Perhaps sensing her thoughts, Caleb Mamet spoke deliberately, “As long as Mrs. Mamet likes it, what’s wrong with spending money? What I have most is money, so it’s well worth it to make Mrs. Mamet happy.”

Just as Xaviera Evans was about to speak, she heard Quine Heninger’s voice through her earpiece and her expression changed.

It seemed as if Caleb noticed something and slowly turned away, “I’ll excuse myself first. If Miss Alf needs any help, you can go to the third floor. My people are all there. Don’t put yourself in danger.”

Xaviera shuddered, Caleb really knew everything, nothing could be hidden from him.

After dealing with Edith Bennett, the people from Lingo Pavilion appeared and took her away. Xaviera left the remaining matters to Quine Heninger and continued to participate in the event.

...

The banquet had been going on for over an hour, and Xaviera felt suffocated by the layer of makeup on her face. So, she went into the restroom, intending to remove her makeup and secretly leave while no one was around.

However, not long after walking out of the restroom, she encountered a familiar figure.

With steady strides, Caleb came forward, followed by Sean Price and others. They happened to come face to face with Xaviera, who was still wearing the gown from Gladys Alf.

Sean Price looked surprised, “Mrs. Mamet, weren’t you feeling unwell? Why are you here? And this gown…”

“Yeah, when we left, Mrs. Mamet said her stomach hurt. Is it better now?” Caleb looked meaningfully at the panicked girl in front of him.

Xaviera’s mouth twitched. She was really unlucky, having just left the restroom to run into someone she least wanted to see.@@novelbin@@

Seeing her embarrassed expression, Caleb waved his hand to signal Sean Price and others to leave. He had them place an exquisitely carved rosewood box on a nearby sofa, then gestured to her, “Come take a look at the gift you picked.”

Xaviera couldn’t help but look at the rosewood box on the sofa, recalling how she’d just urged Caleb to buy the expensive Spex Violin during their battle of wits.

With an airy voice, Caleb said, “Indeed, that necklace is beautiful, but a kind-hearted, lively, adorable, gentle, and elegant woman like Mrs. Mamet should have more valuable gifts.”

His tone was calm, but there was a hint of mockery. He not only repeated Xaviera’s words but scoffed, “I never realized Mrs. Mamet was so narcissistic before.”

Xaviera’s face flushed with embarrassment and anger, she asked indignantly, “Are you saying I’m that kind of person?”

Caleb chuckled and glanced at the rosewood box on the sofa. He slowly opened it to reveal the antique Spex Violin with its rich colors.

Before Xaviera could speak, a man’s voice came from not far away, “Isn’t this the Spex Violin from the auction?”

Xaviera turned her head to see a few people approaching. A well-dressed middle-aged man stood at the forefront, followed by a man who looked like an assistant. They had sly and lascivious appearances. As soon as they came over, they started stirring up trouble, “You said you wanted to buy this violin long ago. Can’t believe someone dared to compete with you!”

Xaviera was taken aback. She hadn’t realized that the violin she casually pointed out to tease Caleb was already desired by others.

The middle-aged man spoke first, his tone indifferent, “You two aren’t musicians, are you? Can you sell this violin to me? I’m willing to pay more.”

His words seemed polite enough, but his disdainful eyes gave him away.

Caleb’s voice was ice-cold, “This is a gift for my wife. I don’t intend to sell it. And when I bought this violin, it was made clear that no one had reserved it.”

At that, the man’s face darkened and his assistant became indignant, “Do you know who you’re talking to? Do you know what we’re doing in Libanan?”

Xaviera: “???” Who do you think you are?!

Of course, Caleb had no intention of dealing with these two, not even deigning to give them a single glance. Instead, he pulled Xaviera towards the door to leave.

The middle-aged man’s face changed, and he coldly questioned, “What kind of attitude is this? This belongs to me. You must give it to me!”

Caleb stopped and spoke calmly, “If you have any objections, you can talk to the person in charge of the charity gala. There’s no need to pester us here.”

Who knew that the man would not back down, even sent someone to block Caleb’s way.

Xaviera knew that the two of them must have just arrived in Libanan, so they didn’t recognize the famous Caleb Mamet.
