Chapter 42: Chapter 42 Give me the handle
“Luo Mengmeng, when you make a mistake, you must be brave enough to admit it, and it has nothing to do with being stupid or not.” Hearing this, Gu Zhihan couldn’t help but lower his brows to look at the little one in his arms. His warm palm rested on her head, and although his voice was young, his words were remarkably forceful, “Actually, making mistakes isn’t scary, what’s scary is our unwillingness to admit our own errors.”
Luo Mengmeng listened, somewhat confused, but in that moment, looking up at the boy’s resolute face, she felt he was exceptionally tall and responsible.
Years later, Mengmeng would often recall the words he said today; this boy taught her to have the courage to admit her errors, and he taught her many more things…
He was not only her husband but also her mentor and best friend.
“Mm!”
The current Mengmeng nodded vigorously, and said again, “I won’t cheat on tests anymore.”
Having admitted it, it felt as if a huge stone had been lifted from her heart.
“Knowing your mistakes and correcting them makes you a good child.” Gu Zhihan’s hand stroked her fluffy head again, the corners of his lips curved gently, and he took her hand to continue towards the cleaning area, “We should go clean our assigned area now.”
“Let’s go, husband…” Mengmeng followed his steps.
A heavy snow had just fallen yesterday, and the whole school was enveloped in a white blanket, including Class 1’s cleaning area.
A thick layer of snow was covered with withered and yellow leaves, making it even harder to clean up.
Halfway through the sweeping, Tong Mo and Lu Zichen also came over, each holding a broom and dustpan.
“Why are you guys here?” Hearing the footsteps, Mengmeng lifted her eyes, her face alight with surprise as she watched them.
“Of course, we share our joys and shoulder our troubles together!”
Tong Mo and Lu Zichen spoke in unison, their youthful faces radiating the innocent look of their age.
Even Gu Zhihan felt touched for a moment.
There are many who add splendor to the scene, but few who lend a hand in times of need.
By the time the cleaning area was completely swept, everyone’s hands were red and swollen from the cold, especially Luo Mengmeng’s.
Her skin was always very delicate; not only were her little hands frozen like pig’s trotters, her face was also so red, and she kept stamping her feet and rubbing her hands to warm herself up.
“Is it very cold?” Seeing her like this, Gu Zhihan couldn’t help but put down his broom and strode over to her.
“Yes, it’s cold…” Mengmeng lifted her pitifully large eyes to look at him as she spoke.
Gu Zhihan met her gaze, then gestured, “Give me your hands.”
“What’s wrong, husband?” Mengmeng was puzzled.
“Why all the questions!” Gu Zhihan’s handsome face showed a trace of impatience. He simply reached out and grabbed her tucked in fingers, enveloping them in his own large hands.
He even lifted them up, placing her small hands near his lips, and gently breathed warm air onto her swollen fingers. @@novelbin@@
The warm breath on the sensitive skin between her fingers was ticklish, like a breeze in March skimming across a lake, causing ripples to spread.
Luo Mengmeng froze on the spot, her eyes unblinkingly fixed on the boy in front of her, the scene of him warming her hands clearly reflected in her bright pupils.
Snowflakes began to drift down from the sky at some unknown time, swirling, dancing, and alighting upon the two of them in a flurry.
The world seemed to lose its voice, becoming eerily silent, with only the boy earnestly warming the girl’s fingers.
What do you think?
