Chapter 848: Chapter 848: CEO Yang’s Female Companion Is Very Beautiful

Outside the banquet hall, a Maybach car pulled up, and elegantly dressed men and women got out of the car.

Xaviera Evans had an embedded earpiece in her ear to assure constant communication with Quine Heninger. She also had a pinhole camera installed in her necklace to transmit images to him.

She approached Edith Bennett under the name of Gladys Alf, and also purposely waited elsewhere to let Bennett personally invite her to the party, so no one would suspect that the woman by his side was actually Mrs. Mamet.

Caleb Mamet looked at the woman who had just gotten out of the car not far away, his eyes slightly squinted.

Bennett led Evans into the banquet hall. Evans was unaware of what had just happened, but was just eager to avoid that man, lest he detect any anomalies.

The reporter continued to probe, “Could Mr. Caleb Mamet perhaps disclose the other party’s identity?”

...

Mamet gave a slight smile, his gaze eventually falling on the woman standing at the entrance of the banquet hall.

Evans: “What??” What in the world?

She instinctively touched her own face. She had used a disguise, and her older brother’s disguise skills were top-notch—even she could not discern any flaws. Did Mamet discover it?

Luckily, his gaze only lingered for an instant before shifting away casually. A cold voice came over, “No.”

The reporters all showed disappointed faces, but they were already quite satisfied. Mr. Mamet accepting their interview was a rare occasion, they dared not ask for more.

As they were seeking their next target, suddenly Caleb Mamet came up to Bennett, his eyes deep and his voice cold and aloof, “Are you Edith Bennett from Hyb Jewelry?”

Everyone’s gaze immediately turned in their direction. Evans’ heart skipped a beat and she quickly lowered her head.

Bennett was completely taken aback, overjoyed that the famous Mr. Mamet would even initiate conversation with him. He replied eagerly, “Yes, indeed I am Mr. Mamet, do you have any instructions for me?”

Mamet gave a knowing smile, then his gaze wandered to Evans standing next to Bennett, “Instructions, maybe not. It’s just that Mr. Bennett’s companion… is quite lovely.”

Bennett: “What???”

Everyone: “!!!”

No one at the banquet expected Mr. Mamet to praise Bennett’s female companion in public. Wasn’t he already married? Even his wife was known to be quite beautiful, why was he praising another woman at this occasion?

Bennett, wide-eyed and stunned for a moment, then kindly pushed Evans towards Mamet, chuckling gleefully, “It’s her honor to have caught Mr. Mamet’s eye. Alf, you should thank Mr. Mamet.”

Evans: “What… Screw you!”

Slowly lifting her gaze, looking at Mamet’s smiling but not smiling expression, she felt a chill run down her back. She had to maintain her composure and forced out an awkward smile.

Mamet unreservedly looked her up and down, his voice low and magnetic, “The name Gladys Alf sounds nice.”

Feeling the hot gaze of the crowd, Evans gritted her teeth. If she ignored Mr. Mamet at this point, she would undoubtedly arouse suspicion. After much thought, she decided to intentionally alter her voice, “Hello, Mr. Mamet.”

Mamet cast his eyes down, his gaze fixed intently on the woman in front of him. No one could read his emotions. All they heard was his gentle voice, “Miss Alf also has a nice voice.”

Bennett’s gaze was wavering between Evans and Mamet. He knew Mamet had not brought Mrs. Mamet today. Now, publicly praising Alf, Mamet might have taken a liking to this woman.

Bennet tentatively asked, “Mr. Mamet, would you like Miss Alf to…?”@@novelbin@@

Before he could finish his sentence, Mamet gave a satisfied smile.

Evans wore a horrified expression. What on earth is Mamet going to do? No fooling around!

After a moment of silence, Mamet shook his head and strolled away leisurely.

Evans quickly breathed a sigh of relief and obediently stayed behind Bennett to avoid arousing suspicion.

The staff from the Lingo Pavilion had already set up everything. As long as Evans finished her task and reported back to Heninger, the mission would be considered complete.

On the other side, the sapphire necklace was already on the auction stage. But this charity banquet was different from usual, instead of individual bidding, all auction items were gathered in an exhibition room for people to observe at their leisure, and bid on their preferred items.

At this moment, Evans hid in a corner, about to remove the embedded earpiece from her ear. Just as she was about to leave, suddenly—

“Miss Alf, why are you hiding here?”

A gentle voice with a hint of amusement sounded behind her, with a trace of ridicule in his tone.
