Chapter 1456 Camilla's Mourning
-----
After the events that happened yesterday, where the evil sorcerer and demonic cultist Merlinus and his army were vanquished, the entire Kingdom of Luminous had been left in ruins.
Although the ruins, beautifully so, were now covered by endless verdant green nature, the effects of Planta and Lady Verdant's powers and domain.
Their power, having vanquished the monstrous evil, had also spread nature everywhere, leaving the Queen, who was still mourning his Husband, while giving herself the hope she could revive him once she could find his soul, with quite the predicament.
For sure, Camilla had but little time to mourn or rest, the Kingdom was her first priority. Now that her husband had passed away heroically, the entire Kingdom's responsibility and weight rested over her own shoulders.
The predicament at hand, aside from being able to rest, was what to do now? The ruins of her city remained, and she wanted to recover them and build the houses back with everyone's help.
However, Planta and her friends had yet to log-in, making this something that'll end up taking a long while before getting anywhere.
Lastly, if it was fine to destroy the sacred and spiritual forest that Verdant left here, or if she should cut down the trees and burn the grass to make way for the new houses and streets.
She couldn't really imagine her Kingdom being one in the middle of a forest like the Forest of Beginnings, but after what Verdant did for everyone, destroying what she left behind might be a greater offense.
"I have to stop thinking how the Kingdom should be, and how it looked…"
She sighed, feeling rather discouraged and disheartened. Her beautiful Kingdom, its lustrous streets, its many shopping districts, the countless beautiful houses, the noble district with its beautiful manors, the castle, even…
Everything was now covered by plants, most of the buildings completely destroyed, the battle against Merlinus and his forces didn't cost a single civilian life, so she was relieved at least, but the cost in infrastructure, and above all, of the legacy of her Kingdom and its history, was immense.
"Merlinus… Even after your death, what you've done will remain as a deep wound in the hearts of everyone… You damned bastard, I hope you suffer in hell for all eternity."
Camilla gritted her teeth, gripping her fists tightly as she glanced at the beautiful forest beneath her castle.
For a miraculous reason, the castle seemed mostly unscathed, although the lower half seemed slightly wrecked and the surrounding area, including the wall, was damaged, the rest of the infrastructure was fine.
And also everything inside, the food, the resources, the security chambers and the storage, were all secure, enchanted using magic to be as tough as possible.
After everything, she felt relieved at least her home wasn't touched.
Although its outer walls, ceiling, and surroundings were now covered by grass, vines, flowers, and trees, a rather new "look" to everything.
"At least I could sleep in my bed if I wanted… Hah…"
She sat over her bed, looking at the side her husband slept on. Her eyes quickly became teary, as she started crying, hugging her husband's pillow.
"Dear…"
She felt the smell of his hair on the pillow, making her feel slightly more relieved, but only momentarily, as more sadness washed over her.
She really needed Planta right now, to cheer her up, her friends, everyone…
And yet they wouldn't come yet.
"Planta… I need you…"
As she cried, she heard footsteps approaching, light ones, which gently knocked at the door.
"Mom?"
"Ah! Gustav?!"
She gasped in disbelief…
It was definitely the voice of her son!
She was sure she had told her soldiers that the citizens shouldn't come here yet until at least a third of the city was rebuilt.
However, her son appeared out of nowhere?
"W-Why are you here dear? You shouldn't…! Not after everything that happened…"
She quickly ran to open the door, as he saw Gustav looking at his mom, holding back his tears while trying to look strong.
"M-Mom…"
"Gustav…!" Continue reading on My Virtual Library Empire
She couldn't resist, hugging her son tightly and embracing him with her love and her warmth.
Gustav quickly started crying in her embrace, he had already learned about his father, and also after seeing what happened to the city.
"I'm sorry for what happened to your father… I was weak… I was unable to protect him… I was-"
"I-It's not your fault mom!"
"Eh?"
Gustav looked at his mother's eyes, his crimson eyes glowing with golden light.
His aura grew powerful.
"G-Gustav?"
"This is… not the fault of anybody…" he muttered. "Papa… he… he fought like a hero, right? Like our ancestors once did! He was… he became the hero…"
The boy was sniffing, crying while furrowing his eyebrows, gritting his teeth, trying to act tough.
"Papa died fighting to protect us!"
"…"
Camilla looked at her son, the Aura he held, the power that he possessed, and she couldn't help but be slightly reminded of her husband.
"Yes… You're right. He was our hero, everyone's hero."
She hugged her son again, closing her eyes.
That's right.
For him…
For her son.
She had to be strong.
She couldn't just be weeping there.
She had a whole kingdom to take care of, and her son.
Her husband wouldn't be happy if she neglected him, not at all…
And within this boy too, there was the aura of a hero.
She just realized; the boy held an Awakened Heroic Bloodline.
According to her husband, their bloodline had grown very thin, and there hadn't been someone with Awakened Heroic Bloodline in over two hundred years.
Even though the King himself had a suppressed, weak bloodline, only through the powerful artifact Planta made was he able to awaken it and push it to his limits.
Maybe because he awakened it forcefully too much, he had to pay the price for such power…
But his son might be different…
He, who held the Awakened Hero Bloodline of Luminous, and the Vampire Bloodline of his mother.
Might have the potential to become the strongest hero.
"I'm sorry for trying to rely so much on you, Planta… I'll rebuild my Kingdom on my own, with my people… Don't worry about us, we'll fine."
She held her son's hand and walked out of her room, looking forward to a future she and her subjects would build with their own hands.
"Let's go, Gustav."
"W-Where to?"
"To rebuild a new Kingdom."
