Chapter 679: Chapter 192 The Fight Between the Snipe and the Clam_1
Link’s eyelid twitched.
Since they arrived in the Sniper Star Field, his spirit surged to its maximum level and he sensed an intense foreboding of danger.
The sense of danger was very distinct, and extremely intense.
If they did not pay attention to it, it could very well pose a threat to their lives.
“Is it you?”
Link looked up before shaking his head and focusing his gaze on the team from the Great Sage Tower, rushing towards their warship at high speed, as he muttered to himself.
In this star field, there were certainly entities that could pose a threat to his life, and not just a few of them.
For instance, Sage Fletcher Domingo or the Level 5 sages sent by other Wizard Organizations.
However, according to the regulations of the Supreme Council, these Level 5 sages could not possibly attack Link.
So, the source of the danger and threat was quite clear.
The team from The Tower of the Great Sage Mitchell!
“Is this a specific threat to me, a preparation of some sort?”
Link well understood that after he had demonstrated his superior combat strength, he would definitely become a target.
Attracting research, analysis, and countermeasures from other wizard organizations was quite normal.
During this Saint Inheritance scramble, Link had already mentally prepared for this.
Otherwise, based on the principle of equivalent scale set by the Supreme Council, Link could have stormed through just basing on his superior combat ability, without the need for elaborate strategies.
“Franda, we need to be extra careful.”
Link thought solemnly.
“Don’t worry, Sir, Franda will guard you.”
Franda’s sweet voice brought a sense of comfort to Link.
“Good, then I entrust my safety to Franda.”
Link replied, smiling.
“Sir, you can be rest assured.”
Franda earnestly promised.
“Hm.”
Link acknowledged and quickly changed the topic, “Franda, can you check whether our warship has reached the predetermined coordinates?”
“Sure, Sir.”
Before he even finished speaking, Franda had already disappeared from his side.
Just traveling at sub-light speed, after the fourth evolution of the “Small World” was completely finished, Franda had already mastered it.
Well…
This “World Master,” this “Sir” Link, was rather lacking in this aspect of the absolute speed of flight.
If he had not gained some understanding of the rules of the Gravitation Field from Dean Frist, and studied and referenced a four-ring witchcraft related to gravity/repulsion, which gave him a new comprehension of space and space hopping, his speed in navigating the stars would be even slower.
“Gather at these coordinates and board.”
After Franda had scouted ahead, Link then used the second ring spell “Quantum Encrypted Communication” to inform the five members of his team.
“Received.”
“Received.”
“…”
The team members who had watched Link single-handedly break through the Raging Gold Trading Company Warship’s defense replied decidedly.
There was a hint of respect and admiration in their tone.
Link didn’t respond to that, he didn’t leave the meteoroid belt either, he just continued to lie low.
In fact, from the moment the Shadow City Outlander Colonization Team’s warship appeared, to when the ten wizards of the Great Sage Mitchell’s tower turned back, to the moment when Link shattered the Raging Gold warship’s defense and the will of the 12 wizards, not much time had passed really.
It was less than ten minutes in total.
The Shadow City Outlander Colonization Team realized that their warship was stuck in the “invisible interstellar landmine” array laid out by Great Sage’s tower team, they could only move forward or fall back, they tried for about five minutes.
“Captain, what should we do?”
The discussion and questioning started in the Shadow City Team after figuring out the existence of the “landmine” array with the cost of a short-term drop in the defense field’s strength on both sides of the warship.
“Advance! We fight unto death!”
The reply of the Captain of Shadow City was very short, his attitude firm, and tone, decisive.
“But…”
The team member who questioned originally wanted to bring out the instructions of the Supreme Council, implying they didn’t need to be so desperate.
But before he finished speaking, he was stopped by the captain.
“No buts.”
All that could be heard was the icy voice of the Shadow City’s Captain, “The moment we accepted this mission, set out to colonize that planet, and collect resources, this battle had become inevitable. Other Wizards’ Organizations can use various means to shirk, but we cannot, understood?”
“Unde…rstood.”
The team member wanted to say he didn’t understand.
However, under the oppressive gaze of the captain’s bloodshot eyes, the words that came out of his mouth not quite what he had originally intended.
“Do you all understand?”
The captain of Shadow City rose from his seat, surveying the rest of the team. His eyes lingered especially on Christina, who was shrunken in a corner, she had been silent throughout this mission, sternly questioning.
“Understood.”
What responded to the captain, were sporadic, disjointed voices.
This was quite telling, that the wizards of the Shadow City Outlander Colonization Team knew that this battle was inevitable but didn’t understand why they couldn’t shirk it.
What’s the big deal about defending the Saint’s inheritance?
If they can’t defend it, they can’t defend it.
Why must they fight to the death?
The captain of Shadow City sighed. It was just human nature to question. Their morale was rather low.
Half of the battle was lost by Shadow City before it even began.
After a moment’s sigh, the captain issued instructions, emphasizing, “We will use stillness to combat motion, play defense, and counterattack. Once the enemy’s attack momentum wanes, we shall abandon our ship according to the plan and charge into close combat. Is this clear?”
What do you think?
