Chapter 647: Chapter 182 Recruitment_3
Now that Jasmine was absent due to something urgent, Link had to step in.
“Do you even remember our branch exists?”
Sandra wasn’t going to be silenced by Link so easily; she was going to make her complaints regardless. “I thought you’d completely forgotten about us? Or perhaps you never really cared about our branch?”
“What? Not at all!”
Link chuckled uncomfortably and explained, “It’s just that I’ve been quite busy recently and could not split my attention.”
“Really?”
Exasperation was evident in Sandra’s tone as she sneered, “I don’t care about the past, but what about these past three days? You had time to visit the Fairy World daily but didn’t have time to visit our branch once? While Jasmine, despite being engrossed in her laboratory, still managed to visit us a few times. And you? Not a single word of concern.”
Really, there was nothing much Link could do about his shortcomings.
He could only stay silent and listen attentively.
The atmosphere of the video conference had become slightly stiff right from the start.
There was an urgent need for someone to break the ice.
But Lanny never interrupts Sandra when she is speaking or doing something, let alone interfere.
Especially after she got promoted to a Second Level Wizard and started her advanced wizard studies.
She devoted her mind totally to improving herself.
A fifth-grade wizard qualification was not a false claim, and recently, Lanny was making progress rapidly.
Seeing this, Tiffany immediately seized the opportunity to raise her profile and smoothly introduced herself into the conversation between Link and Sandra, successfully deviating the topic. “Our branch’s recruitment is completed today. There will be a gathering for all members in a few days. Link, you must attend.”
Speaking of which, Tiffany curiously asked, “By the way, where’s Jasmine? Why isn’t she here today?”
Jasmine Kidman is the ‘Do Whatever You Like’ president, the highest leader in appearance.
This video conference was actually Jasmine’s arrangement to let Link understand the progress of the branch’s work and also let Sandra, Lanny, and Tiffany communicate more with Link.
Even if she stayed behind the scenes, she needed to maintain her presence in front of key members.
Otherwise, she would easily be completely sidelined.
Link wasn’t worried about this, it was Jasmine who needed to fuss over these matters.
“She had some urgent matters to attend to, the meeting will be presided over by me today. Any issues should be addressed to me first, and I’ll relay the conference’s content to her.”@@novelbin@@
Link slightly explained, then responded to Tiffany’s earlier statement, “Regarding the all member meeting, I’ll certainly attend unless there’s anything unexpected.”
“Good.”
Tiffany nodded and said no more.
Showing presence should be done in moderation and shouldn’t be overdone.
The protagonist of this video conference, it was clearly not her, so there was no need for too much exposure.
With Tiffany diverging from the topic, Sandra stopped her sardonic comments towards Link and answered Link’s previous question, saying:
“As Tiffany just mentioned, the recruitment has ended.
Adhering to the standard you provided, we received a total of 20 new members after rigorous selection.
Among them, there are 5 advanced wizards, mostly drawn by your reputation; and 15 offspring from the main families, most of whom came due to myself and Gerald.
I believe the focus of the branch’s work in the next stage is to cultivate these new member’s sense of belonging to ‘Do Whatever You Like’.
Speaking of which, I suggest it’s time for a comprehensive member welfare system.”
With this, Sandra’s eyes fixed on the camera, with a sharp gaze that seemed to pierce through the screen, emphasizing, “With responsibilities, there should be benefits. This point is crucial and I hope you will take it seriously.”
After hearing Sandra’s remarks, Link contemplated for a moment, then said, “Regarding the member welfare system, let’s hold an interim committee meeting tomorrow. You should present your specific plans on this issue, and we can discuss them together.”
The decision-making level of ‘Do Whatever You Like’ is a 7-person committee.
So far, there are 4 members, namely Link, Jasmine, Sandra, and Assad.
Three seats are still vacant, to be filled later. It’s better to lack than to have an unworthy member.
“Okay.”
Sandra didn’t object.
If there’s a system, it must be followed.
Unless the system is unreasonable or affects the development of the organization, only then can exceptions be made.
She proposed the need to improve the member welfare system of ‘Do Whatever You Like’, and was prepared to make related preparations.
“Any more matters to address?”
After addressing one issue, Link continued to ask.
Sandra glanced at Lanny and Tiffany, “I don’t have any more, how about you? It’s a meeting. Feel free to speak.”
“Yes!”
Tiffany immediately responded, without any hint of self-deprecation because she was still a First Level Wizard. She appeared neither humble nor arrogant, simply generous.
“Go on.”
Link turned towards Tiffany’s direction, signaling that he was listening attentively.
“I’ve recently sorted out the financial records of our organization and noticed a problem.”
Tiffany was serious as she pronounced solemnly, “Before, ‘Do Whatever You Like’ could run on your personal funds. But now, I believe there must be a line drawn. Personal belongings to the individual, organizational belongings to the organization. It’s better to establish an industry for ‘Do Whatever You Like’, striving for financial self-sufficiency. Only in dire situations should we rely on members’ donations.”
“That’s a great suggestion.”
Link nodded, pondered for a moment, then said, “Tiffany, write a report as soon as possible. Input your suggestions, reasons, solutions, and ideas. Sandra will bring it up at tomorrow’s committee meeting for discussion.”
What do you think?
