Chapter 154
Time flies.
In the blink of an day, it was already late December. By 8 PM, the sky was already dark.
In the finest hotel restaurant in Yunyang, Quan Zhisui was surrounded by her university classmates, celebrating her 19th birthday.
After the banquet, everyone walked out, chattering away.
"Quan Zhisui is so rich! She had her birthday at the best restaurant and invited so many people!"
"Seriously, a banquet hall! And it was so beautifully decorated, more extravagant than a coming-of-age ceremony!"
"The whole class, all the martial arts club members, and her club, hundreds of people eating together!"
"What does her family do? I heard she even has a martial arts gym on a mountain?"
"I don't know, but she's got money, and a lot of people want to date her."
"She's super hard to chase. Those rich second-year seniors have been trying to woo her for half a year and still haven't succeeded."
"Don't even mention the guys; even I, a girl, get heart palpitations when I make eye contact with her. Her aura is so strong, it makes you want to call her 'big sis'..."
In the lobby.
Quan Zhisui walked out the door, letting the cold wind brush against her face indifferently.
She wore an all-black ensemble, her long black coat reaching her ankles, her tall figure striking.
Her long hair was gathered up, and she had a full makeup on, giving her an air of sharp, noble grace.
Beside her were two senior students whose eyes could barely tear themselves away from her.
Yu Zetian: "Quan Zhisui, you're not drinking any wine? Should we head to the club tonight?"
Yan Rong: "Let's hang out a bit longer. It's not every day it's your birthday."
Quan Zhisui said nothing, merely staring at the street across from her.
There, a convoy was approaching, at least ten cars strong.@@novelbin@@
The black fleet stopped before her, the grandeur of the sight silencing the classmates waiting for their rides and leaving the two seniors astonished.
This wasn't Quan Zhisui's car.
The license plates didn't belong to Yunyang; they seemed to be from some city in Su Province!
So far away?
Who could it be?
The streetlights reflected off the shining black paint of the cars.
The door opened.
Qian Cheng stepped out, bowed to her first, then smiled: "Long time no see, President Quan."
He had changed his manner of address, not daring to show any disrespect.
Quan Zhisui stood still.
After greeting her, Qian Cheng went to the middle car, respectfully opened the rear door, and wheeled out a wheelchair.
Wei Jingsan had arrived.
Wei Jingsan sat in the wheelchair, not speaking as he got out, but first raising his hand.
Whoosh!
In an instant, dozens of bodyguards from the ten cars descended, trained and efficient, separating the university classmates far away and surrounding Quan Zhisui and Wei Jingsan.
Even Qian Cheng got back into the car, leaving the two to talk alone.
Before this, although Quan Zhisui had stayed at the Wei family residence for so long, she had never met Wei Jingsan.
This was their first official meeting!
She observed this old man.
Though he was seated in a wheelchair and had difficulty moving, his presence was regal, commanding respect without even being angry.
A single gesture cleared the area.
"You are Quan Zhisui," Wei Jingsan said, scanning her. "I've seen you, but you haven't seen me. Staying in my home without greeting the host, a rude one, aren't you?"
Qian Cheng, who had just gotten into the car: "???"
He felt like he was about to hyperventilate!
What are you doing, Mr. Wei?!
What did you say before we left?
You said you'd try to persuade her!
You said, being an old man in a wheelchair, you might move the girl to pity.
Is this how you persuade someone?!
Is this even persuasion?!
Qian Cheng felt utterly deceived, deeply regretting his decision.
But it was too late...
Quan Zhisui didn't even lower her head as she calmly spoke: "Sneaking a peek from the window, you're the rude one."
Qian Cheng covered his face, utterly devastated!
He had finally witnessed what "Kings clashing" truly meant.
Just the first meeting had such sharp exchanges?
There was no hope of them getting along!
Qian Cheng began to frantically despair, as Wei Jingsan's son had predicted, Wei Jingsan shouldn't have met Quan Zhisui.
This old man would get himself into trouble!
And Quan Zhisui would react harshly to his mischief!
Qian Cheng wanted to get out of the car, but suddenly noticed a bodyguard staring at him, giving a warning look.
Qian Cheng: "..."
Fine, I'm just a chess piece for you two, right?!
In the open space.
Wei Jingsan grinned, his eyes gleaming with interest as he looked at Quan Zhisui.
After a long while.
"Spunky!" he said.
Quan Zhisui asked: "Mr. Wei, why did you come all this way to see me?"
Wei Jingsan: "A woman who could make my grandson tear up his Peking University admission letter at the commendation ceremony deserves my personal visit."
Quan Zhisui's breath caught: "He tore it?"
After leaving Liangxi Town, she hadn't checked up on anyone or anything, not even an online search.
She had made up her mind to cut all ties!
For the college entrance exam, she had specifically coaxed him into applying to the top university in China, and yet he hadn't gone?
What was the point of all her arrangements then?
With such outstanding grades and a brilliant, proud personality, he should have stood at the peak of the world!
Yet he had torn it...
Quan Zhisui felt a painful pang in her chest, a sensation she hadn't experienced in a long time.
Wei Jingsan said: "Push me around, show me your domain."
Quan Zhisui looked at the streetlights: "Now? Out here?"
Blowing in the cold wind?
Wei Jingsan snorted coldly: "Not allowed?"
"Okay," Quan Zhisui steadied her emotions and stepped forward.
She placed her hand on the old man's wheelchair and started pushing, the two of them walking along the bustling street, enjoying the cold wind and the night scenery of Yunyang.
The bodyguards kept a certain distance behind them, giving the two space to talk.
The guests who attended the evening banquet were stunned, filled with endless curiosity!
Yan Rong and Yu Zetian exchanged glances, completely baffled!
Originally thinking the fleet might bring some top-tier young master, but instead, it was an old man in a wheelchair.
"Wudang Mountain," Wei Jingsan's voice sounded like he was reminiscing about something, "I came here when I was young, climbed the Golden Summit, hehe."
Quan Zhisui remained silent, unable to join the conversation, still preoccupied with thoughts of Wei Shixu.
Wei Jingsan said: "University is one of the few places where one can start over in life."
Quan Zhisui's footsteps halted as she firmly declared: "My life has already started anew."
"Hmph..." Wei Jingsan snorted, saying: "That's not necessarily true."
Quan Zhisui couldn't see his expression, only feeling the undercurrents in those words. With a stern tone, she replied: "If you've come to lecture me about your grandson..."
"I'm not!" Wei Jingsan abruptly cut her off, saying: "I don't meddle in young people's affairs; tearing an admission letter is no big deal. He tore it himself, not you, so what's the big deal?"
Quan Zhisui: "Then why did you come to see me?"
Wei Jingsan: "Hah! Can't I come see you? I do whatever I want."
Quan Zhisui: "..."
No wonder, he and Wei Shixu really are cut from the same cloth, both so overbearing!
The two arrived by the riverside, the cold wind blowing fiercely.
Wei Jingsan seemed unaffected by the cold, enjoying it.
Quan Zhisui stood behind his wheelchair, the two of them gazing at the night scenery of the river.
After a long while.
Wei Jingsan spoke: "I once had a wife."
Quan Zhisui couldn't help but chuckle: "You must have had one to have so many descendants, right?"
Wei Jingsan: "You're really annoying! Didn't you see I was reminiscing?"
Quan Zhisui smiled: "Please, continue."
What do you think?
