Book 3: Chapter 19: Sacred Fire Lotus
Vol 3 Chapter 19: Sacred Fire Lotus
Tianqing Commercial Street.
A blue-robed youth at the early Foundation Establishment stage stood at a corner, staring at the newly opened pill pavilion with a sign that read “Nameless,” his face filled with doubt.
“Father, you mean here?”
“This new pill pavilion is in such a remote spot with little foot traffic. It doesn’t seem like a place that would have anything good.”
“What do you know? In my prime, your old man was a fifth-grade alchemist and a Nascent Soul powerhouse. Even though I’m now just a lingering remnant soul, my past experience tells me this pavilion must have some very special pills.”
“If my guess is right, this pill… will be of great use to you. But you’ll have to go in and see for yourself.”
The blue-robed youth stood at the street corner. No one was around him—he was conversing with the remnant soul within his body.
“I understand.”
Hearing his father speak so confidently, the youth nodded and stepped into the Nameless Pill Pavilion.Once inside, he found the shop’s setup to be quite simple, and the owner didn’t look like an experienced alchemist at all. Instead, he was just a young man lounging on a rocking chair, casually flipping through a book.
His cultivation wasn’t much higher than the youth’s.
That young man was Lin Jing.
Lin Jing glanced at his first customer with a flicker of surprise but quickly returned to his book, showing no intention of greeting him.@@novelbin@@
What he was reading wasn’t some miscellaneous novel, but a book titled Records of Qingzhou, detailing various aspects of the region. Back in the Ancient Kingdom, he had read many books, but most of them were about that land. Now that he was in a new place, he naturally needed to catch up on local knowledge—power distributions, forbidden zones, rare plants, and spirit beasts…
“Go there.”
Following the remnant soul’s instructions, the blue-robed youth walked directly to where the Gluttonous Pill was stored.
Seeing the description of the golden pill, his pupils contracted, and the remnant soul inside him stirred.
“As expected! It’s a pill that aids in absorbing spiritual treasures!”
“How strange—I’ve never seen a pill like this before. Its grade isn’t high, yet its efficacy seems extraordinary… Among digestion-aiding pills, the highest quality available on the market is the third-grade Transformation Essence Pill, but this golden pill feels even superior to that!”
“The most crucial point is that the Transformation Essence Pill requires at least a perfected Foundation Establishment cultivation to consume without issues. But this pill… its medicinal power is incredibly mild. Even Qi Refinement cultivators could take it without any burden…”
“What a waste. Such a precious pill, yet this pavilion just leaves it out so casually without proper preservation. Its medicinal properties are probably leaking away… But if they weren’t, I wouldn’t have discovered this Gluttonous Pill.”
The blue-robed youth’s expression shifted.
“Father, can this thing… help me digest the inheritance you left behind?”
“Mm. One alone won’t be enough, but if you acquire a large number of them, you’ll be able to quickly absorb the treasures I left you instead of waiting until you reach Core Formation.”
The remnant soul continued, “If you do, you’ll definitely have a chance to compete for that spot!”
“But this Gluttonous Pill… it’s not for sale. It can only be exchanged for an Exotic Flame.”
The youth hesitated.
They didn’t have anything like that.
“In my treasure hoard, there is a Sacred Fire Lotus. If you consume it, there’s a chance you might refine an Emerging Lotus Heart Flame… However, the Sacred Fire Lotus is a fourth-rank spiritual item, and due to its extreme rarity, it’s worth even more than an ordinary fifth-rank spiritual item! I’m afraid that if you use such a treasure for this transaction, you’ll invite trouble.” ℞Aɴô𝖇Εș
As father and son conversed, Lin Jing, still reclining in his chair, suddenly closed his book and said,
“Sacred Fire Lotus… Emerging Lotus Heart Flame… but that’s just a regular flame with no healing properties, right?”
Lin Jing’s simple inquiry made the blue-robed youth freeze in place, his face stiffening as he looked up in shock.
At the same time, the remnant soul within him abruptly stopped their telepathic conversation, staring in disbelief at the young shop owner, who was merely at the mid Foundation Establishment stage.
Both of them were stunned—how could someone at Lin Jing’s level possibly hear their soul-to-soul communication?
“No need to be alarmed. I mean no harm. I just have a sharp perception when it comes to souls—I wasn’t intentionally eavesdropping.” Lin Jing chuckled.
With his Contract Blood ability and the Ice Soul Gu, souls like the one hiding in the youth’s body couldn’t escape his detection. If he wanted to, he could even extract and freeze it with ease.
“Young friend, your talent is remarkable—you actually noticed my existence.”
After a moment, the remnant soul inside the youth no longer hid, slowly manifesting into a spectral form. “Even most Nascent Soul cultivators wouldn’t detect me, yet today, a mere Foundation Establishment youth managed to.”
“I not only know you’re hiding inside him,” Lin Jing said calmly, “I also know why you ended up in this state.”
“If I’m not mistaken, it was the Netherworld Hall, wasn’t it? I can see traces of Netherworld Ghostfire burns on your soul…”
“You were severely injured by a demonic cultivator from the Netherworld Hall, but because of your special soul-related physique, you barely survived… Your soul cultivation is exceptionally high, which is why you felt safe hiding inside him.”
Lin Jing continued, “And after becoming like this, it seems you had no other trusted people to look after your child. Though you left him plenty of treasures, his current cultivation isn’t enough to fully absorb them. That’s why you set your sights on the Gluttonous Pill. Did I get anything wrong?”
The remnant soul was stunned, then asked in shock, “May I ask how to address you…?”
“That’s not important. I’m just a nameless wandering alchemist. I have no interest in your feud with the Netherworld Hall. I’m only here fulfilling my master’s orders and training for a while.”
“If you’re interested in the Gluttonous Pill, feel free to trade that Sacred Fire Lotus for it. I won’t leak your affairs.” Lin Jing said casually.
The remnant soul let out a bitter laugh. “Then I must thank you, young friend. Your deductions are correct. If we exchange the Sacred Fire Lotus for the Gluttonous Pill, how many pills would you be willing to offer?”
Lin Jing rubbed his chin and said, “First, bring me the Sacred Fire Lotus. I’ll need to examine its quality.”
The blue-robed youth cupped his hands slightly and then, together with the remnant soul, left the pill pavilion.
Outside, the youth wiped cold sweat from his forehead. “Father, could he be from the Netherworld Hall? Only someone from there would be so knowledgeable about souls and Netherworld Ghostfire…”
The remnant soul sighed, “No, he’s likely just an alchemist interested in soul-related flames. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have made such a trade offer. Your father possesses the Soul-Extinguishing Physique. If he trained under a powerful alchemist, it wouldn’t be impossible for him to recognize it.”
“No matter what, this is someone we can’t afford to provoke.”
“For now, we can only trust that he means no harm.”
“When we get the Gluttonous Pill, you must immediately absorb the treasures I left you. Use those high-tier items to unlock your potential and enter Tongtian Tower. Your family is not a place for you to stay long-term. Hah… your so-called ‘relatives’… if you remain, they will strip you clean sooner or later.”
“Let’s go. I’ll guide you to retrieve the treasure. Be careful, let me possess you—we must not let anyone know I left behind more wealth.”
“An auspicious start…”
After the father and son left, Lin Jing muttered to himself.
The Emerging Lotus Heart Flame—a healing-type Exotic Flame.
For his future Fire Qilin Dragon, which would serve as his armor and take hits for him, it would be extremely useful!
What do you think?
