Chronicles of Forgotten Extra

Chapter 146 146: Be My Friend?

Bwahahahaha

That pushover was the Demon King?

I can't believe it.

Alden laughed in his mind, thinking about what had just happened.

He had scammed the Demon King.

Yeah, no way I'm that stupid to believe that.

Although he believed the Demon King told him the truth.

At least mostly.

He didn't understand why the Demon King played along with his lies or why he even shared as much as he did.

Does that make him a good guy?

Yeah... definitely not.

The Demon King was likely even more dangerous than Alden had initially thought.

Alden had read enough fantasy novels to know—beings who play around instead of being openly hostile are way worse.

Friendly villains are the deadliest kind.

Not much of the Demon King was shown in the novel.

He just popped up near the end and wiped the world clean with a maniac's laugh.

Definitely not right in the head.

Well, no worries. If he tries that again, I'll just have to show him the power of Lord BoomBoom!

Bwahahaha!

Alden laughed at his own jokes again.

The reason Alden was blabbering so much instead of waking up in his room was because he was currently flying—no, gliding—over what looked like a golden river.

Not water.

Definitely not water.

What's the word… yeah. Honey. That's what it looks like.

But it wasn't sticky, and it glowed.

A soft and warm pulse that shimmered like starlight mixed with gold.

Why am I seeing this now?

This didn't happen last time.

Alden had become a pseudo-expert in traveling through the world now.

He hadn't witnessed anything like this before, so he was confused.

He was drifting on a fixed path, not flying by will.

Is this some kind of system thing? Or… something else?

Just then he saw a portal opening in front of him.

It was probably the door back to his home.

But before he entered the portal, he saw a faint shadow...

What the hell?

Someone's coming...

At first, Alden couldn't even tell if it was a person. Then he saw it.

Two wings.

White and radiant.

A bird? Might be.

Before he could get a better look, the portal pulled him in—sucking him away without a trace.

__

In the space Alden had just been moments ago, someone came to a slow stop.

Their wings were pure white, glowing softly as they caught the ambient light.

Their features were obscured beneath a white veil—only their eyes were visible.

The eyes peeking out of the veil were a mesmerizing blend of gold and crimson. Constantly shifting like galaxies.

Hmm, strange. I was sure I sensed someone.

They mused in their mind.

I'm sure it was the smell of a human. But how could a human enter here?

…Tch, I'm definitely overthinking again. If I tell this to Grandpa, he's just gonna make fun of me again. So I won't tell him anything. Forget it.

They just stood at that place for a while, observing the serene golden lake and the ever-mesmerizing scenery.

But their eyes didn't hold any wonder.

Rather, they were filled with boredom.

They didn't say anything and just turned around with a sigh as they flew away.

__

In a plain but luxurious room, a white-haired girl was standing. Her violet eyes had an unreadable expression on her face.

It felt like a mix of concern and obsessiveness.

She held the hand of a boy with raven-black hair. His expressions were calm, but the violent, ominous energy leaking out of him told otherwise.

Amyra gripped Alden's hand even tighter.

What's happening?

He should be back by now.

How should I help him?

Just as she was panicking, Alden moved.

He gripped the hand of Amyra in his grasp unconsciously.

Amyra wanted to walk away immediately, seeing signs of him waking up.

But his grip was too strong,

And,

A part of me doesn't want to resist the warmth of his hands.

Alden was the only being in this world who could truly warm Amyra's cold heart just with the slightest touch.

Just as Amyra was fighting an internal battle of resisting and not resisting—

A voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Amyra?"

The voice was hoarse but confused.

Alden was literally looking at her with a question mark floating above his head.

Amyra's brain short-circuited looking at his cute wake-up face.

She forgot all her worries for a moment.

"What are you doing inside my room?" Alden asked, but his cute face held a frown this time.

How should I answer?

To be fair, she had already planned something before.

But she decided to change it slightly.

Alden still held her hand—probably not even aware of it.

She calmed her excited mind as she prepared to respond.

"I was following a suspicious person."

"Huh?" Alden's eyes widened slightly. "What suspicious person?"

He asked. His gaze turned towards the Spirit Pearl as soon as she uttered her words.

He released a sigh of relief after seeing it safe and sound.

Cute.

Amyra even found that reaction cute.

"I saw someone suspicious in the lobby," she explained, voice smooth. "So I followed them. They came toward your dorm room. When I arrived, the door lock was broken. I came in to stop them, but it was too late—they'd already left."

She perfectly maintained her cold voice.

Alden's face looked calm. But she was sure he was panicking inside.

"What did the person look like?" he asked.

"Their features were cloaked in the shadows."

It wasn't that Amyra was doing it just because she needed some excuse.

No, I'm warning him. Subtly.

And if I know him, he's already listing people in his head.

"Thank you, Princess," he thanked her.

"But why are you standing so close to me?" he asked. "And why are you even holding my hands?"

He spoke as he released her hand.

She felt a sting in her hand as it lost the warmth of his.

But she couldn't mess it up now.

It was time for her real plan.

"That thing," she said, her hand pointing to the Spirit Pearl, "just as I was about to chase after the intruder, it suddenly started glowing—ominously."

"Then it floated above your chest."

She let her words linger for a moment, watching his reaction.

"It's a Spirit Pearl, isn't it?"

Alden's eyes widened.

How did she know about the Spirit Pearl? Damn it.

He must be thinking something like that.

Her plan was simple at first. She was going to use the information about the Spirit Pearl to propose a deal to him...

To ask him to pretend to be her boyfriend. That would have been a perfect excuse for her to grow closer to him without his suspicions.

But the dream changed her mind.

I don't want to manipulate Alden. I want him to love me genuinely.

Like how I love him.

I want him to see my true self—and love me anyway.

She knew if she manipulated his feelings, there would be love, but it wouldn't be real.

So she was not going to follow her initial plan now.

Instead, she made up another plan.

Alden's widened eyes shifted to a frown, then suspicion.

"What do you want, Princess?" This time, his tone was polite but cold.

It was the side he never really revealed much in the academy.

It looked like he was ready to fight and even kill her if she said something wrong.

Amyra understood. If she even hinted at revealing his secret, he'd summon his sword, kill her on the spot, and teleport away with that pendant of his.

But she smiled.

Softly.

Genuinely.

It was not an act.

"I want to propose a deal. I'll keep your secret safe," she said, her voice almost a whisper. "In exchange, I want you to do one thing."

Alden frowned.

"What deal?" His hands twitched and his eyes were still cold.

She didn't flinch.

"It's simple." Amyra's voice turned even softer in response.

Amyra was done hiding behind her mask.

She would show him her true self, her true personality.

The one she mostly kept hidden behind her cold face.

She was going to make him fall for her again.

Genuinely.

Only that way would his love be real.

She was going to start anew.

She was going to make him love her again.

And to do that… she needed a reason to stay close.

"Be my friend." Amyra asked with a slightly blushed face.

"Huh?"

Alden's body, once tense, seemed to deflate slightly in surprise.

Not because he trusted her.

Just because it was such a bizarre answer.

A truly ridiculous answer.

One that he wouldn't have expected from Amyra.

"What the hell?" he muttered unconsciously.

Amyra just met his gaze, steady and sincere.

"Be my friend," she repeated.

"That's all."

__

Alden stared at Amyra, still unsure if she was being serious.

Her violet eyes didn't waver.

No tricks, no schemes—just a simple request.

His mind only echoed with a single question.

What the actual hell is this?
