Chapter 392 Shizi Dogs vs. Faith Weavers (1)
Those seven hours definitely weren't an easy feat.
Frankly, it was even tougher than some of the games they had done!
Yuze, however, stayed put in his seat for those seven hours, not even bothering to go for a bathroom break.
Kai, on the other hand, watched all of the games as if he were a basketball enthusiast. He wanted to gauge their future competitors. However, even after so many games, he could say that the Ying Eagles were really the best among all those who played for the day.
Fortunately, Lina brought them food and snacks along the way, so it wasn't that miserable.
Finally, as the seventh game reached the fourth quarter, the Shizi Dogs made their way down the court. However, it seemed like fate was toying with them as it extended to an overtime.
The audience was getting tired by the minute. In fact, in the late afternoon, nearly half of the people were already gone.@@novelbin@@
Kai peeked through the entrance and saw that plenty more people were leaving, causing him to sigh.
He had wanted to show off to more people, but then again, he would have more chances to do that in the future!
Nina and Rolan were in the first row, and they looked around with concerned looks.
"Only a fourth of the audience is left," Rolan said.
Nina hummed. Then, they also heard some of the conversations going around them.
"Who are the next competitors? Faith Academy…and Shizi High? Have you heard of those two before?"
"I've heard of Faith. They were here last year, I believe. They were a small margin away from the top 16 even though it's their first time in the Nationals."
"Eh, that's not good enough for me," one chimed. "Let's go. The Elite teams are going to be playing tomorrow."
"Alright, let's go."
And with that, the court became even emptier.
The seventh game finally ended in favor of the school from Xinjiang. They rejoiced for a while before they were escorted out of the court. It seemed like even the staff were getting tired.
"Let's go," Yuze said after the cleaners wiped down the floors.
They headed to their bench, looking around the bleachers. Fortunately, there were still around a hundred people inside, with most of them being supporters of the Faith Weavers.
Yuze pleasantly smiled when he saw that some of his past classmates had also come. They were a small amount compared to the others, but their support still meant a lot to him.
The Faith Weavers also made their way to their benches, appearing like they had already won.
"Ah," one of their seniors sighed. "Do we really have to play this game?"
"Why can't they just give us a default win?" they asked, loud enough for the Shizi Dogs to hear.
The Shizi Dogs turned to them with raised eyebrows.
Kai and his roommates instantly recognized those they had met during their first day here—Dingbang, Hong, and their friends.
Kai's gaze met with Dingbang, and he quickly looked away, appearing scared.
A small smile made its way to Kai's lips as he tilted his head to the side.
Yuze shook his head, ignoring the cocky team as he stretched his limbs. The others, too, went with their usual routines, ignoring the goofy group.
"Eh, we're talking to you," one of them said, narrowing his eyes at them. Find your next adventure on My Virtual Library Empire
Jinping swatted the air, not even bothering to look at them. "Do you guys hear that?"
"Ah, it's true when they say that empty cans make the loudest noise," Kai added, scratching the back of his neck.
"What did you say?" another exclaimed out of annoyance.
Just then, the referee came, looking at the two teams.
"Is there a problem here?" he asked.
Yuze shook his head.
"No, sir," he politely said while bowing his head.
The referee nodded and pointed to the timer. "Three minutes," he said.
Yuze nodded and bowed once more. Meanwhile, the Faith Weavers finally left them all alone and went to their bench. However, that did not stop them from glaring at the Shizi Dogs.
"Dogs?" their captain scoffed. "What name even is that?"
Dingbang and Hong looked at each other with concern.
"Umm, captain," Dingbang hesitantly said. "I don't think it's a good idea to keep taunting him."
Their co-captain turned to Dingbang and wrapped an arm around him—much tighter than Dingbang had expected.
"What do you mean, kid?" he asked. "Taunting your opponents is one way to bring them down. Have you forgotten about that?"
Dingbang swallowed. "I'm aware, co-captain," he said. He held that principle very high ever since he entered the Faith Weavers. It boosted his confidence and brought down their opponents. However, that only worked for those who were truly weaker than them.
Dingbang glanced at the Shizi Dogs once more and found that Kai was still staring at him. He felt a shiver run down his spine, and he quickly looked away.
That guy was definitely not weaker than them!
"Anyway," their captain said, cracking his knuckles. "It seems like our little Dingbang is scared right now. I was planning on letting you enter the first quarter because we have an easy game."
Dingbang gulped.
"However, seeing that you're hesitant, go and sit with the others. Watch and learn from your seniors."
Dingbang didn't have to be told twice. He went right ahead to the bench and sat straight.
With that, the loud buzzer was heard from the court, signaling the start of the very last game of the day. A small amount of cheers were heard, with most of those left feeling tired from the long day.
"Shizi Dogs! Fight, fight, fight!" Yuze led their chant.
Then, he went right ahead to the court.
For the first quarter, it was Kai, Jet, Kun, Yuze, and Jinping.
The referee raised his hand, and the two centers prepared for the jump ball. Yuze and the center of the Faith Weavers were around the same height, so it was hard to predict who was going to grab the ball.
However, for the Shizi Dogs, it was already certain.
The referee threw the ball high up in the air, and with that, the Shizi Dogs showed the Faith Weavers what they were made out of.
What do you think?
