Chapter 58: Different Wei Long

Meanwhile, back in another part of the sanctuary, the elder of the Autumn Dragon Sect and the other members were surrounding a group of demonic path cultivators.

The air was heavy with tension, a mix of righteous fury and the vile aura of those who had strayed too deep into the demonic path was in the air.

Meanwhile, the disciples of the Autumn Dragon Sect, clad in their traditional robes, stood in a semi-circle, their weapons drawn, eyes burning with questions and vengeance.

One disciple stepped forward, his voice sharp and laced with anger.

"Where are the in-name disciples you took? What did you do to the sanctuary?"

His blade glowed faintly, shimmering with spiritual energy, ready to strike at any sign of deceit.

The demonic path cultivators merely chuckled darkly.

One of them, a gaunt man with hollow eyes and deep scars across his arms, spat blood onto the ground.

"You think you can scare us into speaking? You self-righteous fools! No matter how many of us you kill, more will rise! Your numbers will dwindle, and when you are weak enough, we will claim the Autumn Dragon Sect for ourselves!"

A second disciple, unable to contain his fury, swung his fist, striking the gaunt cultivator across the face.

The impact sent the man sprawling, but he only laughed harder, blood dripping from his lips. "More," he taunted. "Give me more! This is nothing compared to what we endure in the abyss of cultivation!"

The disciples hesitated, but before they could react further, the elder, who had remained silent until now, suddenly stiffened.

His face darkened, and his eyes widened, sensing an ominous disturbance.

A chill ran through his veins, like the prelude to a devastating storm. He turned his gaze towards the horizon, his spiritual sense flaring wildly.

Lightning crackled in his soul.

A bond severed.

A presence erased in an instant.

Zhang Xugang.

The realization struck like a hammer to the chest.

The elder's breathing quickened, his fingers curling into a fist.

The disciples around him noticed the change in his demeanor and immediately fell silent, their gazes filled with apprehension.

"Something happened to Zhang Xugang," the elder finally spoke, his voice low but firm.

The disciples exchanged uneasy glances. One of them, bolder than the rest, stepped forward. "Elder, what do you mean?"

"His spiritual soul connection… was severed in an instant."

A deadly silence followed.

The weight of his words settled over the disciples like a thick fog.

Severed.

Instantaneously.

It wasn't just death—it was complete annihilation.

One disciple stammered, "But... he was a peak Awakened Realm cultivator. Who could do such a thing so fast?"

The elder's eyes were sharp as daggers. "That is what you will find out. Now."

The urgency in his tone sent the disciples into motion. Their hesitation was gone, replaced by a shared understanding that time was of the essence.

"Hurry!" he barked, his usually composed demeanor breaking slightly. "Go now!"

But as they moved, one of them hesitated, looking at the demonic path cultivators tied before them. "Elder, what about them? There are so many—"

The elder turned his gaze back to the captured cultivators, his expression unreadable. Then, in a voice like thunder, he declared, "I will deal with them personally."

The disciples stiffened.

Personally?

That was rare.

Usually, the punishment of demonic cultivators was left to the sect's enforcers or carried out in full view as a warning to others. But now, their elder wanted to handle it alone?

"Why, Elder?" one disciple asked, unable to mask the confusion in his voice.

"Because Zhang Xugang's connection was severed too quickly. It may have been a lone demonic path cultivator who did this, and killing Zhang Xugang was just a distraction . If I leave, he may take these other members of the demonic sect himself with him and slip away unnoticed," the elder explained.

His voice was laced with calculation, but beneath it, there was something else—something darker.

The disciples exchanged looks.

The reasoning made sense.

A lone assassin could have lured them away from this area with the intention of escaping unnoticed.

The elder staying behind ensured that nothing was overlooked.

"Understood, Elder," one of them said, bowing his head.

The others followed suit, giving one last glance at their captured enemies before taking off into the sky.

One by one, they soared into the distance, vanishing into the vast expanse of the sanctuary's wilderness, determined to uncover the truth behind Zhang Xugang's fate.

And as their figures disappeared, the elder turned his gaze back to the demonic path cultivators, his expression dark and unreadable.

A storm was brewing in his heart, and those before him would soon know its wrath.

Meanwhile, far from the elder and his departing disciples, Zou Fang and Red'Ribbon were celebrating—well, mostly Zou Fang.

He was jumping up and down, cheering loudly, his excitement overwhelming as he shouted about his luck.

Red'Ribbon along with Wei Long had become his tamed beasts! But more importantly, Red'Ribbon had revealed something astonishing—he had advanced from being an especially rare beast to a Quasi-Unique Class Beast after they made a contract to form a bond!

Zou Fang was overjoyed. Rare beasts were already uncommon, but especially rare beasts were even rarer.

And a Quasi-Unique Class Beast?

That was on an entirely different level!

Even core disciples didn't necessarily have such a beast, and yet, he had one.

He grinned widely, filled with a sense of superiority.

As they traveled towards Wei Long's location, Zou Fang felt invincible.

However, their journey soon took an unexpected turn.

A tide of beasts appeared in the distance, their sheer numbers creating a rumbling that shook the earth.

Zou Fang and Red'Ribbon immediately prepared themselves for battle, but something was off.

The beasts weren't attacking.

Instead, they were running—fleeing in the opposite direction as if something had utterly terrified them.

Zou Fang's excitement wavered as confusion settled in. "What the hell? Why aren't they attacking?" he muttered.

Red'Ribbon's eyes narrowed. "Something scared them. Something big."

The realization sent a chill down Zou Fang's spine.

Just as he was processing this strange event, another wave of beasts appeared. But these ones were different.

Their eyes glowed with an eerie light, their bodies emanating the unmistakable aura of Demonic Dao Essence.

Zou Fang and Red'Ribbon didn't even hesitate—they immediately hid, pressing themselves low against the terrain, doing everything in their power to avoid drawing attention.

These were not beasts to be taken lightly.

Zou Fang's heart pounded in his chest. If beasts tainted by the Demonic Dao were also running away, then… what in the world could be scaring them?

Red'Ribbon shot him a wary glance. "Zou Fang, are you sure this is the right direction to find Wei Long?"

Zou Fang hesitated, his instincts telling him something was terribly wrong. But he had made a deal. He clenched his fists and nodded. "Yeah… this is the way. We have to find him."

And so, they pressed forward.

After what felt like an eternity of traversing through an eerily quiet land, they finally found Wei Long.

Zou Fang immediately cheered. His previous worries vanished in an instant as he laughed and jumped up and down. "Wei Long! There you are! Haha, we found you! Finally, I—"

Red'Ribbon yanked him back.

Zou Fang stumbled, confused. "Hey, what—"

Wei Long was not saying anything.

He was just standing there… staring at them.

His body exuded a menacing aura, his gaze filled with something unnatural. Something terrifying.

Red'Ribbon's muscles tensed as he looked at Wei Long. Then, slowly, he whispered, his voice wary and edged with unease, "Zou Fang… I think we have a different Wei Long here."
