Chapter 90: Chapter 90: The Little Amusements of Arbor Day
Mengmeng and the others went downstairs and lined up separately by gender. The homeroom teacher then led everyone out of the school gate to plant trees behind the campus.
The holes for the trees had already been dug by workers in advance, so all everyone needed to do was plant the saplings, cover them with soil, and water them.
Therefore, it was extremely easy.
In no time, rows of saplings were planted.
After planting trees, there was another daunting task—removing weeds from the school’s old sports field!
Under the scorching sun, the homeroom teacher was coming over with a stack of plastic bags, “Everybody come and get a bag. Today if anyone’s weeds don’t fill up this bag, they are not allowed back in the classroom for the lesson. They will have to brave the cold wind here and keep weeding until it’s full, only then can you come back to class!”
...
It must be said that to prevent the students from slacking off, the homeroom teacher really put in a lot of effort, distributing a bag to each person.
“How long will it take to fill such a big bag?”
The students lamented in misery.
Although the other students were complaining that the bags distributed by the homeroom teacher were too big, Mengmeng, Tong Mo, and Lu Zichen exchanged glances and confirmed with each other, “Did the teacher just say that we can’t return to the classroom until we finish weeding?”
“Yes!”
“Exactly!”
“That’s right!”
After confirming, they answered their own question.
“Then we… could simply…”
The three of them had increasingly sly looks in their eyes and said in unison again!
“We could deliberately take our time, never fill the weeding bag, and when the school bell rings we can just go home!”
Whining, and then we don’t have to attend classes today! @@novelbin@@
This plan was simply perfect!
Mengmeng and her group were thrilled to pieces.
Like-minded indeed…
Watching the three slackers try every possible way to skip class, Gu Zhihan, who was nearby, couldn’t help but frown and silently moved to the side to weed on his own.
After all, those not on the same path do not plan together.
“Honey, why are you pulling weeds? Don’t you want to join us?” Seeing him walk away, Mengmeng quickly dropped her allies and chased after him.
With good intentions, Mengmeng reminded him, blinking her clear, black-and-white eyes at him.
“Thank you for your kindness, but no need,” said Gu Zhihan, who was squatting down weeding, looking up at the girl with a glance, and flatly declined.
However, out of the obligation as her deskmate and neighbor, he decided to warn her again, “Luo Mengmeng, you’d better not follow their lead. Hurry up and weed properly to fill up your bag, or do you really think the homeroom teacher will let you skip class and weed here all day?”
The more he thought about it, the more Gu Zhihan found Luo Mengmeng and the others to be naive.
Naive to the point that he almost wanted to laugh…
If they really were left on the sports field, not only was there a chance they might get into some kind of accident, but if the school leaders saw, the homeroom teacher would certainly get a talking-to for not letting students back to the classroom.
Taking all this into account, any smart person could tell that what the homeroom teacher had just said was only meant to scare the students.
“Why couldn’t it happen?” Even though Gu Zhihan had made his point clear, Lu Zichen still refused to accept it, “I believe our homeroom teacher is someone who keeps his word!”
“I believe it too!”
Tong Mo clenched her fists, wholeheartedly in agreement.
“I…” Mengmeng hesitated for a moment before also supporting them, “I also think the homeroom teacher definitely won’t go back on his word.”
Although their homeroom teacher was strict, he was still a person of good character!
More importantly… she really didn’t want to go back to the classroom for the class!
What do you think?
