Chapter 382: A 2nd Daughter?
As Celeste brought Cami out of the room, the very first thing she heard was the sound of fierce music coming from upstairs.
Following the sound of the music, Celeste preemptively covered her ears as she opened the door to a second children's room.
Inside, Anna was like a vision.
Her fingers meticulously strummed away at an electric guitar with a practiced expertise that was envious and bewitching.
Her simple white tee clung to her body from the sweat. Her vibrant red wings gave her an air of otherworldliness greater than any angel.
Celeste was instantly captivated. At least, until she heard the singing resume.
"What comes after one!?"
"Two!" A small voice yelled back.
"What comes after two!?"
"Three!"
"What comes after three!?"
"FOURRRRR!!!!"
Anna's playing increased in strumming and intensity. "SHE CAN ONLY COUNT TO FOUR! SHE CAN ONLY COUNT TO FOUR! SHE CAN ONLY COUNT TO FOURRR!!!"
In the audience of this tiny concert was a tiny individual not much bigger than Camille.
She appeared to be no older than two or three, with a soft caramel complexion. On her delicately soft cheeks, she had two long marks running from underneath her eye all the way to her chin.
Her hair was white and curly, with two little animal ears sitting atop her head.
She had a pair of bright pink eyes that had off-putting vertical slits. Behind her back, there were three snow-white tails all swinging to the chaotic pace of the music.
Celeste flicked the lights on and off several times to catch the attention of both girls. Anna's guitar playing finally stopped.
"Oh, hey!" Anna wiped her forehead of sweat and smiled at the two of them bashfully. "Oh, hey. Look what we found."
"I see..." Celeste chuckled. "Think you might want to take a moment from your concert to remember we're supposed to be packing up?"
Anna looked down at the small child on the floor. "...You distracted me."
Shiro shrugged her shoulders adorably. "Which one of us is supposed to be the adult again?"
"I guess me, but it REALLY doesn't feel like it sometimes."
Celeste rolled her eyes as she placed Camille on the ground so that she could walk over to her 'sister'. "Cami wanted to see if little Shiro had finished packing or if she needed help."
"Awww..." Anna smiled.
Camille wandered towards her sister and looked her up and down.
Once again, she tried to ignore the infuriating height difference.
Shiro looked down at her with a small sneer on her lips. "It's okay, sissy. I already finished packing all by myself with Tomboy-Mommy."
Anna glanced at Celeste with a crestfallen look. "Why am I 'Tomboy-Mommy'..?"
Celeste looked down at Anna's body, tattoos, and choice of dress.
"...I have no idea. I'm sure it's random."
Camille looked beyond her sister to the boxes neatly packed up along the wall. They even had her name written on them in crayon. Although there was one small issue...
"Ba." Camille pointed.
Shiro narrowed her eyes. "I d-did not write my 'S' wrong, and why are you acting like you can't talk?? I hear you every day!"
Caille sneered. "Bafa."
Shiro glared and began releasing an icy pressure. "I am too worth your words, dingleberry!"
Camille didn't back down and balled up her own little fists. "Bu! Uwah!"
"Are too a dingleberry!"
"Liar!"
"Shrimp!"
Camille drew her head back and head-butted her sister at full force.
Shiro's head went flying back, but with one hand, she summoned an oversized tennis racket made of ice.
She smacked her sister across the room and sent her crashing into the wall.
Or at least she would have if Camille hadn't teleported herself in the last second.
She reappeared over Shiro's head, with her elbow poised to land directly on top of her sister's head.
Her move would have had devastating consequences if Anna didn't swoop in at the last minute and grab both children by the scruffs of their necks.
"Girls, we talked about this! Why can't you just chill out with all the name calling and fighting?"
""She started it!!""
*Sigh*
Anna looked toward Celeste for help. The mature beauty just pretended to look away.
Shiro's new ability to take a human form had surprised the piss out of everyone in the family.
At one moment, she was having a small fever, and then in the next, all her fur was retracting.
The dynamics of the family changed seemingly overnight, with Shiro being labeled a second child out of the blue.
This was when they also learned that Camille very much liked living as an only child. Serana was pretty much the only sister that she did mind, and that was likely because of how she always brought gifts whenever she came over.
But Shiro wasn't bringing any gifts! Just hogging up all the affection and attention that rightfully belonged to Cami!
AND she refused to give her the proper respect that an older sibling was entitled to!
It was Cami's sole purpose in life to make sure that her sister learned to respect her, even if she had to beat it into her!
Anna had difficulty being the bad cop. She and Nadine were the easiest ones for the girls to escape punishment with.
Celeste's refusal to help Anna was less of a punishment and more of a silent nudge to hopefully help her learn to put her foot down.
"You guys are supposed to be sisters, and that means you take care of each other. Not try to tear each other down. You don't see your dad and I fighting, do you?"
""No..."" The girls lowered their heads.
Anna looked at Celeste with pleading eyes that seemed to scream 'Am I done?'
Not even close. Celeste mouthed.
Anna took a deep breath to steel her nerves. "Y-You guys leave me no choice... I'm telling your dad."
Celeste just facepalmed.
""No!!"" The girls cried in unison.
"M-My hands are tied here." Anna folded her arms stubbornly.
Two pairs of fanatically big eyes stared holes into Anna's very soul.
"...Okay, okay, I won't tell him!" Anna caved. "But no Happy Meals around here for the next two weeks!"
Camille started to raise her hand.
"Yes, that means you don't get to have any of mine either!"
Camille put her hand back down and began sniffling.
Anna's already wavering heart was literally crushed. "O-Okay fine, but you guys can't fight anymore! Now hug and make up or I'm telling your dad!"
Celeste just hit her head on the doorframe.
Wiping their eyes, both girls slowly turned to face each other with apologetic looks on their faces.
"I'm sorry for being mean to you, sissy."
*Sniff* "It's okay. I'm sorry too..."
The little tycoons hugged each other without even being prompted to do so.
Anna nodded her head, completely satisfied.
She turned back to Celeste, looking for approval.
Celeste just shook her head and began the process of wiping off their youngest daughter's bloody nose.
"Please, listen to your mother, you two. We don't want to keep telling you the same thing over and over again. Family is supposed to stick together."
""We know...""
While Celeste was still playing medic, the girls suddenly heard the sound of the elevator opening from downstairs.
"Hey! You guys ready yet??"
What do you think?
