelbin@@
"I don't think the others would appreciate that. We can't play a game with just us while these many players are using the court," he said.
"All I'm hearing are reasons," Zicheng said. "You can just say you're scared, little kid."
Chunlei bit his lip in frustration.
Just then, someone behind them spoke, seemingly lighting up the atmosphere.
A tall, young player from Shanliang High cleared his throat. "My team doesn't mind vacating the court. I think a friendly game would actually be nice."
Chunlei cursed under his breath.
"There it is!" Jiho exclaimed. "Now, we can play, right? I bet everyone wants to see it, too," he loudly said, causing agreements to go around the court.
Chunlei looked around and saw that there were more people watching now.
He could already imagine the humiliation once they lose!
Just then, someone interrupted, capturing their attention once more.
It was none other than Chaoxing, and at that moment, Chunlei felt like a ray of hope appeared before him.
"A friendly game?" Chaoxing asked. "Do you mind if I join?"
Donghai chuckled. "Oh, Chaoxing," he said. "You want to play with the little kids?"
Chaoxing chuckled and lightheartedly nodded. "Well, technically, I am part of these little kids."
Zicheng confidently shrugged. "It doesn't matter," he said. "You guys go ahead and choose your team."
With that, Chaoxing faced Chunlei. "Is it alright if I join?" he asked.
Chunlei nodded while trying to hide his enthusiasm.
Then, he turned to glare at his teammates, who all appeared like scaredy cats.
"Sorry, bud," Yiming whispered. "If there's someone from us who can actually take down these cocky bastards, then it's you."
"We can't just form a team of two people," Chunlei whispered back.
Qiang cleared his throat and courageously raised his hand.
"I'll join you, too," he confidently said, appearing determined.
"That's three already," Jiho smirked. "Two more, and we're good to go."
"Is it alright if I also join?" the boy from Shanliang asked.
"Kevin," Chaoxing smiled. "I think it's alright."
Chunlei, despite not knowing who Kevin was, diligently nodded. If Chaoxing deemed him fit to join their team, then Chunlei felt he didn't have a choice but to accept him, too.
Chaoxing went next to Chunlei and nudged his shoulder. "Kevin is from Shanliang. They're a good team, and Kevin is a great shooter."
Chunlei nodded. Well, at least Kexin now had a replacement.
"One more," Chunlei muttered and looked around. He turned to his side and saw Zedong with an amused expression.
He gave him a look.
"Join us," he said.
Zedong shook his head. "I have an ankle sprain. I wasn't even supposed to come here, but the coach insisted that I train the younger players."
Chunlei clicked his tongue and felt his frustration bubbling in his chest. There wasn't anyone else who could join them!
Donghai yawned as he glanced at his watch. "Ah, this is taking so long. You should have let us practice instead."
Chunlei sighed and turned to Chaoxing.
"Do you have anyone else on your team?" he asked.
Chaoxing shook his head. "The players I have are the upcoming first-year recruits who still lack a lot of training. I just wanted to show them around since it's their first time here."
"I see," Chunlei said.
"Come on now," Zicheng impatiently said. "We don't have all day. Can't you just call one of your teammates already?"
Chunlei pursed his lips. He couldn't just do that! If he wanted to win, then he needed to look for a competent teammate.
Just then, Chunlei's eyes wandered off to the bleachers, finding four covered creatures at the corner.
"What is happening?" Andy asked from the bleachers. "It's taking so long. What are they even talking about?"
"I know, right," Jet sighed. "Dinner will come, and we'll have to leave prematurely at this point."
"Well, there are only four of them right now," Shang observed. "They might be missing another player."
Kai's heart started racing in excitement. He was curious about the level of skill that the college players had. He was also looking forward to seeing how the younger players would handle the game. Explore more at My Virtual Library Empire
Aside from that, he had always wanted to see Chaoxing play live. He couldn't believe that he had so much to look forward to!
With his full attention on the court, Kai suddenly felt something strange.
He glanced at his side to see if anything was happening. However, they were only surrounded by other sports people who were excited to watch the not-so-friendly game.
"Hey, Kai," Andy said, nudging his shoulder.
"Is it just me, or are they looking toward our way?"
What do you think?
