Book 2: Chapter 115: The Starry Cosmos Blessing
Vol 2 Chapter 115: The Starry Cosmos Blessing
Under Bai Yuran’s guidance, Lin Jing arrived at Tianji Pavilion for the second time.
Inside the grand hall, Tian Huihua was already waiting. He had the air of a mystic fraudster, smiling as though lost in thought.
"Senior Brother." Bai Yuran greeted him with a slight bow before asking, "I’ve brought him. Where is Master?"
"Senior Tian." Lin Jing also bowed respectfully.
Tian Huihua smirked, "Master calculated that he and the Longevity Body are incompatible. It’s best if they don’t meet, so I’ll be the one taking him to see Senior Starry Cosmos Turtle."
"Huh?" Bai Yuran was momentarily stunned. "The Longevity Body clashes with Master?"
"Doesn’t seem like it. More likely, Master just doesn’t want to see Senior Starry Cosmos Turtle. After all, his heart isn’t too strong."
Bai Yuran nodded in understanding.
Lin Jing, on the other hand, was completely confused."Has Bai Junior Sister already explained the blessing process to you?" Tian Huihua asked, turning to Lin Jing.
"She explained it long ago. He wants to borrow the Power of the Future." Bai Yuran added, "With Senior Starry Cosmos Turtle’s abilities, that should be no problem, right?"
"We’ll find out once we ask."
"But before we go, Beast Taming Sect kid, no matter what you hear next, don’t take it to heart."
Tian Huihua waved his sleeve, and a surge of power enveloped them—Spatial Shift.
Before Lin Jing could even process what was happening, they had already arrived at the top floor of Tianji Pavilion.
—
The room was vast and empty, with only a single stone table in the center.
Atop the table sat a small black turtle, gazing up at the starry sky.
Its shell was embedded with countless colorful gems, resembling stars in a miniature night sky.
"Senior."
Upon seeing the turtle, Tian Huihua immediately covered his ears and said, "I’ve brought him. He’s the first-place winner of the Genius Battle."
"Longevity Body... what a shame you didn’t inherit any talent. Otherwise, you’d be far more suited to lead Tianji Pavilion than those old men."
Starry Cosmos Turtle slowly turned its head toward Lin Jing, making him pause in silence.
Lin Jing coughed lightly and said, "Greetings, Senior. I wish to borrow a Foundation Establishment contract power while still in Qi Refinement Stage, essentially forming a drop of Contract Blood ahead of time. Is this possible?"
"Easy."
Starry Cosmos Turtle replied nonchalantly, "A trivial matter. When it comes to Time and Space Dao, not even that Ancient Emperor brat can compare to me."
Lin Jing fell silent again before stepping forward and extending his hand.
The small turtle floated into the air and gently landed on Lin Jing’s palm.
In the next instant, a mysterious transformation occurred within Lin Jing’s body.
To his amazement, a third drop of golden Contract Blood condensed instantly inside him, yet his cultivation remained at Qi Refinement Stage.
It was as if the Contract Blood had appeared out of thin air—a truly mystical process.
"It’s done. Remember, this blood is something you were destined to condense in the future. You’ve simply borrowed it early. Once you reach Foundation Establishment, you won’t be able to acquire this drop again."
"Understood, Senior!"
With the blessing complete, Starry Cosmos Turtle turned back to the sky and muttered, "Now, let me continue my nap. I was dreaming that the Ancient Kingdom’s fortune is about to be depleted. I need to finish the dream to see what happens next."
Tian Huihua unplugged his ears and waved his hand. "All done? Then we’ll take our leave, Senior. Rest well."
—
Shortly after, Lin Jing reunited with Bai Yuran and the others.
"Senior Brother! Dragon Carp—did it succeed?"
"It worked," Tian Huihua confirmed. He then turned toward Dragon Carp and smirked.
"Bai Yuran’s younger self had quite a sharp tongue. I assume you heard everything she was saying?"
"Just some trivial gossip." Dragon Carp replied casually.
"Good, that’s a relief," Tian Huihua sighed in relief.
"Well, as long as it worked." Bai Yuran didn’t dwell on the mystery and instead turned to Lin Jing excitedly.
"So, Holy Son, what’s your next move?"
"As far as I know, you joined the Demon-Slaying Bureau, right? How about—"
"Hold on."
Lin Jing suddenly interrupted, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
"From what I’ve heard, Tianji Pavilion disciples undergo 50 years of astrology training and 30 years of fate-reading, for a total of 80 years of cultivation before they’re allowed to travel. Bai Yuran, you’ve only trained for 20 years, correct?"
"That means… you still have 60 years of closed-door cultivation ahead. And I’m also planning to retreat in the academy for a full cycle of 60 years. So let’s talk about cooperation… in six decades!"
Lin Jing smiled.
Bai Yuran froze on the spot.
"Are you kidding me?!"
She nearly coughed up blood.
The only reason she had sought out Lin Jing was to avoid 80 years of closed-door training by using his Longevity Body for faster cultivation.
And now, he was planning to shut himself away for 60 years too?!
Lin Jing hurriedly explained, "The further one progresses in cultivation, the harder it becomes. Bai Yuran, you can steadily advance with your current training. Wouldn’t it be wiser to seek my help only when you hit a bottleneck?"
"Besides, I’m still in Qi Refinement, and I plan to remain secluded in the academy. What dangers could possibly find me?"
"He’s right," Tian Huihua agreed.
"But… but…" Bai Yuran pointed at herself. "Sixty years later, I’ll be an old woman! I’m not a Longevity Body like you!"
"Nonsense," Tian Huihua chuckled.
"In 60 years, you’ll probably have reached Nascent Soul Stage. With a lifespan of over a thousand years, you’ll still be a child by cultivation standards."
Bai Yuran rolled her eyes. Since Lin Jing wasn’t interested in cooperating early, she had no choice.@@novelbin@@
"Fine. Once I finish my closed-door training, I’ll come find you in the academy. You’d better still be around by then!"
"Hehe, I promise." Lin Jing nodded.
"In that case, farewell for now. The academy elders have been secretly watching over you the whole time. They won’t feel at ease until you safely return."
Tian Huihua smiled.
Lin Jing nodded once more. He was just as eager to return to the academy’s safety.
But before that…
—
Leaving Tianji Pavilion, Lin Jing quickly returned to his inn and pulled Dragon Carp aside.
He condensed the Contract Blood and presented it to the beast.
Upon seeing it, Dragon Carp’s breath quickened.
"So fragrant!"
"Calm down," Lin Jing reassured. "I already told you—you are my third contract beast. No one else can take your place."
"But aren’t you still missing materials for a Mechanized Turtle?"
At that moment, Divine Pine suddenly materialized and muttered, "A Mechanized Turtle won’t keep you warm in the winter, though."
"That’s irrelevant."
Lin Jing pressed the Contract Blood onto Dragon Carp’s forehead.
In the next moment, a wave of warmth surged through his body.
Although his cultivation remained unchanged, the side effects of using the Ice Soul Gu—cold limbs—instantly disappeared.
"Not bad."
Just as Lin Jing was marveling at the effectiveness of contracting a fire-attribute beast, Dragon Carp suddenly froze, its eyes flashing as if recalling something.
Its thoughts drifted back to the waterfall in Beast Taming Sect, where it had once meditated beneath the pool.
An infinite starlight illuminated the water’s surface, cascading down onto its body.
BOOM!
A sudden change erupted within Dragon Carp’s body.
Not only had its bond with Lin Jing deepened…
Something else was happening.
"Wait… what’s going on?"
Even Divine Pine widened its eyes in shock.
What do you think?
