Chapter 79 Sevenfold Ruin?
Alden looked at Garrick with 'Are you serious?' eyes.
But Garrick didn't care. He ignored it.
'He is very petty for being some strong mercenary king.' Alden thought in his mind, careful to not utter it outside.
He didn't want to piss off Garrick more.
"Senior, is there no other way?" Alden asked hoping to avoid the embarrassment.
Garrik shook his head, suppressing the laughter that was threatening to come out.
"Nope, there is no other way, Junior." He said.
"Fine." Alden gave up, knowing Garrick wasn't going to let him off easily.
"If that's what you want, I'll show you what I learnt from Ms Gretta."
Alden started stretching his body first.
Only after stretching enough did he start.
Alden twirled, spun, and finally landed with a controlled pose. His movements were fluid, precise and, more importantly, chaotic.
He spun like a malfunctioning robot.
Kicked his legs in directions that should not have been possible for ordinary humans.
Spun his arms with the enthusiasm of a person being attacked by many bees.
His moves were exactly as Gretta had shown him for the first time.
Garrick's mouth was wide open.
What the–?
Alden had perfectly managed to imitate Gretta.
"How did you manage to imitate that to such an extent?" He was shocked.
He could even see the image of Gretta dancing behind Alden.
Alden looked at the shocked face of Garrick with a smirk. "Can I inherit the weapon art now?"
He asked Garrick in a confident voice.
Garrick, who was currently busy questioning reality, too shocked to even try another trick, just nodded.
How could someone master that monstrosity?
His eyes looking at Alden changed as if he were looking at some monster.
'Yes…he must be a monster…only a monster could master that..'
Alden didn't care about Garrick's internal thoughts as he asked, "So what do I have to do?"
Garrik snapped out of his thoughts. "Right? You just have to touch that book?"
'What the fck?' Alden cursed in his mind.
If it was that simple, what was the role of Garrick… And moreover, why did I even have to dance?
He looked at Garrick furiously.
"Don't look at me like that, kid." Garrik said with a smirk, "I am here to just guide you, as I said before."
He cursed Garrick a few more times in his mind before he walked towards the golden book floating peacefully on the altar.
He touched it slightly.
The book turned into golden particles as it entered his body.
Alden had déjà vu.
He recalled the time he inherited Eclipse Codex.
'Fck, not again…'
And true to his suspicion, an unimaginable pain coursed through his whole body. An unbearable, mind-shattering pain.
The pain was similar to the pain he felt when he first inherited Eclipse Codex.
Why does everything in my life have to do with pain?
Can't I just inherit something without feeling pain for once?
The weapon art was forcefully attuning Alden's body to suit the weapon art.
His bones were being shattered before being reformed. His muscles were being ripped apart, only to heal back.
And if that's not enough.
The process was being repeated — again and again..
Information was being poured into his brain.
But Alden was still conscious.
Gritting his teeth. His pain tolerance had increased by a lot.

Garrik looked at Alden in shock.
The time he inherited the weapon art, he had been unconscious due to the pain.
But a kid was enduring that amount of pain without losing his consciousness.
Alden's face was twisted in pain, his teeth clenched so hard that blood dripped from his lips. But he refused to collapse.
What did that kid suffer through to be able to bear such a huge amount of pain?
He felt pity for Alden.
Alden was a monster. There was no doubt about that.
But monsters were only born from suffering.
"You are doing great, kid." He encouraged Alden.
"Just bear for a few more moments; the more you bear, the more closely your body will attune to the weapon art."
Alden didn't answer.
Not because he didn't want to, but because he couldn't.
After what felt like an eternity, the pain finally began to fade, but Alden's body was still numb.
He gasped, his whole body drenched in sweat.
[CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY INHERITED THE CHAOS WEAPON ART.]
[THE WEAPON ART: SEVENFOLD RUIN HAD BEEN UNLOCKED]
The information of the weapon art was already in Alden's mind.
But his body was too tired to care about anything. He dismissed the notification for now, as he decided to check it later.
"Is that it?" Alden asked Garrick, his voice was parched and his eyelids were heavy.
"Yes." The old mercenary smirked.
The job of Garrick was to guide the energy within Alden in case he fell unconscious, but that moment never came.
Alden had borne all that pain without losing consciousness.
"This inheritance chamber will collapse soon, and you'll be sent back soon." Garrick gestured toward the space around them.
"Try not to die too soon, kid. You'll be a damn legend someday." Garrik gave the last advice to him.
Alden nodded.
"Thanks for the guidance, Senior…." Just as he said his sentence, his body collapsed unconscious, giving in to exhaustion.
The whole space started to shake as Alden's body was turned into light particles vanishing from the chamber.
He was being transported back to Eryndor.
Garrik looked at the vanishing body of Alden as a faint smile was present on his face. "I hope you'll be able to complete the weapon art, Alden."
With a final smirk, he too faded into nothingness.

Outside of the dungeon.
Gretta was still seated for the trial to end. And soon enough she felt it, the trial being completed.
A smile was present on her beautiful face…
"So, you inherited it finally, Alden."
She wasn't surprised.
She already knew Alden was going to inherit it, as she had seen that possibility with her ability before.
Moreover, she had seen the whole trial with her eyes.
She was particularly surprised about Ren. She hadn't expected Voidborne to send their main heir to this trial.
At least not after their daughter had mysteriously vanished.
Something isn't right.
She knew the public story—the Voidborne heiress had disappeared without a trace. Find exclusive stories on My Virtual Library Empire
But Gretta wasn't naïve, she knew things weren't as simple as they seemed.
They were planning something big.
The Voidborne clan was one of the most powerful among all the allied clans. Their patriarch being at the similar level as her.
She knew he was a cold and cruel bastard, but he just wouldn't let one of his kids vanish without even trying to find the cause.
What are they planning?
She already had suspicion about them, and seeing Ren here further reinforced her suspicion.
And more importantly why would they even need Chaos Weapon art?
She knew it was one of the most powerful weapon arts, but Voidborne were not that desperate; they had their own weapons art of a similar level.
I need to investigate them properly.

Inside the Voidborne Clan.
A black-haired boy stood in a huge room.
The room was lavish and adorned with many luxurious paintings and artefacts.
There was a sturdy table in the centre, and a man sat behind it. His blue eyes peered into the blue eyes of the boy.
The pressure in the room was suffocating.
"So you meant to say you lost to some nameless guy, huh?" He asked in a cold voice.
He was the patriarch of Voidborne.
Ren stood silently as he nodded his head slightly. "Yes, Patriarch." He answered to the man in front of him, his father.
"Haaa," The patriarch sighed as his eyes turned cold. "Do you even realise what you have done?"
Then, suddenly, a crushing pressure filled the room. Although the patriarch didn't let it all out, it was still enough to overwhelm Ren.
Ren's body hit the floor. His limbs trembled under the force of his father's aura.
"I-I am sorry, Patriarch." Ren said with gritted teeths. "But that boy was stronger than me."
"Stronger, you say." He said, his voice still cold. "What was his name?"
Ren hesitated.
Then, through clenched teeth, he answered.
"Damien."
A flicker of amusement passed through the Patriarch's face. But it vanished as soon as it appeared.

In the world of Eryndor.
Alden woke up after what felt like an eternity to him. His crimson eyes snapped open.
He was back in his private training room. He looked around in confusion. The trial had finally concluded.
His whole body still felt the pain, but it was more psychological than physical pain.
He had survived.
And now, he had a new power to master.
He checked the time. It was still Saturday. Not even a day has passed by. It had only been few hours since he initiated the trial.
He quickly got up as he exited his training room. He already had a good rest, so he didn't feel tired.
He wanted to check and test his new weapon art immediately.
But his body was smelling really bad from all the sweat and blood that had stuck to his body while inheriting the weapon art.
He entered the shower and took a cold bath. He exited after a quick shower. He now felt clean and refreshed.
After getting dressed he finay entered his training room again and sat on the ground as he summoned the system window showing him the details of his new Sword Art.

[Chaos Weapon Art: Sevenfold Ruin]
A small smile was present on his lips.
Time to see what this could do.
What do you think?
