Chapter 20 - 20 Going to the Vineyard
Chapter 20: Chapter 20 Going to the Vineyard
After kindergarten, Mengmeng got home and just when she was about to tell her parents about the trip to the vineyard, she found the house empty upon opening the door.
Strange, weren’t her mom and dad still at home this morning?
Where had everyone gone?
Just as Mengmeng stood there, puzzled, Gu Zhihan had already taken down a sticky note from the door, glanced at the message left on it, and then looked down to tell Mengmeng, “No need to look for them, your mom and dad said they received a sudden notice from their boss and went out of town for work.”
Mengmeng’s parents knew that Gu Zhihan could read, which is why they felt reassured to leave a note.
“I see…” Mengmeng nodded, then asked, “What about godfather and godmother? Will they join us for grape picking?”
“You can forget about that too, they just called me to say that the hospital is very busy these days and they can’t make it back,” Gu Zhihan said, shaking his head slightly.
After he said that, Gu Zhihan thought Mengmeng would be disappointed, but to his surprise, the next second she was jumping for joy, shouting, “Really!? That’s just so, so, so great!”
Gu Zhihan couldn’t help but give her a curious look, “Aren’t you supposed to be sad about not having your parents with you to pick grapes?”
Yet this kid seemed so happy about it.
“Why should I be sad?” Mengmeng stopped bouncing and blinking asked in response, then she unexpectedly continued, “I was actually planning to tell them not to participate in the kindergarten outing and mess with our time alone!”
Now that they were too busy to join, it even saved her the trouble of having to talk them out of it!
“…” So that was possible.
Gu Zhihan was stupefied by what he heard and after a few seconds of silence, turned his small figure into the kitchen to start cooking.
With the parents not at home, the task of cooking naturally fell on Gu Zhihan’s shoulders. He wanted to direct Mengmeng to cook, but seeing her struggle even with washing vegetables, he decided to do it himself. @@novelbin@@
The next day, the radiant sunshine bathed the kindergarten grounds, and in front of the building, parents filled the space.
Though the kindergarten didn’t force parents to accompany their children on the outing, most parents were still worried and would take a leave to follow their kids.
All parents except for Mengmeng’s and Gu Zhihan’s…
“Hmm, Mengmeng, Gu Zhihan, where are your parents?” when Teacher Tao saw the two of them arriving with no one else in tow, she couldn’t help but inquire, looking behind them, thinking their parents were coming later.
“Teacher, you don’t need to look anymore, our mom and dad are too busy to come.” Mengmeng kindly reminded her, then hugged Gu Zhihan’s arm, proudly boasting to her, “Though they didn’t come, my husband did! Having my husband with me is enough!”
“Well… Yes…” Teacher Tao, being single, chuckled awkwardly and silently swallowed that “dog food.”
“Let go of me, stop tugging and pulling,” Gu Zhihan said, his ears tinged red while glaring at the little girl practically glued to him, pushing her a little away.
Really, she had no sense of shame in public!
“I want to tug and pull!” Mengmeng defiantly hugged him even tighter.
Unable to bear the “dog food” any longer, Teacher Tao hurriedly checked the numbers before leading the parents and kids onto the double-decker bus rented by the kindergarten.
A single bus could seat one class’s parents and kids perfectly, and with only three classes in the senior group, the three buses set off from the kindergarten majestically.
After a bumpy ride of more than an hour, they finally arrived at the most famous agritainment in City A.
“Parents and kids, we have arrived.” When the bus came to a halt, Teacher Tao, seated at the front, stood up and spoke into the megaphone to the people inside, “Please don’t rush when getting off the bus, go slowly, one by one…”
What do you think?
