Chapter 309: Liora Exposes the Lies!
The audience was stunned.
Many had not expected Varen to openly state the weaknesses of Titanhoof and he did so without hesitation.
Even Sylvia Aurelius, who had initially questioned him, could only nod slightly and accept the explanation.
"Well… at least he gave an answer."
Some nobles whispered among themselves.
"I guess Beast Castle is learning from Luxoria Castle."
"Yeah, but that was kind of expected."
However—
Another voice suddenly echoed from another VIP room.
"Hello, I am one of the VIPs, but I don't want to tell my name for secrecy reasons."
The crowd turned toward the VIP room, whispering among themselves.
"A new doubter?"
"She must be someone important if she has a VIP room."
"And she's hiding her identity? This is getting interesting."
Inside her VIP suite, Liora smirked, leaning against the wall as she hid her true identity.
Luna and Loreia grinned, watching the scene unfold from their own room.
Liora then continued.
"I have also studied Titanhoof. And I've encountered a similar species of Titanhoof aside from this one."
The crowd listened intently, sensing something off about her words.
Liora's eyes gleamed as she revealed her findings.
"And from what I know… Titanhoof isn't actually afraid of water."
The auction hall fell silent.
Even Varen frowned after hearing it.
Liora smirked, enjoying the reaction.
"Not only that... but saying that soft ground is its weakness? That's also incorrect."
She leaned forward, tapping the armrest with her fingers.
"Thanks to its sheer weight, soft ground actually compresses beneath it, turning into solid terrain. So it doesn't actually get trapped as easily as you claim."
The crowd murmured again, exchanging glances.
Some of the more experienced beast tamers nodded, realizing the logic in her words.
"That… actually makes sense."
"Wait, so did Varen just say things based on assumption?"
Liora wasn't finished.
"And as for water? Calling it afraid of water is ridiculous. What kind of warhorse is afraid of a battlefield just because of water?"
She chuckled lightly as she continued to mock him.
"If you had said it was slower in a water battlefield, or that its movement becomes restricted due to its weight, then sure, that would be correct."
Her tone became sharp.
"But saying it fears water? That's outright wrong."
The entire audience shifted, now looking back at Varen.
Liora paused for a moment before delivering the final strike.
"Although you are wrong for the first two weaknesses, I can agree with the third one."
"But you are still wrong in the first two. So now, Lord Varen. Did you really study Titanhoof's weaknesses?"
The crowd waited in anticipation.
"Or… did you just say whatever sounded right after looking at its form?"
A silence filled the auction hall.
Inside the VIP suite, Luna chuckled, shaking her head.
"Damn. She really called him out."
Loreia smirked. "This is getting fun."
Lucius?
He simply grinned, watching as Varen was finally being pushed into a corner.
---
Varen frowned as he glared in the direction of the anonymous VIP.
"How can you tell that what I am saying is wrong?"
He was quite irritated thanks to Liora.
But he forced himself to be composed as he was the director.
"Who is to say that you aren't lying? That you're not just trying to discredit me?"
A few nobles muttered in agreement, but most of the audience simply watched.
They were waiting for the VIP's response.
Inside the VIP room, Liora smirked, tilting her head slightly.
"Oh, Lord Varen. I never said I was lying."
She then mocked him.
"I'm just saying that you… are a liar."
Shocked whispers spread across the hall.
"She called him a liar outright?"
"This is getting interesting."
Varen's brows furrowed, his fingers slightly twitching against the auction podium.
Liora smirked as she continued.
"Let's just do this then. If you're saying that what you said is true, then why don't we test it right now?"
Varen's eyes narrowed, but remained silent.
"Why don't we take out a water beast and have it throw a water attack at Titanhoof?"
Liora was really confident as she continued.
"If Titanhoof is truly afraid of water, then we'll all see it, won't we?"
"If it panics, struggles, or outright refuses to fight, then I'll apologize."
The crowd cheered loudly now, intrigued by the challenge.
"That's a fair test."
"Is he going to do it?"
Liora's smirk deepened as she delivered the final blow.
"But if Titanhoof doesn't react the way you claimed..."
"Then I guess that means you were lying in front of all these esteemed guests, huh?"
The room was in silence once again.
Even from inside their own VIP suite, Luna was grinning, clearly enjoying the show.
"Damn, she really has him cornered."
Loreia chuckled, shaking her head.
"Varen should've prepared better. He underestimated the intelligence of his audience."
Lucius simply smirked, watching the show with amusement.
Varen's fists clenched slightly, but he forced himself to clam down.
Then—
He let out a short, forced chuckle.
"I'm sorry. It seems that I have misread the description."
He waved his hand, adjusting his expression, trying to regain his confidence.
"I had meant to say that water only slows Titanhoof down, not that it fears it."
Some nobles nodded slowly, but others exchanged skeptical glances.
"So he's backtracking now?"
"He got caught lying, and now he's trying to adjust his words."
Varen frowned. He realized that he had lost the first battle.
On the other hand, Liora only smirked while leaning back in her chair.
"Oh? So it was just a mistake?"
She was mocking him, but not enough to outright insult him.
Varen exhaled slowly, his voice tight but composed.
"Yes. A mistake."
Liora simply smirked wider.
"Well then, Lord Varen… You should be careful when presenting information to your guests."
Varen was still frowning, but force himself to give a small, professional smile.
The crowd, however, had already turned skeptical.
"Is this really the quality of Beast Castle's auction?"
"If they can misread something this basic, what else are they hiding?"
Liora, noticing the shift, decided to strike again.
"But still…"
Her voice echoed throughout the hall again, catching the attention of every guest.
"There is one more weakness that I haven't mentioned yet."
The crowd went silent.
Even Varen froze momentarily, his eyes narrowing as he realized that Liora wasn't done with him yet.
Liora smirked.
"Dear audience… do you wish to hear it?"
The auction hall instantly erupted.
And within seconds, multiple nobles and wealthy tamers nodded eagerly.
"Of course we do!"
"If it's another flaw they didn't mention, we should know."
"We are placing bids with our own money. We deserve full transparency!"
Even Sylvia Aurelius smirked from her VIP suite, resting her chin on her palm.
"Heh… Now, this is getting interesting."
Varen's expression tightened, his fingers clenching against the podium.
This was spiraling out of his control.
He knew it.
Lucius, watching from the VIP suite, chuckled.
"Liora… go ahead. Give them the final push."
Liora grinned, taking full control of the moment.
The next words she spoke would shake Beast Castle's credibility even further.
What do you think?
