Vol 3 Chapter 28: The Plan to Transform Demons

Tianqing City, Commercial Street, Nameless Pill Pavilion.

After encountering the Fire Qilin Dragon, Ouyang Hao was invited here.

Walking through the entrance, he looked at the unfamiliar young man who had been waiting for him and probed, “A sliver of hope?”

“A kind-hearted female cultivator.” Lin Jing replied.

“The code is correct, it’s you!” Ouyang Hao’s eyes welled up with tears.

Lin Jing smiled slightly. “Senior Brother, please.”

Ouyang Hao took a deep breath. “So you really are in Qingzhou. I heard the academy was ambushed by the Yin Household Sect, and the students scattered everywhere. Not long after that, your wanted notice appeared in Qingzhou—it was the work of the Yin Household Sect. Because of that, most people in the sect assumed you had fled here.”

“We’ve been searching for you all over, and some unexpected things happened along the way. I never thought I’d run into you here!”

“You already know?” Ouyang Hao exhaled sharply. “That’s right. This sect, to claim the Yin Household Sect’s bounty, captured Beast Taming Sect cultivators and tortured them for information about you. But thankfully, our Senior Sister mixed her way into becoming the Holy Maiden of the Demon Court. She ordered her protector to take action and wiped out the Luosha Sect!”

“After that battle, no one dared to make a move against the Beast Taming Sect anymore. Have you noticed? Even the number of cultivators hunting you has decreased!”

Lin Jing pondered. He hadn’t noticed at all—thanks to his illusion techniques, he had yet to encounter anyone searching for him.

“Junior Brother, come back with me. At least with Senior Sister around, you’ll be safer.” Ouyang Hao suggested.

“No rush.” Lin Jing shook his head.

“How much do you know about the Demon Court? If they discover my physique, do you think falling into the hands of the Yin Household Sect would be any different from falling into the hands of the Demon Court?”

Ouyang Hao froze. “This... that shouldn’t happen, right? Senior Sister holds a pretty high position in the Demon Court, and she’s a good person...”

“Better not take the gamble.” Lin Jing interjected. “Besides, I still have other things to do.”

“What about you, Senior Brother Ouyang? What brings you near Tianqing City?”

“The Demon Court’s base and the Beast Taming Sect’s foothold shouldn’t be anywhere near Qingming Path, should they?”@@novelbin@@

Ouyang Hao sighed. “One reason is to find you. Right now, most of the Beast Taming Sect’s cultivators have scattered to search for any trace of you.”

“The second reason is that I’m handling something for Senior Sister.”

“Handling something for Senior Sister?” Lin Jing stroked his chin. “What kind of task?”

“Recruiting... alchemic retainers...” Ouyang Hao glanced at the room’s furnishings, his expression turning strange.

“Recruiting alchemic retainers?” Lin Jing was surprised. “For what?”

Ouyang Hao explained, “Since you know about the Demon Court, you should also know its purpose—to restore the demon race to the world.”

“Within the Demon Court, three Holy Maidens with half-demon bloodlines are the primary executors of this goal.”

“They have access to vast Demon Court resources to implement their plans, all aimed at reviving the demon race.”

Each of the three Holy Maidens has a different approach to reviving the demon race. The First Holy Maiden believes in reproduction. Although half-demons cannot reproduce with demonic beasts, they still have a small chance of producing demon-blooded offspring with humans... Ｒã₦оꞖЁṨ

“She hopes that by birthing more and more children with demonic bloodlines, she can unravel the mysteries of the demon race’s bloodline.”

“That’s why the Demon Court’s Demon Kings and Demon Emperors have captured many talented human geniuses for her—to breed demon-blooded offspring.” Ouyang Hao shuddered. “Thankfully, Senior Sister is protecting me, or I’d have been harvested too.”

“The Second Holy Maiden, on the other hand, is much more reasonable. She’s a genius in her own right and advocates reviving the demon race through innovative cultivation techniques. Over the years, she has created more than ten cultivation methods that allow demonic beasts to cultivate.”

“Although she has yet to develop a technique that enables demonic beasts to take human form, her supporters and followers are the most numerous among the three Holy Maidens.”

“As for our Senior Sister, she is the Third Holy Maiden of the Demon Court.”

Lin Jing, understanding now, asked, “So Senior Sister’s plan is to revive the demon race through alchemy?”

Ouyang Hao nodded. “It’s said that in ancient times, there were only two ways for a demonic beast to take human form and become a member of the demon race.”

“One was through cultivation—changing their bloodline to take on human form.”

“The other was consuming a third-tier spiritual plant called Shapeshifting Grass, also known as Humanizing Grass or Demonizing Grass.”

“However, due to changes in the world’s rules, demonic beasts can no longer cultivate to take human form, and Shapeshifting Grass has lost its original effect. When eaten, it has no reaction at all.”

“So, Senior Sister’s strategy is this—if Shapeshifting Grass can no longer directly help demonic beasts transform, then what if it’s refined into a pill? If turned into a Shapeshifting Pill, could its effects be reactivated?”

“To this end, she gathered many alchemists, provided her own half-demon blood, and an immense amount of Shapeshifting Grass for research into the Shapeshifting Pill. Unfortunately, the Demon Court, being primarily a demonic beast faction, has too few alchemists. The ones they do have aren’t skilled enough to develop the pill, and so far, there’s been little progress.”

“But finding alchemists of the caliber needed—those with both talent and potential, like the ones in Tongtian Tower—is nearly impossible. That’s why the Beast Taming Sect has scattered everywhere. Aside from searching for you, their other goal is to find young alchemists with talent and potential, bring them back to the Demon Court, and have them join the research into the Shapeshifting Pill...”

“As human cultivators, Beast Taming Sect disciples can move through human cities far more easily than demonic beasts.”

After Ouyang Hao finished, Lin Jing nodded. “No wonder...”

“Senior Brother, you still want Hong’er to take human form, don’t you?” He asked the person who had once saved him from the hands of the Demonic Sect.

“Of course!” Ouyang Hao said, puzzled. “Why are you asking this?”

After some thought, Lin Jing said, “Let me help you. I happen to have some skill in alchemy, and since Senior Sister is recruiting alchemists, well, I’m one.”

“But I won’t be going to the Demon Court with you.”

“Can you secretly bring me Senior Sister’s half-demon blood and some Shapeshifting Grass?”

“Huh??” Ouyang Hao was stunned.

“You?”

Lin Jing rolled his eyes. “If you’ve done a thorough investigation on me, you should know that back in the Ancient Kingdom, I refined top-tier pills like the Rising Dragon Pill.”

“Just tell them you found a genius alchemist willing to research the Shapeshifting Pill, but he refuses to go to the Demon Court. As long as you don’t expose my identity to the Demon Court’s higher-ups, it should be fine, right? With your status as the sect leader’s disciple and Senior Sister being the Demon Court’s Holy Maiden, this should be a small matter for you.”

“That makes sense, but just saying it isn’t enough proof, I...”

Lin Jing interrupted, “It won’t just be words—I’ll give you a few pills to bring back, proof of my alchemic skill.”
