Book 3: Chapter 58: Disciple of the Demon Ancestor
Vol 3 Chapter 58: Disciple of the Demon Ancestor
"Feels... pretty good." Lin Jing stretched lazily and smiled. "A solid foundation means I needed more spiritual energy to break through... Senior Sister, how long until the tea ceremony?"
"It's today," Xu Qingyao replied. "If you didn’t finish your cultivation soon, I was going to wake you up myself."
"Get ready. I've already brought Gu Qianqiu back to my palace. Let's wrap up this tea ceremony quickly. This Longevity Body girl is like a mute—she won’t talk to my avatar, nor will she tell me how much she looted. Clearly, she still doesn’t trust me enough. You might have to approach her yourself."
Lin Jing was stunned. "That’s understandable, right? After all, you took her to the Demon Court. This place sounds even scarier than the Sky Lion Clan. It’s natural she wouldn’t trust you. By the way, her name is Gu Qianqiu?"
Senior Sister smirked. "You didn’t ask her name? Then what did you call each other? Never mind that—has your big fat fish finished yet? Are you, a Beast Tamer, really going to fight without your pet?"
Sensing for a moment, Lin Jing was surprised to find that the Dragon Carp’s bloodline had reached an incredibly terrifying level. When it first evolved to an emperor-tier bloodline, it was barely hanging on—its innate talent was too weak, and all its strength lay in its rare beast abilities. But now, under the blessing of the Kirin Clan’s ancestor, its bloodline strength had nearly reached the pinnacle of the emperor-tier.
Strength, defense, mana, and vitality had all surged.
"It might take a few more days."
"How about I talk to the Kirin Clan’s chief and postpone the Holy Maiden Tea Ceremony for a bit? Given the situation, I’m sure they’ll understand." Xu Qingyao suggested."The Kirin Clan wouldn’t care, but the other two Holy Maidens might not agree. The tea ceremony’s date has been set, and if we postpone it unilaterally, we’ll be making an enemy for no good reason. They wouldn’t agree, since it concerns their own interests."
"What a hassle." Xu Qingyao sighed. But Lin Jing didn’t mind. "It’s fine. Just trust in my strength..."
"Of course I trust you. I was the one guarding you when you suppressed the Zhuyan Bloodline, so I could feel that power firsthand. But among the followers of the other two Holy Maidens, there are ‘Demon Ancestor Disciples.’ Their cultivation is at the peak of the Demon Core Stage—they’re no pushovers. You’re only at late Foundation Establishment. That’s an entire major realm of difference."
Lin Jing chuckled. "Senior Sister, you’re forgetting something important. Do you remember what power I used to suppress the Zhuyan Bloodline?"
His eyes flashed as he looked at Xu Qingyao. In that instant, she felt a familiar suppressive force pressing down on her demon bloodline. But with her cultivation at the peak of Nascent Soul and her human bloodline making up more than half, the suppression wasn’t too obvious.
For a Demon Core Stage cultivator, though—for a pure-blooded demon beast—it would be an entirely different story.
"A power derived from the Beast Taming Art," she murmured.
"I call it the Beast Taming Physique. It’s a power that was born when I broke through to the Extreme Stage of Qi Refinement. It effectively suppresses demon beast bloodlines. With this ability, as long as my opponent isn’t human but a demon beast, their strength won’t be fully unleashed. The gap between us isn’t as big as you think, Senior Sister."
"So that’s how it is." Xu Qingyao felt relieved, but then became frustrated. She had always been gifted—already at Foundation Establishment when she joined the Beast Taming Sect—so she never even considered reaching the Extreme Stage of Qi Refinement. If she had known that it could cause such a transformation in the Beast Taming Art, she would have never rushed her Foundation Establishment.
...
Not long after, Xu Qingyao summoned the entire Sparrowfeather Squad to attend the Holy Maiden Tea Ceremony. When Ouyang Hao and the others arrived, their gazes were still fixed in the direction of the ancestral land...
"This monster..."
They had, of course, noticed the commotion caused by the Dragon Carp. After all, the pet beast had received blessings from eighteen Kirin ancestors at the same time. Just how absurd was this Fire Dragon Alchemist?
"Wait, the Holy Maiden Tea Ceremony is today, isn’t it? Fire Dragon, your pet is still over there—how are you going to fight?" Senior Brother Ouyang asked. The other Sparrowfeather members were concerned too. This Fire Dragon Alchemist was strong, sure, but he practiced the Beast Taming Art—his full strength relied on his pet beast. If his strongest pet was still receiving blessings, how was he going to fight?
"That is a bit of a problem. But who said I only have one pet?" Lin Jing said casually. "Let’s go. Stop worrying about my affairs."
Everyone froze. Right. Who said he could only have one pet?
But in theory, shouldn’t a Beast Tamer focus on cultivating one strongest pet? Weren’t all other pets just auxiliary tools? Could it be that every single one of his pets was ridiculously strong?
Kirin Courtyard
The Eighth Holy Son, Xu Qingyao, and the leader of the Demon Subordinates were the first to arrive. The First Holy Son, Liu Yan, and the Seventh Holy Son, Shen Xi, had yet to show up. Aside from them, the courtyard was filled with many demon beasts and a significant number of Kirin Clan members.
Among them, the most eye-catching figures were a Dragon Turtle and a white-and-black patterned bear.
Both had cultivation at the peak of the Demon Core Stage, and their bloodline strength was terrifying—far beyond even most emperor-tier demon beasts. Most importantly, aside from their bloodline power, they also possessed other fearsome abilities within them.
"That Dragon Turtle and Iron-Eating Beast were taken as honorary disciples by Demon Ancestor-level monsters and received part of their inheritance. They’re extremely difficult to deal with. They’re the strongest generals under the First and Second Holy Maidens." Ouyang Hao whispered to Lin Jing.
As Lin Jing observed them, the gathered demon beasts were also watching him. After all, they had all witnessed the commotion caused by his pet beast in the ancestral land.
But now, they had the same question as the Sparrowfeather Squad.
His pet beast was still receiving blessings, meaning it obviously couldn’t fight in the tea ceremony. Yet why did the Third Holy Maiden look so unbothered? Why hadn’t she requested the Kirin Clan to change the date?
"Since all three Holy Maidens are present, let us now examine the progress each of you has made in the Demon Race Revival Plan over the past decade."
The host of the tea ceremony was the Kirin Clan’s chief, a dark-attribute Mutant Ink Kirin, who had reached the early Void Mystical Stage.
Seeing that everyone was seated, he slowly continued, "But before that, as per tradition, we shall start the tea ceremony with an entertainment segment. The Kirin Clan will present treasures as stakes for the tea ceremony."
"There are three supreme treasures. The competition will follow an arena format—three sides will compete, and the victor will stay while the loser is eliminated. The Holy Maiden whose follower stands on the arena at the end shall receive all three supreme treasures, which she may then bestow upon her most outstanding followers."
"Additionally, the results of this competition will be reported to the various clans of the Demon Court. This concerns the resources each Holy Maiden can request for her followers’ cultivation."
After speaking, the Kirin Clan’s chief presented three treasures.
"The first: a top-tier exotic flame, the Heavenly Thunder Flame Origin Fire—an exotic flame born from the heavens, imbued with the power of lightning."
"The second: a top-tier magical artifact, the Lin Bone Ring, which can summon a peak Demon Emperor-level Bone Kirin to fight on the user’s behalf."
"The third: the Thousand-Year Lifespan Fruit. Consuming it extends life by a thousand years. However, this fruit is extremely potent and cannot be consumed by those nearing the end of their lifespan. Only those in their prime with abundant vitality can absorb its energy."
What do you think?
