Chapter 356 Show Them, Young Blood (1)
"As expected from the trio of the University of Shanghai!"
"It was a great idea for us to skip training to watch this."
"I feel like I'm watching a real-life anime!"
The gym became alive with murmurs and scattered applause as the trio from the University of Shanghai took control of the game. Their teamwork was undeniable, and it was clear why they dominated the court.
Jiho, the fast hands, stole the ball.
Zicheng, the sticky hands, kept it.
Donghai, the strong hands, controlled it.
They were a force to be reckoned with.
"College players are on another level," someone whispered from the sidelines, echoing the sentiments of many in the crowd.
"That guy picked the wrong opponents. The difference is too much."
"They've been through what the younger players are going through now," another added.
"Yeah, Chunlei should have just let them get the court."
"Oof," Jet chuckled. "Those guys are pretty good, huh?"
"Pretty good?" Andy exclaimed. "They're beyond good."
Yet, Shang wasn't convinced, so he shrugged.
Jet raised his eyebrows in surprise. "You don't think they're good?"
Shang smiled. "They are, of course. I just think that those guys aren't, in any way, lacking in skills," he said, pointing to Kai's team.
Kai could hear some of the sentiments in the crowd, especially the chatter coming from the side.
He knew they were right.
Experience was a powerful advantage, and the trio had more of it compared to them.
But that didn't mean he was about to back down. He glanced at his teammates, each of them focused, determined, and just as capable.
They would be easily defeated if they were just a bunch of young players.
However, the people around him weren't ordinary high school players —they were among the best.
He believed that with every fiber of his being.
As the game continued, the trio showcased their skills once more.
Jiho intercepted a pass with a quick swipe.
The crowd gasped, but it was no surprise to those who knew him.
Stealing the ball was second nature to him, a skill honed through years of practice and experience.
Without missing a beat, Jiho passed the ball to Zicheng.
Zicheng's grip on the ball was unbreakable, his dribbling smooth and controlled. He moved through the defenders like a needle through the fabric.
There was no rushing, no panic—only precision.
As Zicheng approached the basket, Donghai made his move.
With a leap, he received the ball from Zicheng in mid-air, his muscles tensing as he prepared to finish the play. Then, with a mighty slam, he dunked the ball, the sound of the rim echoing through the gym.
"Another two points!" someone shouted, their voice drowned out by the cheers that followed.
The crowd chattered with excitement as the synergy of the trio was on full display.
For a moment, it seemed as though the high school players were outmatched, their inexperience glaring in comparison.
"You're showing off now," Jiho teased.
"You better give them an easier time," Zicheng added. "It looks like they're about to cry."
Kai merely shook his head in amusement.
He could see the game for what it was—a test of will as much as it was of skill.
He nodded to his teammates, signaling for them to get ready.
They just had to play their game, and things will fall into place.
"Are you just going to stand there or what?" Qiang exclaimed from the side, appearing annoyed at Kai.
Kai shook his head in amusement. Qiang hadn't changed one bit.
With that, he took a deep breath, steadying his nerves.
Kai smirked at Chunlei, wanting to show him that it was right for him to call him to the team. However, he quickly realized that it couldn't even be seen through his mask. With that, he focused on the game once more.
With a quick glance at Zicheng, he saw the opportunity. Sticky hands or not, Kai knew he could take the ball. His slippers barely gripped the floor, but that didn't matter. He had something more important—skill.
In one swift motion, Kai burst with speed.
He darted toward Zicheng, his feet moving faster than they had all game.
Zicheng was caught off guard, not expecting such an aggressive play.
Qiang, too, was momentarily surprised. "What the heck? Where did his speed come from?"@@novelbin@@
Meanwhile, Kai's teammates turned to each other with knowing gazes.
"There he is," Shang chuckled.
With a quick reach, Kai took the ball from him, his hands gripping it firmly.
Kai didn't waste any time. He knew that hesitation could cost him the moment.
A small smile made its way to Chaoxing's smile as he watched Kai bolt to their side of the court. It was a pace that he couldn't keep up with.
When Chunlei picked the comfortably clothed guy with a mask and a bonnet, Chaoxing couldn't deny that that he was a little bit hesitant. Although he didn't appear like it, he was extremely competitive.
He wanted to win, and he wasn't sure if this guy would even contribute anything.
However, seeing this strange guy from afar, Chaoxing thought that Chunlei picked him for a good reason.
Kai dribbled past the defenders with accurate speed, his eyes locked on the basket.
It was a simple play, but everyone on the court knew it would be difficult.
The college players, experienced and skilled as they were, recognized the threat. Find your next read at My Virtual Library Empire
They rushed to stop him, but Kai was already two steps ahead.
As he approached the free-throw line, Kai felt the weight of the moment. This was his chance to prove that high school players weren't one to be underestimated.
He squared his shoulders, planted his feet, and launched the ball into the air.
Time seemed to slow as the ball arced toward the basket, the crowd holding their breath. The college players watched in disbelief, their eyes wide with surprise.
Kai's shot was precise, and the trajectory appeared flawless. The ball hung in the air for what felt like an eternity before it swished through the net, the sound like music to his ears.
Kai couldn't help but smile, a sense of pride swelling in his chest.
4-2.
What do you think?
