Book 3: Chapter 44: Two Great Forms

Vol 3 Chapter 44: Two Great Forms

“What the hll kind of big news is this?”

Xu Qingyao shot an exasperated look at Lin Jing.

Did this guy even understand his own situation? And he still wanted to make big news?

Wasn’t he being extra cautious before? He didn’t even dare to show up at the Demon Court. What the hll changed?

“It’s like this.” Lin Jing explained, “I study alchemy and usually rely on the Hidden Dragon Academy’s Hidden Dragon Secret Arts to deduce formulas. But since I haven’t revealed my true identity for too long, my Hidden Dragon Fortune has almost run out. Now, if I want to research the Transformation Pill, I have to make the name ‘Lin Jing’ spread widely across Qingzhou again.”

“I’ve created two clones to move around Qingzhou in my place, so safety shouldn’t be an issue.”

As he finished speaking, Lin Jing, dressed in his Firecloud Alchemist Robes, summoned two clones—one resembling himself and the other a Pine Leaf Mouse.

The first clone wore a pristine white robe, with a gourd hanging from his waist, looking incredibly handsome—exactly how he had appeared during the Genius Rankings Battle.

The Pine Leaf Mouse clone was identical to its true form, both of them matching the wanted posters circulating in Qingzhou perfectly.

“This…” Xu Qingyao looked at the two clones, a little stunned. She couldn’t tell they were clones at all. More than that, she could sense immense power radiating from them—enough to rival an average Core Formation cultivator without any issue.

“Illusions? But the texture feels…” She reached out to touch the Pine Leaf Mouse clone.

“They’re created using Thousand Illusions Mountain’s Soul Infusion Art and Inverse Void Art, enhanced by the Chameleon Demon Core’s illusion ability. So, for a certain period, these clones can fight just as well as we can. Their only drawback is endurance—they can’t sustain long battles. If they take too much damage, they’ll dissipate quickly.”

“I see… Since they’re just clones, there’s no problem. And they’re such flawless illusionary clones at that.” Xu Qingyao relaxed, agreeing with Lin Jing’s plan to send them out to stir things up. After all, this was a necessary step in researching the Transformation Pill. She thought for a moment and said, “Speaking of major events in Qingzhou…”

She pondered before continuing, “What exactly do you plan to do? There are plenty of grand occasions happening. For example, the wedding of the Piao Miao Dao’s celestial maiden from the Misty Immortal Clan. You’re not planning to crash the wedding, are you?”

“Uh… That’d be way too messed up. I’ll pass on that kind of event.” Lin Jing thought for a moment. “Regular incidents won’t generate enough attention. I want something bigger… a one-and-done kind of deal.”

“The Longevity Body—I’m going to reveal my Longevity Body.”

“Huh???” Xu Qingyao froze. “Are you serious? You’re not hiding it anymore?”

Lin Jing nodded. “At this point, I don’t care anymore. The secret’s not going to stay hidden forever. The Ancient Celestial Kingdom, the Yin Corpse Sect… too many people already know about my Longevity Body. It’s only a matter of time before it gets exposed. So instead of waiting, I might as well take the initiative, use it to gain fame and fortune, and strengthen myself ahead of time.”

“With my current situation, even if my identity is exposed, my true self won’t be in any real danger.”

“How do you plan to do it?”

“I’ll publicly announce my Longevity Body and use it as bait to strike back against the two major demonic sects.” Lin Jing smirked. “Since the Yin Corpse Sect can put a bounty on me, I can put a bounty on them too.”

“I’ll offer Longevity Blood as a reward to Qingzhou’s various demonic beast factions—anyone who kills a Yin Corpse Sect or Gu God Sect powerhouse will receive a drop of Longevity Blood. Ten years from now, I’ll distribute the rewards at a designated location.”

“Obviously, this bounty is full of loopholes. No one will actually believe I’ll keep my word or appear in public. But that doesn’t matter. The point is to make waves. A Foundation Establishment cultivator with a Longevity Body placing a bounty on two demonic sects—that’s the kind of thing that’ll spread like wildfire in Qingzhou. Not just among the human factions, but among the demonic beast factions as well. What do you think, Senior Sister?”

Xu Qingyao was stunned. “…As expected of a student from Hidden Dragon Academy. Ruthless.”

Suddenly, she thought of something and spoke up, “If he’s really decided on this, then an event hosted by demonic beasts would be a better fit than one hosted by humans.”

“Does he know about the Sky Lion Clan?”

“The Sky Lion Clan…” The Dragon Carp muttered, “The clan that raises Longevity Body cultivators?”

“Exactly. The Sky Lion Clan holds a grand ancestral worship ceremony every ten years. A major one every century, a minor one every decade. During the festival, they invite various clans to partake in Longevity delicacies.”

“If he insists on going through with this, then the Sky Lion Clan’s centennial ceremony would be the perfect occasion. The timing is just right—it’s less than a year away. The factions that attend will mostly be those interested in Longevity Blood and Flesh, including demonic beast clans and cultivation families that practice beast-blood techniques.”

“If he shows up there, he’s bound to make a name for himself in Qingzhou.”

Lin Jing pondered for a moment. It did seem like a good idea. He asked, “Will the Demon Court send strong representatives?”

“No.” Xu Qingyao shook her head. “The Demon Court and the Sky Lion Clan don’t get along. They walk different paths.”

“Oh…” Lin Jing nodded. The Sky Lion Clan… one of Qingzhou’s top-tier demonic beast clans.

The three greatest demonic beast forces near Qingzhou—Poseidon Palace, the Demon Court, and the Misty Empire—weren’t actually comprised of a single species. They were alliances of various demonic beast races, united under the leadership of a Demon Emperor. But outside of these three, there were independent demonic beast clans that stood on their own.

The Sky Lion Clan was one of them. And the Sky Lion Ancestor was considered the strongest beast ancestor beneath the three Demon Emperors.

“Alright, the Sky Lion Clan it is…” Lin Jing’s eyes gleamed with anticipation. He was curious—just how much would his Hidden Dragon Fortune increase after pulling off such a massive stunt?

At that moment, a familiar cry rang out nearby.

After absorbing the inheritance memories of the Divine Dragon Transformation, the Fire Qilin Dragon had reverted to its Dragon Carp form and was now swimming in confused circles.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Jing blinked and looked over.

“The Divine Dragon Transformation is extremely difficult to cultivate. Even reaching the entry-level is no easy feat. It must’ve run into trouble,” Xu Qingyao commented.

“Bo!!” The Dragon Carp’s big eyes widened as it explained its difficulties.

After some time, it had successfully formed two distinct forms:

Its normal form, the Dragon Carp form.

The Dragon Carp had solidified its most primitive, baseline shape as its standard form.

Additionally, it had created an attack form: the Divine Dragon form.

Dragons were a unique type of demonic beast. While other demonic beasts formed monster cores, dragons formed Dragon Pearls, which possessed immense power and were highly effective for combat—especially since the Dragon Carp planned to cultivate an Emperor Flame Dragon Pearl. Naturally, the dragon form was its best offensive shape.

Tracing its bloodline further, the Dragon Carp identified two more potential forms: one for defense and one for speed.

Its defense form was the Qilin form. The Qilin, also known as the Strange-Scaled Beast, had incredibly tough scales and immense longevity, making it the perfect shield.

As for its speed form, the Dragon Carp traced back to an even more ancient ancestor—an unknown winged, horse-like beast. Though it didn’t recognize this ancestor, its bloodline instincts told it that this form would be the fastest!

However, while it could easily shape its Dragon and Divine Dragon forms, no matter how hard it tried, it couldn’t form the Qilin or Pegasus forms.

“The bloodlines are too ancient—too difficult to awaken. Unlike its dragon heritage, which it has surely reinforced by consuming plenty of dragon-based resources,” Senior Sister said. “There are two options: train slowly over time, or…”

“I can take you to the Qilin Clan.”

“…Did you hear that?” Xu Qingyao turned to Lin Jing. But Lin Jing was lost in thought, his mind racing.

“…Holy sh*t, so the White Dragon Horse was real? The Yinglong really gave birth to the Jianma, and the Jianma gave birth to the Qilin?!”
