Chapter 468: The Star-Catching Old Ghost!
“Sixth-rank alchemist?”
Hearing Xiao Yi Xian’s words, Han Yue and Han Xue’s mouths opened wide in astonishment.
Currently, even the highest-ranked alchemist among the Han family’s offerings was only a fifth-rank alchemist, and that person was a white-haired elder. How old could their eldest senior brother, Liu Ling, be?@@novelbin@@
After thinking for a moment, Han Xue suddenly asked Xiao Yi Xian, “If Eldest Senior Brother is already a sixth-rank alchemist at his age, then what rank is Master? Seventh? Or even eighth?”
“Master has definitely reached the seventh rank. As for whether he’s eighth, I’m not entirely sure,” Xiao Yi Xian replied, shaking her head. In her opinion, however, it was highly likely that Gu He had already achieved the eighth rank.
“Xue’er, Master has been a seventh-rank alchemist for quite some time. According to Senior Sister Zi Yan, Master once gifted her a seventh-rank pill back when she was in the academy,” Han Yue added.
“Zi Yan…”
This wasn’t the first time Nalan Yanran and Xiao Yi Xian had heard the name today. Both of them were now quite intrigued by this mysterious Zi Yan mentioned by Han Yue and Han Xue.
“Han Yue, does this mean Junior Sister Zi Yan went somewhere else to train on her own?” Xiao Yi Xian asked curiously.
“Yes. When I parted ways with Senior Sister Zi Yan, she had already reached the advanced Dou Emperor realm. With her strength, exploring Central Plains shouldn’t pose much of a problem,” Han Yue nodded.
Xiao Yi Xian understood that Han Yue and Zi Yan were also on training missions lasting two years. Thinking about this, she sighed, “Central Plains is so vast. Finding her would be nearly impossible. Even if Master uses the spatial jade talisman to locate her, she won’t stay in one place. I guess we’ll just have to wait until the time comes for Junior Sister Zi Yan to return on her own.”
“Indeed,” Han Yue agreed, nodding lightly. “Senior Sister Zi Yan mentioned that she would return when I participate in the Four Pavilion Grand Competition. That’s less than fourteen months away now, so it shouldn’t be too long before she starts her journey back.”
“In that case, we’ll stay here with you until then!”
“Haha, Senior Sister Xian, before heading to the Tianmu Mountain Range, I already had Xue’er prepare your rooms!” Han Yue said cheerfully. “They’re over there. Let’s go take a look!”
…
Three months passed quickly. During this time, with Nalan Yanran, Xiao Yi Xian, and the others accompanying Yun Yun at the Han family estate, Gu He often left Tianbei City to refine pills in nearby secluded mountains.
In these three months, Gu He successfully refined three seventh-rank pills and fully absorbed the cultivation energy returned to him by his disciples.
This process of absorption and refinement exceeded Gu He’s expectations, allowing him to compress his Dou Qi four times. As a result, his cultivation level advanced to the peak of Eight-Rotation Dou Venerate.
One day, three months later, while preparing to refine pills in a remote mountain, Gu He suddenly received a mental transmission from Xue Tianzun, the Blood Venerate of the Soul Hall’s Northern Region Branch.
“Master, a Venerate from another branch has visited today!”
Hearing the message, Gu He immediately responded with a command in his mind: “Act according to the situation and report to me at all times!”
After issuing this command, Gu He swiftly stowed the Dragon Soul Cauldron, which stood firmly on the ground. His figure then turned into a thick streak of silver lightning and vanished into the void.
Deep within the Northern Region, in a notorious mountain range teeming with ferocious beasts, a massive black hall stood like an ancient colossus. The imposing structure was shrouded in the depths of the wilderness, exuding a mysterious and foreboding aura.
Similar to the Canaan Academy's Inner Court, the colossal black hall was enveloped by a distorted spatial barrier.
At this moment, just outside the hall's massive doors, dozens of figures clad in black robes knelt respectfully. Each of these individuals had a cultivation level of at least the Dou Ancestor realm.
Ahead of the kneeling figures, two people walked side by side.
One of them wore a crimson robe, his long hair as red as blood, and his aged face was marked with the passage of time. This crimson-robed elder was none other than Blood Venerate, a Soul Hall Venerate who had previously been tricked into the Black-Corner Region by Elder Yeming and subsequently bound with a puppet seed by Gu He.
Beside Blood Venerate was another figure, also clad in a black robe like the Soul Hall Protectors kneeling around them. His face and hands, exposed outside his robes, were dry and shriveled, resembling little more than skin stretched over bone. Yet the aura emanating from him was incredibly powerful, indicating he was at the peak of the Five-Star Dou Venerate realm.
As they approached the massive black hall, Blood Venerate smiled and spoke to the black-robed elder beside him. “Star-Catching Old Ghost, what brings you here this time?”
“Sigh…”
The black-robed elder, addressed as Star-Catching Old Ghost, let out a long sigh before replying, “Blood Brother, I’m on a mission this time. Passing through your region, I thought I’d stop by for a visit.”
“Oh? Star-Catching Old Ghost, what task could trouble you so much?” Blood Venerate asked in surprise.
“It’s about…”
Star-Catching Old Ghost began to speak but, noticing the numerous Soul Hall Protectors kneeling before them, chose to hold back his words.
“Let’s head inside first,” he said, pausing momentarily before flicking his sleeve and striding toward the hall.
Seeing this, Blood Venerate quickly followed.
Before long, the two entered through the giant doors, traversing several dim, eerie corridors until they arrived at a secluded room deep within the hall. The room was illuminated by ghostly green flames flickering in the dark.
Once inside, Blood Venerate quickly performed several hand seals, and the room was soon sealed by a peculiar energy, isolating it completely.
After completing the precautionary measures, Blood Venerate turned to Star-Catching Old Ghost with a faint smile. “Hehe, Star-Catching Old Ghost, now that we’re secure, are you ready to share the details of your mission?”
“Sigh… This mission involves the fallen ancient imperial clan, the Xiao Clan,” Star-Catching Old Ghost replied with a sigh.
“Oh, the Xiao Clan, that fallen ancient imperial family… For the Hall Master to assign you personally, it must be a significant matter!” Blood Venerate exclaimed in surprise.
“This wasn’t the Hall Master’s directive. I’ve been sent by Lord Nine Venerate to the Northwestern Continent,” Star-Catching Old Ghost explained.
“Ah, so it’s Lord Nine Venerate’s orders?” Blood Venerate nodded slightly.
“Exactly. The ones originally tasked with operations in the Northwestern Continent haven’t sent back any updates for a long time. This time, the Hall decided to send me personally to investigate.”
