Today, she had observed the leading contestants from each school and assessed their overall strength. They were decent, but not so formidable that she found them impossible to handle.

It wasn't that their beasts lacked synergy, certainly not worse than what Yabao and Lubao had achieved in just two days of training, but most of them had teams composed of two mid-level beasts. Only a few had a combination of one high-level beast and one mid-level beast.

Given this situation, she was confident that Little Treasure and Gangbao could secure a victory in their match.

After all, with Little Treasure's abilities, he was practically made for team battles.

Even if the opposing team had a beast stronger than Little Gangbao, they could compensate for the gap through teamwork.

"Xun~"

Little Treasure paused his movements, raised his head, and called out in a relaxed manner, signaling that there was no problem.@@novelbin@@

He had been watching from the sidelines all day and didn’t think today’s competitors were stronger than Yabao or Lubao.

"Gang."

Gangbao, on the other hand, was momentarily stunned before nodding seriously with a determined expression.

She hadn’t expected her Beast Master to send her into battle. After watching today’s matches, she felt like everyone was stronger than herself…

For a moment, Gangbao felt a heavy burden on her shoulders.

She didn’t want to lose.

---

That night, just as Gangbao closed her eyes to sleep, she suddenly opened them again and got up. She walked over to Little Treasure, who was playing on his phone.

"Gang."

Gangbao nudged Little Treasure with her wing.

"Xun xun?"

Little Treasure turned his head with a puzzled expression.

"Gang gang."

"Gang."

Gangbao lowered her voice and asked if they should take advantage of the remaining time to train a bit more before the match tomorrow.

"Xun xun?!"

Little Treasure's eyes widened in shock.

What kind of terrifying idea was that?!

Nighttime was for sleeping!

"Gang."

Gangbao remained serious, she was just worried about the match.

Hearing this, Little Treasure let out a sigh of relief. So that’s what it was.

"Xun xun~"

He patted Gangbao on the shoulder with his paw, calling out in a big-brotherly tone to reassure her, there was no need to worry. With him around, they wouldn’t lose even without extra training. ʀ𝘈𐌽O͍฿ΕS

"Gang."

Gangbao used her wing to knock Little Treasure's paw off her shoulder.

She wasn’t convinced.

Little Treasure: …

---

At 7:30 in the morning, Qiao Sang, who had stayed up all night doing practice problems, suddenly heard a thud as something collapsed to the ground.

Turning her head, she saw that Little Treasure, who had snuck out in the middle of the night, was now lying face-down on the floor.

Qiao Sang was startled.

"What’s wrong with you?"

"Xun xun…"

Little Treasure struggled to lift his head, revealing a face that looked as though he had aged several years overnight.

The next second, he collapsed face-first onto the ground again.

"Gang gang."

At that moment, Gangbao flew in through the open window, sporting two large dark circles under her eyes. She chirped, explaining that it was nothing, just an all-night training session.

Qiao Sang: …

So there was really that much difference between staying up all night playing on your phone and staying up all night training…

Qiao Sang sighed, stood up, and bent down to pick up Little Treasure. She glanced at Lubao, who was already awake.

Before she could say anything, Lubao had already guessed her thoughts. Amused, she looked at Little Treasure, who seemed completely out of it.

Then, the white gemstone on Lubao’s forehead emitted a blue glow.

A few seconds later, the dark circles under Qiao Sang, Little Treasure's, and Gangbao's eyes disappeared.

"Xun xun!"

"Xun xun!"

Little Treasure, now fully restored, buried hi self in Qiao Sang’s arms, tearfully recounting his tragic night.

Too miserable!

Old Four wouldn’t let him rest at all!

He was a high-level beast, and she was just a low-level one. Even if he had refused, what could he do against Gangbao?!

Qiao Sang patted Little Treasure's head in comfort.

"You worked hard."

"Xun xun~"

Little Treasure teared up: It really was too much effort.

Qiao Sang then turned to Gangbao with a gentle look.

"Didn’t the breeder mention last time that you’re still under a year old? You need to get enough sleep. I let you participate because I trust in your synergy and strength."

"Of course, I’m glad you take the competition seriously. But next time, make sure you get enough rest first. You’re still too young."

Last night, Little Treasure and Gangbao had informed her before heading out to train, even asking her to suggest a location, the 15th-floor training area in the hotel, reserved for guests.

She had assumed they’d train for an hour or so and then return, but they had gone all the way until morning.

"Gang."

Gangbao recalled what the breeder had said last time and nodded.

She had almost forgotten about that.

Sahel Academy.

Pet Beast Battle Arena.

The audience was noisy, with people constantly switching seats to chat with their newfound friends. Compared to yesterday, they were all much more familiar with each other.

Gerta and Pelleg also got up to change seats.

Even though the seating was chaotic, everyone still wore their respective school uniforms, making it easy to recognize who was from where.

A male student wearing a Sahel uniform and a black newsboy cap sat down in front of Qiao Sang.

Alva glanced at him several times before suddenly recognizing him. She leaned forward and patted his shoulder with a smile.

"Thompson, this is the first time I’ve seen you wear a hat."

Cyril Thompson?

Qiao Sang silently glanced at him.

Thompson turned his head and met Qiao Sang’s gaze. His calm expression instantly stiffened. Without a word, he stood up and walked away.

"What’s up with him?" Alva was baffled.

Beside her, Hulis glanced at Qiao Sang with a complicated expression.

He had a strong feeling that Thompson’s reaction had something to do with her.

---

Meanwhile, Thompson returned to his original seat.

"Why are you back? Didn’t we agree to switch seats? My friend is coming soon." Said a red-haired boy with freckles.

"I changed my mind." Thompson replied coldly.

The red-haired boy frowned but said nothing, turning to discuss the seat switch with someone else.

"You’re back already?" The student on Thompson’s right, Radko, asked.

"Something wrong?"

Thompson was silent for two seconds before replying in a low voice.

"Qiao Sang is sitting right behind that spot."

Radko instinctively glanced at the newsboy cap on Thompson’s head.

Retracting his gaze, he said nothing more.

Yesterday, Thompson had felt increasingly uneasy. He had contracted the Venomous Hawk for a long time, yet this was the first time something like this had happened.

The more he thought about it, the more he suspected it had something to do with that ghost-type beast with glowing purple eyes.

Even though he didn’t have much experience with ghost-type beasts, he still knew the basics. After thinking it through, he realized he had likely been hit with a curse-type debuff skill.

No wonder Qiao Sang had simply said a few words before leaving.

The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became. Now, he just wanted to stay far away from Qiao Sang.

As Thompson’s friend, Radko knew the whole story and understood his thoughts.

He cast a deep glance toward Qiao Sang’s seat.

A ghost-type beast with a cursing ability… Would it be appearing in the matches?

---

At the same time, Alva, who had been watching Thompson switch seats, noticed the person next to him turning to look over.

She immediately introduced him to Qiao Sang.

"See that guy next to Thompson? That’s Radko. He’s one of our school’s competitors in this friendship match."

Qiao Sang followed her gaze and casually asked, "What kind of beast does he have?"
